                        Pass state Nursing Licensure Exam

                       Enter into professional nursing practice within 3-6 months of graduation         

  • Nursing courses, which are taught by professors who serve as both educators and mentors, include content related to professional issues, theory, research, management theory, human growth and development, communication, pathophysiology, health assessment, and family and community nursing.
  • Students are also required to take liberal arts and sciences courses and other courses related to their major.
  • Courses are offered on flexible day and evening schedules to meet the needs of the working nurse.
  • The nursing courses build on the knowledge and experience that registered nurses already possess as graduates of diploma and associate degree nursing programs.
  • LIU Post offers a wide range of courses in liberal arts and sciences to enhance and broaden student’s nursing expertise.

Eligibility & Entry Requirement

Academic Eligibility:

  • Students must have a high school degree from a recognized institution.
  • Students must have an 85 high school average.
  • Students should have high School Science and Math grades B or higher (85% or > in each math and science course).

Indian Students Eligibility:

  • Students must have passed 12th grade from a recognized institution.

Along with the minimum eligibility requirements, international students hailing from non-English speaking countries need to prove English proficiency through IELTS/TOEFL/any equivalent test.

VISA & Work Study

VISA

There are two types of visas students need to plan:

F-1:

  • If students are requesting an I-20 for an F-1 visa they are required to submit evidence of the availability of funds for their expenses for the first year only, and also indicate the source(s) of funding for subsequent years.
  • Subsequent years’ funding is indicated by the use of a checkbox on the Rackham Affidavit of Financial Support.

J-1:

  • If students are requesting a DS-2019 for a J-1 visa they are required to submit evidence of the availability of funds for their expenses for the duration of their program.
  • Use the estimated expenses to calculate the total amount they need to certify and provide the required proof of funds. Over 50% of funding must come from sources other than personal funds.
