MBA from the Indian Institute of Planning and Management

IPM IIM Indore, and B.Tech. IIT are not any better.

Many engineers pursue their MBAs after completing their engineering degrees. Because management and engineering jobs are distinct and an MBA should be pursued in the engineering field after gaining some experience, employers are becoming warier of hiring such people today.

Many students discover they are not interested in their chosen field and subsequently lose interest in engineering or management. So, you must first decide what you are interested in. Both courses are worthwhile, but only after you determine your areas of interest.

If you are only interested in the management sector, choose IPM; however, if you are interested in engineering, choose IIT because getting into this esteemed institution is already a herculean task. Additionally, keep in mind that no institute can guarantee great success unless you pursue the courses with a laser-like focus and are prepared to put in the work. As such, choose your course with the utmost concentration.

MBA from Indian Institute of Management Indore (2020)

Choosing between B.Tech IIT & MBA IIM and IPM IIM Indore is very difficult and both the programs have their own advantages.

B.Tech IIT & MBA IIM:

  • To get admission to an IIT, you will have to score good marks in the JEE exams first, and then to get admission in IIM, you will have to appear for the CAT exams, and here too you will have to score good marks. Both JEE and CAT are one of the toughest exams in our country, so you will have to put in a lot of effort and hard work to clear both exams.
  • To get a job in a top investment banking role, you will have to maintain very good academic records. You will also need CFA certification. Without these, it can get very difficult to get into such job roles.

IPM IIM Indore:

  • If you don't like subjects like physics and mathematics and you are not confident enough that you can score higher rankings in JEE exams to get admission to an IIT, then you should choose IPM IIM Indore.
  • With this option, you will miss technology-orientated roles, like Analytics, Tech. Consulting, Product Management. You will miss operation-based roles.
  • If you want out after 3 years of the course, i.e. after BBA, you won’t have as many job opportunities as B.Tech.

If you are interested in engineering then go for a B.Tech from IIT. After your B.Tech you may not need an MBA at all. Whereas, if you aren’t interested in Chemistry or Physics then choosing IPM will be better.
