Academic Requirement:

Candidate must have cleared his/her 12^th class with minimum 50% of marks in aggregate from a recognized board of education.
All SC/ST candidates should have 5% of relaxation.

Admissions are granted on the basis of performance in the All India Engineering/Pharmacy/Architecture Entrance Examination ( JEE (Main) ) conducted by CBSE, for MHRD, Government of India.

Course Curriculum Overview:

I had an interest in electronic equipment, so I chose this course. The faculty-student ratio is 1:70. Almost all the professors have done PhD and are very experienced and the teaching method is on the projector and there is good interaction in the class. If you study regularly, then the exams are very easy.

Course Curriculum Overview:

I chose this course as I had interest in Hardware Processors. The faculties are very good and they help with each project and task we are working on and also for guidance normally there are 3 teachers for 1 subject for a class of 70. All faculty members are IIT alumni and very well experienced with teaching from PPT. There are 3 exams quiz midterms end terms And it was a bit difficult to study for the same but gradually I took guidance from faculties and got well.

I chose EC for more diversity. I think it's the best course if you want to enjoy college life and get good placements ..faculties are great except for EE lmao cuz he makes us jot down a lot more. Exams are mid-range and End-Sems is a pretty good level

I chose this course because of my enthusiasm towards Electronics. Faculty: The student ratio is one to twenty. The faculty are highly educated and each of them are PhD holders from different institutes in their respective fields. There occurs one mid-semester one end semester in one term and there are two terms in one year, so a total of 2 mid sem and 2 end sem in one year

How’s ECE at SVNIT Surat?

I have a close friend who studied from here, according to her experience, the preference order for branches at NIT Surathkal among students is as follows.

CS>Mech>Electrical~ECE

ECE - Highlights:

Faculty- The lecturers are helpful and knowledgeable. But the faculty for other branches is better than ECE. Students aiming for CGPA above 9 should work hard.
Subjects- The subjects covered in the course are quite interesting. You will have a chance to core electronics, communication, programming, and the electrical side.
Placements- There is no big core company for ECE grad. in Surat, still, the on-campus placements are fine. John Deere, Master Card, and Airtel, and some software companies like JPMC, Carwale, etc are some of the recruiters for this course.

The main reason for ECE being behind Mechanical is top-quality professors, core companies, being one of the oldest branches & huge class strength. ECE is not behind mechanical but mechanical is way ahead of ECE in SVNIT.

There are definitely a few shortcomings for the ECE branch, but it is still ECE from NIT Surat.

Should I study IT from IIEST Shibpur or EC from SVNIT?

IT from IIEST Shibpur is a better choice than EC from SVNIT Surat. Both my classmates and I agree to the fact that IIEST Shibpur is a much better institute than SVNIT. The reasons for the same are given below –

It is a common observation that many of the EC engineering graduates eventually work as software engineers, which is not their core domain.
IT is very close to CSE in terms of coding and related works. You will definitely learn more in IT rather than EC even if you are interested in software.
If you want you can learn software development and coding on your own, then go for the EC branch of SVNIT.
But that will require a lot of effort, time management, and discipline.
IT at IIEST, Shibpur will also give a mental satisfaction that you are working in the same field as intended while in EC at SVNIT you will probably have to join a job that is not related to your core EC subjects.
Even if you are passionate about EC, the faculty in this department at SVNIT are not very good. They are too young for the job.
Of course, there will be seniors and various clubs to help you out but faculty are at the core of any teaching system.
