If your priority is good placement opportunities and an excellent alumni network, Management Development Institute (MDI), Gurgaon is a good option to consider. MDI was established in collaboration with several global institutions like UNDP, UNIDO, World Bank, and ILO, with initial support from KfW, West Germany, and IFCI. MDI is the first business school in India to receive accreditation from the Association of MBAs (AMBA). The faculty at MDI is of high quality, and there is an excellent learning culture, which gives you plenty of opportunities to enjoy your time while studying.
If you are searching for the best B-school in India in terms of placement, ROI, infrastructure, alumni network, faculty, and other factors, MDI Gurgaon always ranks between 5 to 10. Other top-ranked B-schools in India include IIM Ahmedabad, IIM Bangalore, IIM Calcutta, XLRI, SPJIMR, IIM K, IIM I, SJMSOM IIT Bombay, and many others.
If you are searching for B-schools ranked by placement, the top schools include IIM A, IIM B, IIM C, FSM Delhi, SPJIMR, MDI G, XLRI, IIFT, IIM K, and NMIMS Mumbai. By considering your priorities and looking at various rankings and factors, you can make an informed decision about which B-school is the best fit for you.
If you are already earning a salary as high as INR 71 LPA, I don’t think an MBA from MDI Gurgaon will do you any good. If you have decided on going for an MBA nevertheless, target the top B Schools like IIM A, IIM B, IIM C, XLRI, FMS, or IIM L. Choosing MDI for MBA is recommended only if you have offers from average B Schools like new IIMs, SPJIMR, NITIE, etc.
So first you need to get maximum calls from the top B Schools only then can you make a wise and informed decision.
MDI Gurgaon is a great choice for an executive MBA program and is at par with other top-tier schools like IIM A, B, C, L, IIFT, FMS, XLRI, and IIT Delhi DMS. The 3-year executive MBA program for working professionals is extremely good, with the same course and faculty as that of the full-time one-year executive MBA and two-year full-time residential MBA program. It's an excellent institute and is even better than some of the newer IIMs.
However, it's important to note that the fees for the 3-year executive MBA program at MDI Gurgaon have increased enormously over the last few years and are almost 10 lakhs. If you're looking for other options, IIM Lucknow's Noida campus also offers a similar 3-year executive MBA program with fees of Rs 10 lakhs, and classes are held on weekends and weekdays.
IIFT Delhi is another option that offers a similar 3-year executive MBA program with fees of Rs 6.5 lakhs and classes on weekends. IIT Delhi also offers a similar 3-year executive MBA program with fees of Rs 4.10 lakhs, with classes on weekdays. FMS Executive MBA has fees of Rs 1 lakh only.
It's important to choose your education loan wisely, especially when considering the high fees for some of these programs. Make sure to do your research and compare the options before making a decision.
The NMP program of MDI is a well-known program that was initiated in the year 1988. The program is best suitable for Young Managers. Coming to the placement part, most of the students choosing this program are sponsored by the company they were working at and hence have to join back their company once their program is completed.
The general placements are also decent with around 70% placement percentage. But placements depend mostly on the knowledge gained and implemented in your job. Your performance throughout the program determines your placement.
The simple answer to your question is no, the new HR programs of IIM Ranchi, NMIMS, or XIMB are not at par with the established ones XLRI, TISS, MDI, and SCMHRD. The established programs especially that of XLRI are the epitome of HR programs. They cannot be compared to the new ones at any given level or parameter.
Now one can say that the curriculum can be replicated and learned faculty can be sought to match the quality of the HR program at these institutes. But the truth is faculty and curriculum are the main but not the only factors that determine an institute's worth. Its own culture, ethics, and background have a lot to do with the programs it offers.
So one cannot match XLRIs programs no matter how much they try.
Go for the IIM Lucknow ABM program only if you are sincerely inclined towards agri. If not then choosing ABM will limit your career prospects considerably and you might even regret it later.
MDI Gurgaon PGDM is one of the oldest programs that have great value. MDI Gurgaon can easily be called the country’s best B School. The admissions are solely based on merit so the quality of your peers is top-notch. Some major highlights of the institute and its PGDM program are
So you will not regret choosing MDI even over IIM Lucknow.
I asked a friend about the time it took him to pay back the loan he had taken to pursue PGDM at MDI Gurgaon. An estimate revealed 5-7 years. However this is subject to change as not everyone receives the same package.
Currently, MDI Gurgaon PGDM fees is ?23.47 Lakhs. On comparing this with the average package INR 26.65 LPA, we can say that the fees can be easily paid within 5 years time considering the interest and additional expenses.
But tell me is getting an equivalent package the only way to recover the fees. Is it not recovered through the knowledge you have gained, the various experiences and the gateway to success. One can never repay back the fees in reality.
