NIT Kurukshetra B.Tech. Eligibility Criteria
- For B.Tech, candidates who have secured at least 75% marks in 10+2 examination or be in the top 20% of the respective board, with Physics and Mathematics as compulsory subjects along with one of the Chemistry/Biotechnology/Biology/ Technical Vocational subject, are eligible to apply. SC/ST category candidates, the qualifying marks would be 65% in the 12th class examination.
- Candidates will have to qualify JEE Main.
- Reservation of seats is done in accordance with the rules laid down by the Government of India.
NIT Kurukshetra B.Tech. Selection Criteria
Considering the 12th exam results and the score of JEE Main, a merit list shall be made category-wise, listing All India Rank (AIR) of candidates.
Candidates has to register for counselling online at the official JoSSA website. Choice filling and locking is mandatory and it is to be done by the candidate only. In a decreasing order of preference, branch choices are to be filled. Based on the cut off set by NIT Kurukshetra, seats will be allocated in each round of counselling.
How to apply for the B.Tech Program?
Documents required:
- Scanned copies of academic details.
- Scanned passport size photograph of the candidate in JPG/JPEG format (size between 10 kb–200 kb).
- Scanned clear signature of the candidate in JPG/JPEG format (size between 4 kb–30 kb).
- Scanned copies of Category certificate, PwD certificate, if applicable.
- A valid e-mail ID.
Application process:
- Register for JEE Mains exam for B. Tech.
- Enter the personal, academic details and upload Scanned Images of Candidate’s Photograph and Signature.
- Pay the application fee through Debit card/Credit card/Net banking/UPI/PAYTM by following the online instructions.
- After successful payment, print the Confirmation Page and keep it for future reference.

My course curriculum includes C programming, C++ programming, Data Structures, Digital System Design, Web design, Advance Data Structures, database management systems, Computer networks, Software Engineering, - Software testing, Software UML and Agile Development, Computer organisation and architecture, etc. The faculty-student ratio is 1: 80 in my college. The faculties here are highly skillful, taught us advanced technologies, and helped in our career growth. Many students under these faculties are now in higher positions in many fields.

I chose this course because of my rank in jee mains and I got it through Jossa Counseling. The teacher-to-student ratio is 1:20. All are Ph.D and well qualified with many years of experience. There are two midterm exams and an end-term examination.

Things like programming and all is very difficult to understand on a black board. The classrooms of this college have a very large scope of inprovement. Classroooms are not as you expect from a one of the top NIT. They could have been lot better -> Exams are not difficult one can easily pass them if they study with discipline

NIT Jamshedpur CS is better than NIT Kurukshetra IT. It offers better placement opportunities to students. According to the highlights of NIT Jamshedpur placements 2022, students of CSE received the highest CTC of around INR 37.50 LPA. Amazon, Deloitte, Tata Group are some of the major recruiters that frequently visit the campus placements.
Which is better, IT at NIT Kurukshetra or CSE at PEC Chandigarh?
My younger brother is doing CSE from NIT Kurukshetra. So I might be able to help you with this question.
- If you get IT here, consider yourself to have CSE. There is almost no distinction between CSE and IT in this context. Almost all the subjects studied in CSE are also covered in the IT syllabus as well.
- The syllabus is being revised, and the new syllabus will be implemented beginning with the July session. So, hopefully, you won't be forced to learn about out-of-date technology that no one uses today.
- The institute has a strong coding culture. Students engage in healthy competition. Every even semester, the seniors (who are among the best in the game) organize extra classes on Algorithms, Discrete Math, and Data Structures (through Competitive Programming).
- In college, there are some fantastic developers. GAWDS (Graphics and Web Development Society) is a society full of super talented people who are experts in their fields and with whom you can learn and grow as a developer.
- My brother was allowed to miss his Mid-Term Exams because he needed to attend a prestigious Competitive Programming Contest at another college.
- For CSE and IT students, there is a technical society called Techno byte, which is heavily involved in organizing Altius and Techspardha, the latter being the largest Techno-Managerial fest in North India.
- The seniors here are extremely cooperative.

The only thing you'll miss is city life. Kurukshetra doesn't have much to offer, but you won't have time or reason to leave the campus because there's always something interesting going on.
