Ans. JNU offers Bachelors of Technology (B.Tech.) programme under the School of Engineering. The four year B.Tech. programme has 2 specialisations. B.Tech. in Computer Science and Engineering and BTech in Electronics and Communication Engineering. There are two modes of admission into the 4 year program. Students are admitted on the basis of JEE Main scores through JOSAA and DASA counselling. The DASA counselling is for foreign nationals only. 

Ans. The integrated program lasts up to 5 years. The Integrated B.A.-M.A. Programme (10 semesters) is offered in Arabic, Chinese, French, German, Japanese, Korean, Persian, Pashto, Russian and Spanish. JNU also offers B.Sc.-M.Sc. Integrated Programme in Ayurveda Biology. 

On successful completion of 3-year of the 5-year Integrated Master’s Programme, a student can either leave with a Bachelor's (Honours/Pass) degree or continue with the Integrated Master’s programme. This comes with a condition that the student must fulfil the eligibility criteria in order to continue to the Masters program. 

Ans. JNU offers PhD programs for students in part-time mode. Interested students must keep the below given points in mind while applying for a part-time PhD programme. 

Ph.D. programmes through part-time mode will be permitted up to 12.5% of the Ph.D. intake of respective School/ Centre/ Special Centre at the time of admission to Ph.D. programme provided all the conditions stipulated in these Regulations are fulfilled.

The candidates seeking admission to part-time Ph.D. programmes should be employed in a Government/UGC recognized Institutions/ Organizations/ University/ Colleges in the Delhi NCR region.

The University shall obtain a “No Objection Certificate” from the candidate for a part-time Ph.D. programme issued by the authority in the employment organisation stating that:

 i. The candidate is permitted to pursue studies on a part-time basis.

 ii. His/her official duties permit him/her to devote sufficient time for research. 

iii. If required, he/she will be relieved from the duty to complete the course work

Ans. JNU offers reservations for deprived and underprivileged communities. An applicant belonging to SC,ST, OBC, EWS, PwD, Defence can benefit from the reservation criteria given below:

15 % of the total seats are reserved for applicants belonging to Scheduled Caste (SC) and 7.5% for Scheduled Tribes (ST).

27% of the total seats are reserved for Other Backward Classes Non Creamy Layer (OBC-NCL)

10% of total seats are reserved for Economically Weaker Sections (EWS) (not covered under SC, ST & OBC) 

 5% seats are reserved for Persons with Benchmark Disabilities

All OBC (NCL) category candidates are eligible to 10% relaxation in the percentage of marks in the qualifying examination in relation to open category

Ans. Candidates from the reserved category must provide a valid and updated certificate of reservation claim at the time of application. Certificate from any person/ authority, other than the Competent Authority empowered to issue such certificate, shall not be accepted in any case. The Caste Certificate should clearly state:

(a) Name caste/ tribe of the candidate,

(b) The category the candidate belongs to

(c) District and the State or Union Territory of applicant’s usual place of residence and

(d) The appropriate Govt. of India schedule under which the candidate’s caste/ tribe is approved.

If the applicants do not have the caste certificate at the time of final registration, the applicant may upload the acknowledgement slip of the certificate application. However, at the time of admission, the applicant will have to produce the valid caste certificate.

Ans. JNU offers numerous facilities to the Person with Physical disabilities (PwD) students. Ramps with rails in the academic and hostel area are constructed for students with special needs. The university has allocated INR 3.7 Lakhs for making the campus disable-friendly. Moreover, the library is also well furnished and is easily accessible for PwD students. JNU reserves 5% of total seats in each course for persons with disabilities students. 

Ans. JNU offers numerous undergraduate and postgraduate courses. Under the Bachelor’s of Arts B. A. (Hons.) It has foreign languages. The specialisation under the bachelors course include Japanese Chinese, Korean French, Russian Arabic, and more. These specialisations are offered under the centre of respective languages. The admissions to these The admissions to these B.A. (Hons.) specialisations will be made on the basis of the performance in the Computer Based Test CUET (UG) conducted by NTA.

