My friend joined IIIT Surat in 2019 and it turned out to be an average experience for him. Even though it ranks #4 on the NIRF ranking portal, it still has a number of shortcomings that get balanced out by its few achievements.

The college director is very cooperative and has contributed a lot to the college. He supported students in starting startups, by assigning a club.
With his efforts, the college is now registered in the database of different states in just 3 years which is remarkable.
He has also set up a computer lab and an electronics lab as well.
IIIT Surat faculty is good and well experienced. They will assign you a lot of real industry projects.
The coding culture is good as well, and SVNIT is the mentoring institute of IIIT Surat.

The hostel however has some room deficit. Some buildings are closed for renovation and the others have minimal rooms available. Also, MSc and M.Tech students can reside in Tagore Bhavan. IIIT Surat Campus

IIIT Surat is currently operating from its temporary campus at Sardar Vallabhbhai National Institute of Technology (SVNIT). SVNIT will mentor the institute for the first two to three years while the new campus is being built. The new academic building was constructed on land that the Gujarati government allotted near Kamrej in the Surat region.

Ques. Is IIIT Surat Good?

Ans. IIIT Surat is one of the newly emerging IIITs that is now coming at par with the other IIITs around India. The institute offers B.Tech programs in ECE and CSE. IIIT Surat is now ready to relocate to its new campus where students will be provided with various provisions and state of the art lab/classroom equipment. The institute currently takes in 132 students in its B.Tech program and has a faculty of professors, associate professors and assistant professors that are all highly qualified and experienced in their disciplines. IIIT Surat also offers various scholarships to deserving students.

Ques. How to apply for admission at IIIT Surat?

Ans. Candidates seeking admission to IIIT Surat must have appeared for JEE Mains/Advanced. Eligible students can then register for seat allocation in the NIT+ system. After this, a candidate must list down the choices of Institutes and branches in decreasing order of their preference. This will be followed by locking of choices, which is highly recommended. Upon completion of this process, there will be 7 rounds of seat allocation conducted by JoSAA in which the seats will be granted to the eligible candidates. The accepted students will then have to pay a seat acceptance fee (through SBI e-Challan/SBI NetBanking/SBI debit cards) and get their documents verified.

Review of IIIT SURAT by a 4th Semester student

JEE Mains is required to apply for admission. In General, the Category cutoff is approximately 20000 for the CSE branch and 35000 for the ECE branch. After your JEE mains, you have to register for JOSSA Counseling and there will be 6 rounds and 2 rounds of CSAB. So in total 8 rounds of the admission process will be there. The admission process is smooth.
