Course Details

Delhi University M.Ed admission 2024 is ongoing. The university has announced “Spot Admission Round I” for PG courses for the academic session 2024-25. The last date to apply for the “Spot Admission Round 1” is July 24, 2024. The allocation of Spot Admission Round 1 PG courses will be declared on July 26. Seats can be accepted from July 26 to 28 and the last date to complete admission formalities is July 30, 2024.

DU M.Ed Eligibility Criteria

The candidates applying for admission to the M.Ed program at Delhi University must have one of the following educational qualifications obtained from any of the recognized universities:

  • B.Ed. with a minimum of 50% marks in aggregate
  • B.A.B.Ed., B.Sc.B.Ed. with a minimum of 50% marks in aggregate
  • B.El.Ed. with a minimum of 50% marks in aggregate
  • D.El.Ed. with an Undergraduate degree (with 50% marks in aggregate in each course i.e. D.El.Ed. and Undergraduate programs) 

DU M.Ed Admission Criteria

DU M.Ed admission is based on the Common University Entrance Test (CUET PG), conducted by NTA. Candidates who clear the entrance examination will be required to register on Delhi University’s admission portal. Provisional seat allotment will be done through the Common Seat Allocation System (CSAS PG) portal by Delhi University where candidates will be required to fill in college and department preferences. For the final selection, a merit list will be released by Delhi University based on CUET PG scores, college and department preferences, availability of seats, reservation criteria, academic qualifications, and other factors.

DU M.Ed Application Process

The application process is restricted to online mode only and it is compulsory to register on the common portal on DU PG Admission Portal. All candidates need to follow these steps in order to achieve a successful application to the curriculum.

  • Visit the official website of DU and on the admission tab click on DU PG Portal Admission.
  • Register by providing a functioning email and Phone Number.
  • After successful registration, the applicant needs to upload the self-attested documents on the portal for further process.
  • Choose the course and fill in the accurate details about earlier education and personal details.
  • The portal will show the payment option for application to the university. 
  • An application fee of INR 700 and INR 300 is charged from the general category students and reserved category students respectively. 
  • The application would include admission options: Entrance / Merit, applicants must choose Entrance based only.
  • Check all details and submit the form.
  • Keep a tab on the official website of both DU and the Department of Education for more information.

DU M.Ed Course Details

The University of Delhi offers a full-time two-year M.Ed. programme keeping in with NCTE (National Council for Teacher Education) norms. M.Ed. is considered as a professional programme for advanced study of the discipline of Education. The objective of this programme is to develop in-depth knowledge and specialization in education among the students. The medium of instruction for M.Ed. is English.

The M.Ed. Programme involves lectures, discussions, practicum, student presentations, group work, school-based assignments, sessional tasks and seminars.

M.Ed. Course Structure 

The M.Ed. programme is divided mainly into five components:

  • Research Methods (to strengthen the understanding of research)
  • Perspective Courses (to develop knowledge of different areas viewed as critical for education such as philosophical, sociological, psychological, teacher education, and historical and economic foundations of education)
  • Specialization Courses (to enhance understanding in a specialized field of study in education)
  • Project work
  • Dissertation

Ques. What is the attendance requirement for M.A at DU?

Ans. Delhi University requires its M.Ed students to have a minimum percentage of attendance in order to be eligible for exams. As per the National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE), the minimum attendance requirement for students is 80% for theory courses and practicum, and 90% for field attachment. A shortage of attendance can create problems for the students in their academics. 

Ques. How many seats are available for M.Ed in DU?

Ans. A total of 63 seats are available for the M.Ed programme in DU. Out of these, 10 seats are reserved for SC, 5 seats for ST, 17 for OBC, 6 for EWS, and the remaining 25 seats for unreserved category. Alongside, DU also has 6 supernumerary seats, 3 each for PwD and C/WAP. In case of foreign nationals, the student intake will be as per the university norms.