Ans. JNU offers scholarships and fellowships to mostly needy students. However, general category students with an excellent academic record can benefit from scholarships too. The UGC-Scholarships and Fellowship is awarded to meritorious students. Moreover, Tendulkar Scholarship and Prof. MJK Thavaraj MCM Scholarships are similar scholarships offered on the basis of merit of the student. Ans. JNU does not consider JNUEE scores for admissions into the prestigious. The university has updated its admission and selection criteria to CUET scores. Meaning, JNU aspirants must appear for the CUET exam to get admission in UG and PG courses at JNU. Furthermore, MBA aspirants must appear for the CAT exam to get admission into the Masters in Business Administration program at JNU. 

Ans. CoP is the Certificate of Proficiency courses at JNU. The admissions into the one year program are based on CUET UG scores. No viva voce examination will be held for admissions in COP programmes. At the time of admission, the CUET UG scores and deprivation points were added to an applicant score by the university admissions cell. According to the marks obtained finally, the cut off and merit lists will be released on the official website.

Ans. No, JNU does not offer any distance education program in any discipline. The university offers part-time PhD programs for employed candidates. However, distance education programs are not available for students. 

Ans. Admissions to B.Tech programs to foreign nationals in JNU are based on DASA counselling. However, admissions to the regular UG and PG courses are based on entrance exam/ viva voce or through In Absentia. 

All Foreign Nationals present in India must appear in the entrance examination and/or viva voce of the subject. Every foreign national qualification is subject to equivalence and production of Student Visa/Research Visa. The candidate has to apply online for the Entrance Examination/viva-voce. 

Foreign Nationals who are applying from their respective countries will be considered ‘In Absentia’ and there is a separate Application Form for them. They must send the application Form with the copies of the certificates on the basis of which admission is sought by them. 

Moreover, a bank draft of US $42 (including GST) drawn in favour of Jawaharlal Nehru University payable at New Delhi is to be enclosed with the filled Application Form towards the processing fee of application form.

Ans. Candidates not covered under the existing scheme of reservations for the SC/ ST/ OBC/ are identified as EWS. The EWS candidate’s family gross annual income should be below INR 8 LPA.

The income shall include income from all sources. The income for the financial year prior to the year of application will be considered. Persons whose family owns or possesses any of the following assets shall be excluded from being identified as EWSs, irrespective of the family income:

• 5 acres of Agricultural Land and above;
• Residential flat of 1000 sq. ft. and above;
• Residential plot of 100 sq. yards and above in notified municipalities
• Residential plot of 210 sq. yards and above in areas other than the notified municipalities.

Ans. Foreign students in JNU can take admissions through two mediums. Them being through Entrance Examination and/or viva voce and through ‘In Absentia’ process. 

1. Through Entrance Exam: All Foreign Nationals present in India will be required to appear in the entrance examination and/or viva voce. They must fulfil the minimum eligibility requirement as prescribed or equivalent. They must also produce Student Visa/Research Visa, as the case may be. The candidate has to apply online for the Entrance Examination/viva-voce. 
2. Through ‘in-Absentia’ Category: Foreign Nationals who are applying from outside India will be considered ‘In Absentia’ category. There is a separate Application Form for such a category, on the official website of JNU. 
3. They must send Application Form (alongwith the copies of the certificates etc. through post to Section Officer. A Bank Draft of US $42 drawn in favour of JNU is to be enclosed with the filled in downloaded Application Form towards the processing fee of application form.

Ans. JNU offers cultural activities along with a health care system, games and sports. The cultural activities on campus are promoted through cultural clubs. Enrolled students can take part in these clubs upon admission and switch between sessions.

Ans. JNU has a reservation of up to 15% (Supernumerary) of total seats in each course for foreign nationals. These seats are over and above the intake fixed for each programme of study. In order for foreign nationals to take admission in any course, they have to submit the following documents:

Ans. JNU offers MA Economics under the school of International Studies. The eligibility criteria of MA Economics includes Maths as a main or subsidiary subject. The eligibility for the Master’s of Arts course is as follows. 

Bachelor’s degree (with 50% marks in aggregate) in the following subjects: Economics (Honours) with Mathematics as a subsidiary subject; OR Mathematics (Honours) with Economics as a subsidiary subject; or Statistics (Honours) with Economics and Mathematics as subsidiary subjects.

Any other Bachelor’s degree (with 60% marks in aggregate) with courses in Microeconomics, Macroeconomics, Mathematical Economics and Statistics. 

Ans. Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) reserves 5% reservation of supernumerary seats for widows/wards of Armed Forces Personnel for admission. The following are covered under the reservation: 

1. Widows/Wards of Defence personnel killed in action.
2. Wards of Defence personnel disabled in action and boarded out from service with disability attributable to military service.
3. Widows/Wards of Defence personnel who died while in service with death attributable to military service.

