Remarks :
The admission process to get into the IITs is infamously rigorous. To get in, you have to take the JEE Advanced exam, the details of which are available online on their official site. I did not avail reservation and am clueless about the same. The course itself has no prerequisites except for clearing the entrance exam itself. For the EEE course, the cutoff was around an AIR of 2000.
Course Curriculum Overview :
I chose the course due to an existing interest in electrical and electronics engineering. The faculty ratio here is good (around 1:14), and the faculty themselves are highly educated and are experts within their fields. The style of teaching varies immensely from professor to professor, but all of them instruct students well. The term exams are often tough, but due to relative grading, passing usually isn't an issue.
Placement Experience :
Students here become eligible for placements in the 7ty semester. Hundreds of companies from across the world come during the placement drive. Our highest placement was 2.4cr, but the average was around 18-19 lakhs. Around 85% of students got placed. I plan to get placed in a company and work there for 1-2 years, before pursuing a master's degree.
Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :
The overall fee for 4 years is around 12 lakhs, and being a government institute, the fees don't increase every year. For candidates that require it, financial assistance is also provided. Being in the second year I did not yet get a job.
Campus Life :
Iitg has a vibrant social life, with an amazing student fraternity. Our annual fest, Alcheringa, is the biggest in the northeast and takes place in September, with participants coming to the campus from colleges across the country. Techniche, our annual tech fest is a widely awaited event, and takes place in September. All manner of books and journals are available in our library which is usually well stocked in the same. Classrooms are air-conditioned and have every facility to help make the teaching process easier.
