The course at IIT Kharagpur offers a structured academic environment with a faculty-to-student ratio of 10:72 for the initial three years, adjusting as dual degree students progress in their studies. Each course consists of at least five subjects, with dual faculty oversight per subject, complemented by lab sessions conducted by professors and Teaching Assistants. Feedback forms are used to enhance teaching quality. After the 6th semester for B.Tech and 8th semester for Dual Degree students, campus placement opportunities become available, with pre-placement internships offering stipends between 20,000 and 1 lakh per month.

In 2023, over 1600 job offers were made, achieving a placement rate exceeding 70%. The highest international offer reached 2.68 crore annually, while the average domestic package ranged from 18 to 23 lakhs annually. Prominent recruiters include Google, Microsoft, Apple, IBM, and McKinsey. The Career Development Centre facilitates both domestic and international internships, such as the fully funded Mitacs program in Canada. The total course fee is approximately 15 lakhs, with an annual fee of around 3 lakhs covering hostel and food.

Tuition costs 1 lakh per semester. Financial aid is extensive, with the Merit-cum-Means scholarship providing 35,000 rupees per semester for students with a CGPA over 7.

• SC/ST students are exempt from tuition fees, while students from families earning below 1 lakh annually also receive tuition waivers. GEN-EWS students pay one-third of the tuition fees. Despite available scholarships and opportunities for earning through internships and hackathons, hostel and mess charges remain unchanged.

  Low-interest loans are offered by the SBI bank on campus for additional financial support.
