Remarks :
You have to qualify JEE advanced exam in order to qualify for IIT. The application form can be found on the Jee Advanced official website. Students with a reservation have low qualifying marks Gen students qualify for around 55 marks in Jee advanced whereas OBC students for 50 and SC, and ST students for 28 marks aggregate. The reservation system should be on the basis of the income criteria of the parents.
Course Curriculum Overview :
The Petroleum Engineering branch of IIT ISM Dhanbad is very renowned and is very great in terms of placement. There are several faculties for every subject of the course and around 90 students in the batch. All the faculties are very skilled in their respective teaching fields and their teaching style is equally great. Term exams are held on time and the level of hardness is pretty good.
Internships Opportunities :
The companies that visit the campus offer many opportunities for the students which can be grabbed if you are skilled enough. Projects are essential for cracking any interview and they highlight your skills.
Placement Experience :
Students from the 8th semester get eligible for placements, however right from the start of the 5th semester, they can go for intern and then try for pre-placement offers. There are 150+ companies visiting the campus for every branch and almost every company gives a job offer. The highest package is something around 60 lpa with a average package around 20-25 lpa. Students from every branch get decent placement. To go for a government job.
Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :
The fees are definitely hiked every year by a few amount which is obvious however the cost is pretty decent compared to other IIT's. Also students with reservations get the benefits like no tuition fees.
Campus Life :
Srijan is the official cultural fest conducted in February and Concetto is the technical fest held every year in September. ISM has most probably the best library with plenty of books for subject and nonsubject. Classrooms are fully equipped with wooden benches to sit on with fans on the rooftop. There are plenty of sports one can opt for and get skilled in. There are many cultural and technical clubs run by students on campus for the involvement of students and learning.
