Annamalai University MA Eligibility Criteria
Applicant opting for M.A degree in Tamil must be qualified with the following criteria:
A pass in Bachelors of Letter (B.Litt)/ B.A Tamil Or any other degree from a recognized university with Part 1 in Tamil.
Applicant opting for M.A degree in Hindi must be have a degree with Hindi in Part 1/ Any degree with Hindi in Part 3/ A pass in University degree along with Rashtrabhasha Visharad of D.B. Hindi Prachar Sabha from Madras or its equivalent.
Applicant opting for M.A degree in English must be qualified with the following criteria:
- A pass in B.A. English in Part 3
Or,
- A pass in B.A with English in Part 2
Or,
- A pass in B.Sc with English in Part 2
Or,
- A pass in B.O.L with English in Part 2
Applicant opting for M.A Degree in Economics, History, Philosophy, Political Science, Population Studies, Political Studies, Sociology, and Rural Development:
- A pass in a Bachelor’s degree in any subject from a recognized university
Or,
- A pass in Professional courses offered by Annamalai University.
Or,
- A pass in any examinations conducted by aby recognized university accepted by the Syndicate as equivalent.
Note:
- The minimum eligibility for SC/ST/SCA candidates for all the above courses is a pass mark in any graduation degree.
- The applicants must be a minimum of 20 years of age and maximum of 28 years of age for all the above courses. The SC/ST/SCA applicants are given 5 years of age relaxation.

- Now click on the course you want to apply for.
- Next, the application form will open.
- Fill up the application form completely, and upload all the required documents.
- Pay the application fee of INR 200 if you are an SC/ST/SCA candidate and INR 400 for all other category candidates.
- Take out the print out of the Application Form, and Online Payment Details and post/courier it to the university address.
- Application Fee Payment can also be made through Demand Draft (DD has to be drawn in favour of the Registrar, Annamalai University and payable at Annamalai Nagar / Chennai.”). In that case, send the DD with by speed post or Registered Post or in-person to the following address:

The entire M.A. degree is divided into four semesters. The minimum credit requirement for M.A is 78 for core courses and 12 for elective courses. Credits are given based on lectures/tutorials/laboratory and other equivalent learnings in a week:
- 1 credit for each lecture period per week.
- 1 credit for each tutorial per week.
- 1 credit for every three laboratory classes or practical work per week.
- 1 credit for every two periods of the seminar.
- F5 credits for project work and dissertation.
The students must maintain 75% of attendance to appear in the university examinations.
