The selection criteria of the MDI Gurgaon and NITIE are pretty different.

The National Institute of Industrial Engineering follows a structured format for the selection of candidates. Only the CAT score is considered by NITIE for PGDIM and PGDISEM admission programs. There is no other entrance examination score to be considered. One needs a minimum of 97+ percentile in CAT for scoring a seat in NITIE.

The first phase of selection criteria by NITIE is the shortlisting of candidates on the basis of their marks obtained in CAT. The cut-off marks vary for different categories. Only those who qualify the cut-off are called to phase 2 for selection. In phase 2, the interpersonal skills of the candidate are judged in the personal interview. Preference is given to students with work experience. The academic performance of the candidate is also considered in this phase. After this phase gets over, NITIE publishes the final list of candidates who are offered admission to PGDIM and PGDISEM programs. Apart from having a high percentile in CAT, candidates have to perform well in the personal interview round as well for scoring a seat in the program of their choice.

However, for MDI Gurgaon, you need a minimum of 95+ percentile in CAT. Students, who are shortlisted based on their CAT score are called for GD and PI which is followed by WAT. The institute assigns different weightage to various components including CAT score, GD-PI round, academics, and others for the final selection.
