IIT (ISM) Dhanbad Review

Remarks :

I got into IIT (ISM) Dhanbad after qualifying for the JEE Advanced Exam conducted by the IITs. One must have at least 75% in one's 12th Board examinations to be eligible to appear for the entrance exam. All the details regarding the exam are provided why the conducting authority. There are two stages for getting into any IIT. Firstly, the JEE Mains exam through which one qualifies for appearing in JEE Advanced and also to get a seat in the NITs. JEE Mains is conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA) and JEE Advanced by any of the Top 7 IITs. The JoSAA admission process although very long and confusing for many can be done easily with proper guidance and the candidate's vigilance. Seek reviews and help from the seniors of the college you are targeting. Also, consult your JEE mentors who can guide you very well. Keep yourself updated with every minute of information provided by JoSAA or else you may lose your seat despite qualifying for this extremely difficult examination.

Course Curriculum Overview :

The administration here at IIT (ISM) Dhanbad is very strict and the faculty is highly qualified. The faculty-to-student ratio is what there in other IITs. We have regular exams, quizzes, and other activities around the semester. The academic load is quite high keeping up the name of the IITs. We have relative grading here so it's a boon and bane at the same time depending on your preparation level and your batchmates too.

Internships Opportunities :

Internship opportunities are similar to those of placements which I have already mentioned. Decent, great for some, good for many. Could be better but Dhanbad's location makes it difficult for the recruiters.

Placement Experience :

The campus placements are decent. Many big companies come to our college both in core and non-core. The average package is around 18 lacs. CSE has 27-28 lacs, MnC (Integrated MTech) has 30 lacs, ECE 24-25 place, and EE 21-22 lacs. However, placements in petroleum, mining, and other branches are great (18-20 lacs average). The placements for core branches like Mechanical, and Chemical are average. We have decent internship opportunities. There's a lot of potential for placements and internships but the only drawback is the location of Dhanbad which makes it difficult for more big recruiters to visit the college.

Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :

The few for Burch is somewhat around 11 lacs for the 4 years. We do have provisions for fee relaxation for students with not-so-strong economic backgrounds. There are many scholarships for students based on their annual income, merits, and many more.

Campus Life :

The campus life here is great, not exceptional, to be honest, due to high academic pressure. It's just about the way you want to explore and use your college life in ways you want. Speaking of the facilities, we have all the facilities here at our college with any games, sports or clubs you could think of. We have Asia's 2nd largest library. The new boys hostel for 2nd and 3rd years, 'Aquamarine' is a sight to behold. One can't go wrong about the conditions of hostels here. The campus' beauty is just divine during the rainy seasons. We have 'Srijan', which is Eastern India's largest cultural fest in spring. 'Parakram', the annual sports fest is also the largest in eastern India. 'Concetto' is an annual tech fest during the autumn. 'Khanan' is the largest mining fest in India (not to forget the legacy of this college itself).

Course Curriculum Overview:

Electrical engineering being a circuital branch has a wide range of possibilities ahead. It can also be considered as evergreen branch whose demand is atleast not going to end soon. Faculty here are PhD professionals but some might not like the teaching methodologies as it is quite different from the regular schooling/coaching methodologies. Term exams are strictly followed and on basis of regular intervals to check learning process. It is pretty easy to pass the exams if someone only pays attention in class or refer to notes by professors.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The faculty are here so much more friendly. Some of them try to act like a professor but they are not. Some of the professors are very good and even they take the time to solve our doubts in their cabin. They support students in every aspect. They are good in every aspect. We have two teachers for physics and one for CSE.
