IIT Patna - Indian Institute of Technology - [IITP], Patna - Scholarship Details

IIT Patna offers the Merit Cum Means Scholarships and other various scholarships under Central Scheme Scholarships for both UG and PG students to assist them financially and meet their academic expenditures. Some of the scholarships offered at the institute are as follows. 

Merit Cum Means Scholarship:

• IIT Patna offers the MCM scholarships to the meritorious and needy students enrolled in the UG program or 2-year M.Sc program. 
• In order to be eligible for the MCM Scholarship, a student should have a minimum SPI/CPI of 6.50 along with an annual family income not exceeding INR 4.5 lakhs.
• As an award of MCM Scholarship, students receive a sum of INR 1000 per month for 2 semesters and a free tuition fee.

Top Class Education Scheme for SC students:

• The Scholarship is specifically designed to promote quality education among the SC students by supporting them financially. 
• A total of 12 scholarships are offered at IIT Patna among the SC students whose annual family income is less than INR 6 lakhs.
• As an award of the SC Scholarship Scheme, students are exempted from the payment of full tuition fees. Some additional benefits are as follows:
  • INR 3000 per annum for books and stationery.
  • INR 2200 per month to meet the living expenses. 
  • Latest computer/Laptop worth INR 45,000.

Central Sector Scheme of Scholarships for College and University Students

• The Scholarship is funded by MHRD, Department of Higher Education, and is available for UG students.
• In order to be eligible for the Central Sector Scheme, students should have more than 80th percentile in 10+2 and parental income of INR 8 lakhs.
• For the renewal of scholarships, a student needs to have secured a minimum of 50% marks in the previous exam and should have 75% attendance. 
• A sum of INR 10,000 is awarded to the UG students and INR 20,000 to the PG students.

Prime Minister's Scholarship Scheme for RPF (Railway Protection Force)/RPSF (Railway Protection Special Force):

• The Prime Minister's Scholarship Scheme for RPF/RPSF is offered by the Ministry of Railways for the UG students of the institute. 
• The scholarship is only available to two wards per family and to the students who have secured a minimum of 60% marks in their 10+2.
• The male students receive INR 2000 per month as a Scholarship award while the female students receive INR 2250 per month. 
• Students enrolled in Professional degree courses like BE, B.Tech, BDS, MBBS, B.Ed, BBS, BCA, MCA, B.Pharma., etc., are eligible for the Prime Minister's Scholarship Scheme.

Merit-cum-Means based Scholarship for students belonging to the Minority Communities to pursue professional and technical courses:

• The Merit Cum Means-based Scholarship is offered by the Ministry of Minority Affairs and is available for both UG & PG students.
• Students who have secured a minimum of 50% marks in their 12th standard or the previous final examinations and whose annual family income not exceeding INR 2.5 lakhs are eligible for this Scholarship Scheme.
• Students receive full tuition fee refurbishment along with a maintenance allowance of INR 1000 for 10 consecutive months in an academic year.
• The Scholarship can be availed by the students enrolled in any technical and professional program at UG or PG level at IIT Patna.

Scholarships for Top Class Education for students with disabilities:

• The Scholarship for Top Class Education for students with disabilities is funded by the Department of Empowerment of Persons with Disability and is offered to support the students with disabilities financially.
• SwDs with a minimum of 40% or above and having a parental annual income of INR 6 lakhs or less are eligible for this scholarship. 
• As a Scholarship award, students are rewarded with the refurbishment of tuition fees up to INR 2 LPA. 
• Also, students are offered a maintenance allowance of INR 3000 per month, a Special allowance of INR 2000 per month, Reimbursement for the purchase of a computer worth INR 30,000, and INR 30,000 for the purchase of Aids and assistive devices including software related to the particular disability.