Ans. JNU has a full-fledged unit for visually challenged and partially sighted students to access OPAC and online resources. Hellen Keller unit is equipped with assistive technologies and software like Kurzeweil, JAWS, Magic to enable visually challenged and partially sighted students to access OPAC and online resources.

The visually challenged students are also provided laptops, loaded with specialised software, and digital voice recorders for recording the class lectures. Central Library is committed to equitable services to the visually challenged students. The unit is equipped with 20 computers with JAWS & Kurzweil software’s, headphones, scanners, 02 Braille embossers are installed in the Unit. 71 laptops were distributed to all the visually impaired researchers/students. 80 digital Voice recorders were distributed to visually impaired students of the University.

Ans. Deprivation points are some extra marks given to the underprivileged in UG, PG CoP Advanced Diploma programmes. A candidate can get a maximum of 12 deprivation points at the time of admission. Kashmiri migrants, all female and transgender candidates are eligible for deprivation points as per the university notification. In order to benefit from these points, applicants must produce relevant evidence at the time of admission registration. 

Ans. JNU offers a PG Diploma in Data Analytics under the School of Computation and Integrative Sciences. It is a skill development program to train graduates in the field of Data Analytics. The one-year course includes dissertation, presentation and more activities. An applicant can become a data analyst, data, scientist, data engineer, business analyst, and more. 

Ans. Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) does not provide free relaxation for any category. It is because JNU is one of the premier universities with minimal fees in India. The university gives eligibility relaxations to students from the reserved categories. However, needy students can still apply for scholarships as per their eligibility criteria. Ans. JNU provides Certificate of Proficiency programs in foreign languages. CUET is mandatory for the Certificate courses. Additionally, the center for Korean Studies provides a part-time certificate course in the Mongolian language. Ans. JNU’s Atal Bihari Vajpayee School Of Management and Entrepreneurship (ABVSME) admits students for MBA degree. The admissions to the 2-year program is based on CAT scores. There are no available seats for the non-CAT category in the program. Each aspirant must submit their CAT registration number and CAT scores at the time of application. Moreover, applicants will be shortlisted for a group discussion and a personal interview before making it to the final selection list.

Ans. JNU offers Advanced Diploma and PG Diploma courses in the following subjects:

• Advanced Diploma of Proficiency in Mass media in Urdu
• PG Diploma in Big Data Analytics 

Additionally, all OBC category (NCL) candidates can benefit from the 10% relaxation in the eligibility criteria of the diploma courses.

Ans. Yes, CUET is made mandatory for aspirants who wish to take admission in any Diploma specialization at JNU. The applicants with ideal CUET marks will be shortlisted and announced on the official website of the university. Such candidates must appear for the document verification at the university campus before making the fee payment.

Ans. JNU offers University Health Centre near the North Gate of Southwest of Ganga Hostel. Doctors of the University Health Centre provide primary OPD facilities. The enrolled students can walk in for consultations and treatment for General OPD and Specialists OPD. The OPD services has specialists in Internal Medicine, Psychiatry, ENT, Ophthalmology, Skin, Orthopedic, Gynecology, Cardiology, Pediatrics, General Surgery (consultation only) and Counseling services. Students must take appointments online to benefit from the healthcare centre.

Ans. Yes, alongwith the reservations, JNU provides scribes to the eligible candidates by NTA as per Government of India/NTA rules. The scribe will be provided to students with benchmark disability only. An applicant with a benchmark disability of at least 40% will be eligible for the scribe facility.

Ans. No, attendance is not a compulsory requirement or something that can put students in trouble for not fulfilling. JNU is one of India’s premier institutes that admits some of the bright minds of the country. It believes if the professor teaches well, students will attend the lectures. However, it is not a mandatory box to check. It is, however, mandatory to pass the semester and annual exams.

Ans. Ans.JNU admits students to its MBA program based on CAT scores. Meaning, that students with a valid CAT score can apply to the Master’s program. Ans. Aspirants who are the ward of any JNU employee do not have a specific relaxation criterion. However, such students have a seat reservation in the classroom seat matrix. These seats are reserved in selected courses such as B. A (Hons) Programme and M.A/M.Sc./MCA Programme. The said courses have a reservation of 5 and 3 courses respectively.
