IIT Madras BS in Data Science Review.

Likes

Teaching Quality is really good, and the concepts are cleared till depth.
The exams conducted makes sure your concepts are clear.
The interface through which you can connect through students make sure that there is no doubt left, even teacher solves the doubt there.

Dislikes

It is boring watching lectures but if you want a IIT degree then you have to be focused.

Placement Experience:

From 2nd year onwards you become eligible for placements. I didnt visit any company as I just got into second year. Highest package hits like 50LPA and average package is like 12LPA My plan is to start my own startup in Data Science after getting my degree.

It's online but the materials is good . And most importantly the quality of materials
It compulsory to make projects to get a good grade and also help in placement

Dislikes

Lectures are boring but if you have some patience then you'll be addicted to this

I liked the course content, the user experience on website
I liked the engagement of the faculty, even being in online mode, teachers are doing their best to provide best of the best
I liked the low fees and the freedom to opt any other online or offline course along with the current course

Dislikes

It would we great if they provided us with option to visit campus during festivals and exams

Placement Experience:

Placements are good, as the degree is completely online, but it is nowhere mentioned in the certificate, IIT helps one to get good package in Data Science fields, maybe the college does not provide placemnts, but students have gotten in big companies through off-campus placements

Everything you need to know about IIT Madras

Likes

At very first, you get a chance to be an IITian without JEE. This makes you understand the level of IIT
Secondly, there is total flexibility given to students. You can watch recorded lectures at your own convenience whenever you want.
Talking about placements. IIT have their own placement cell for placement assistance. And very renowned companies are part of it.

Dislikes

Although they have tried there best to make it engaging and interactive but I feel there could be more done to keep students much more involved.
Some would see it as a pros but I feel this could be a con. There is no minimum attendance required. It's your wish you attend or you don't the classes.

Placement Experience:

From 3rd year onwards students can be part of placement assistance. Moreover, throughout four years you receive offers for internships. As it is a new degree so no official data is avaliable on name of companies and no. of offers. However, though sources it is shared that avergae package range around 15- 20 lakhs per annum. I plan to do my masters in data science from some American University.

The most liked thing in this course is course structure. Its updated accordingly to industry demand and its very very rigorous.
Again flexibility given by college makes it a unique programme.Even a working professional can join this program and upskill them.
The IIT tag and alumnus status of most prestigious institute s another benefit of this programme.You will get connection with alumnus of IIT Madras.

Dislikes

The one thing I don't like is the teaching style of some professor.Specially Maths professor they always read solutions only.
Second thing is the placement data is not shared regularly.You need to ask to get placement data shared
Course Curriculum is Hectic and programming exam is too hard

Placement Experience:

After Second year you become eligible for internship and after third year you are eligible for placement.The highest and lowest package are yet to know .You can do MS after this degree and also mtech. You can apply for phd also

After completing one diploma you can apply for internships and after your 3rd year, you can apply for the placement while going on with your last year. You need atleast 8+ cgpa to get the placement. The package is also quite well

It is a full-time degree or diploma and so it will have more value than online. But if we compare IIT Madras’ online degree or diploma with any other college’s then it is better.

The duration of the course is 3 years. The mode of training is online, the lectures are mostly recorded and partly live sessions.

Whether the course will be good or not that depends on what subject you are planning to pursue. If you opt for a subject related to technology, then it is not a good option. This is because technology cannot be learned through books or audiovisual. It requires you to be present in the field to gain experience and knowledge.

The online Data Science program at IIT Madras is a great opportunity for someone who can not attend regular college because of financial constraints, illness, or other reasons. The online BS in Data Science and Application allows students to gain knowledge of this field from one of the most reputed engineering colleges in India.
