How is girls hostel at NIT Jalandhar?

My sister attended NIT Jalandhar so I have a pretty good idea about the hostels at the institute. The girl's hostel of NIT Jalandhar is also called Saraswati Hostel is mainly issued to the girls who are studying in their first year. The distribution of rooms is done based on who comes at first, so it is not promised whether you are going to get a five, two, or one-seater room.

Hostel Rooms

• There are three types of rooms, the most common one consists of five-seater, then comes two-seaters, the comes the one-seater on.
• Facilities that are available in every room include a chair, table, almirah, LAN connection, proper lighting, a balcony, and charging slots.
• There is a gym within the hostel which is in the common room, where watching TV or hanging out with groups is usually done, rather than actually working out.
• There is only one mess which is not that big with the facility of a single air cooler for having a relaxed meal. Mess food is quite average in taste.

Washroom Facilities:

• There are eight bathrooms and eight washrooms on every floor respectively. There are fewer bathrooms and washrooms compared to the batch sizes.
• Bathroom facilities include a geyser, washing machine, mirrors, and 24-hour water supply.
• The hygiene and cleanliness of the washrooms are well-conserved by the hostel staff as they clean them twice a day.
• It gets a little problematic at times, during the mornings especially as there are insufficient bathrooms, so you may need to line up for taking a bath.

Committees:

Committees are made in order to manage everything in the hostel systematically. There are committees for the mess, hostel, network, etc.

Rules of Girls Hostel:

• Students are not allowed to roam within the campus even on Saturdays and Sundays, to maintain a ragging-free environment.
• Hostel timings were till 6 pm previously, which later on has been extended till 9 pm.
• Before going out anywhere, students have to submit a leave form and leave application, and after reassuring from the parent guardians the hostel caretakers permit the students to go out.
