AIIMS Rishikesh located in Uttarakhand is one of the AIIMS in India that is dedicated to providing standardized academics for students. The Institute offers various UG, PG, Fellowship, Doctoral, Diploma and Other Certificate courses. AIIMS Rishikesh has top-notch infrastructure with modern equipment in Labs.

Academics: AIIMS Rishikesh is the only institute that follows a 100% MCQ exam pattern. This exam pattern helps students to prepare for their entrance exams. The academic curriculum at AIIMS Rishikesh is standard as all the AIIMS.

Faculty: AIIMS Rishikesh has 250+ faculty who are very distinguished in their respective fields.

Campus: AIIMS Rishikesh is spread across 100 acres on the river banks of Ganges. The environment and weather conditions are beautiful and offer a serene environment for students. AIIMS Rishikesh is located 20 km away from the Airpot, 8km from the Railway Station and 7km away Bus Station.

Placements: AIIMS Rishikesh also offers placement opportunities for students with decent packages. Students are also provided with internship opportunities with a stipend of INR 23,500 per month. AIIMS Rishikesh is one of the renowned medical institutions located in Uttarakhand. Although, the facilities and faculty at AIIMS Rishikesh are excellent. It may have some cons as well.

Lack of Nightlife: Rishikesh is a small city in the northern state of Uttarakhand in India and is not a metropolitan city. The city is the yoga capital of India and the city sleeps early. Students might not have happening nightlife at AIIMS Rishikesh.

Exam Pattern: AlIMS Rishikesh is one of the institutions to follow a 100% MCQ exam pattern. Although, the exam pattern seems easy and aids students in preparing for their entrance exam. Students might not get a chance how to articulate answers, and presentations and structure the answers as they do in traditional exams. This might be disadvantageous for students wanting to pursue research in their higher education. With Practice and Consistency, students can overcome any difficulties.

The potential cons of AIIMS Rishikesh are based on individual preferences and choices. It is always better to know the pros and cons before choosing any institution. It is advised for students to consider their preferences before making any decision.

Is AIIMS Rishikesh too strict and disciplined for students?

There is a certain level of strictness and discipline in medical colleges. A medical student needs to be dedicated and disciplined to ace academics. Hence, medical colleges do maintain strict rules and regulations to train students to become better doctors in future.

It is a misconception that AIIMS Rishikesh is too strict and disciplined for students. In comparison, with other medical colleges such as MAMC, AFMC Pune and other AIIMS, AIIMS Rishikesh is less strict. However, the institution is very disciplined concerning attendance, assignment submissions and behaviour of students on campus. Some professors do not allow latecomers as a way of teaching students the importance of discipline. Sometimes, students might experience academic pressure and the campus environment at AIIMS Rishikesh will help students experience peace and serenity.

In case of any injustice, students can reach out to the study body welfare association at AIIMS Rishikesh which is dedicated to helping students.

It offers good academics. From the first year, you will be learning most of the clinical variations. Faculties of different departments are invited for integrated lectures.
AIIMS Rishikesh is great in terms of patient care. The hospital is fully functional. With 24*7 emergency, operation theaters, ICU, NICU, CCU, you will get a great deal of clinical exposure.
The institute is fully funded and equipped with all sorts of recent technology.
There are 32 AIIMS Rishikesh PG seats. AIIMS Bhopal has around 29 PG seats.

With Gangas just 100 metres away, AIIMS Rishikesh campus is a treat for sore eyes.

Is KGMU better or AIIMS Rishikesh?

Being a central institute is not important, it's about the scope of learning offered at a medical school.

AIIMS Rishikesh is a central institute, so it has a better administration. However, KGMU offers much more practical knowledge to its students. MBBS is all about gaining practical knowledge. The number and types of patients received by KGMU is very high. As you enter your clinical years, you’ll realize the importance of these things.

AIIMS Faculties are better administered than state faculties. However, MBBS is about your own efforts and approach towards studies. Teachers can only guide you, the hard work is your job entirely. So faculties aren’t much of a concern. Moreover, KGMU also has highly qualified faculties.

I would say KGMU is better than all the other AIIMS, except AIIMS Delhi.

There is a 24/7 supply of electricity here and you won’t face any problem
Proper hygiene is maintained and a cleaning lady cleans your room and washroom daily
The wardens are very cooperative and pay heed to all the complaints lodged by the residents
The students are encouraged to lead a healthy lifestyle as there is a proper provision of treadmill and cycling machine
Another great feature is the laundry facilities available as every room has a washing machine.

Overall, AIIMS Rishikesh hostel facilities are more than enough for a comfortable stay.

My brother was adamant about AIIMS Rishikesh and although our parents and relatives were against his decision he went for it. He had offers from KGMC, BHU, and AMU. They were worried that AIIMS Rishikesh had no reservations/quotas and did not consider it at par with the AIIMS legacy.

He, however, was very confident about his decision and the relentless arguments did not dissuade him from joining AIIMS Rishikesh. After spending a year or more at AIIMS Rishikesh he realized it was the best decision of his life. He had found a family away from home and was also attached to the institute.h

He claimed that it was the peaceful and serene ambiance that kept his spirits high even during the hardest of times. Thanks to the surreal experience he spent the most difficult years with great positivity.
