Nirma University is UGC recognized and is accredited by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council. NIT Surat, formerly known as the Sardar Vallabhbhai National Institute of Technology (SVNIT), is one of the thirty NITs recognized by the Indian government. The institute is home to the World Bank's 'Center of Excellence,' which studies flood control and water supplies. Nirma University is ranked 136th and SVNIT is ranked 54th by NIRF 2020 in Engineering.

Admission:

Nirma University-

• Admission to B.Tech programs is through JEE mains or GUJCET and ACPC, Gujrat. While for B. Arch programs, students need a NATA score.

• Admission to M.tech programs is through the GATE score.

• For MBA programs at NIRMA University, students require a valid CAT score.

• Admission to doctoral programs is done through scores obtained in national entrance tests such as GATE/NET/JRF and SET.

NIT Surat- It currently offers 6 undergraduate and 18 graduate programs and 3 integrated five-year degree courses for MSc along with doctoral programs.

• Admission to BTech courses is through JEE Mains or JEE Advanced.

• MTech admission is done through GATE.

• For Ph.D. students, UGC- NET/JRF/GATE scores are considered.

• The library at NIRMA University has over 55,000 books, 4409 bound volumes, 243 current journals, magazine and newspaper subscriptions, 2020 standards, and 700 ASCE, IEEE / IET, ACM, etc. e-journals.

• The Library of SVNIT is 49 years old and accommodates the needs of large groups of users including more than 2000 students, 200 faculty, 150 research scholars. It uses state-of-the-art technology and has been subscribed to access INDEST by MHRD.

Placement:

Cognizant, iFlex, Syntel, Cypress Semiconductor, Juniper, ARM, Deutsche Bank, Amazon, Tata Motors, etc. are the top recruiters at these institutes.

Both departments are top notch and of high repute. It lies in the interest of the beholder to discriminate the two, keeping their choice of interest into consideration.

It’s difficult to determine which institute is better. However, given below are information about the colleges which may help you make the decision.

Ranking:

• Nirma University: The college was ranked among the top 100 institutions in the country by NIRF in the academic year 2018.
• NIT Patna: The college was ranked as 134th by NIRF among top engineering colleges of India in the year 2019. 

Admission & Eligibility:

• Nirma University: For M.Tech in computer science engineering they need to be graduated and secure at least 55% in graduation apart from that they need to give the GATE exam.
• NIT Patna: To secure admissions in the college a candidate should get at least 50% in graduation and should appear for GATE exam.

Faculty:

• Nirma University: For almost every subject the faculty of the college provides a tutorial and a theory class.
• NIT Patna: The faculties are well qualified and have vast experience in both the terms, research, and even projects. 

Placements:

• Nirma University: The highest CTC that was offered was Rs.16.6 LPA and the average CTC that was recorded was 8.2 LPA. The top recruiting companies that visited the college were: - Infosys, Tata Motors, Amul, Amazon, Bajaj Alliance, Larsen and Toubro, Daiken, and Bajaj Auto.
• NIT Patna: In the year 2019, there were a total of 80 students available for placements in Computer science & Engineering, out of which all of them were selected. There were a total of 93 job offers from the company. The highest package went up to INR 39.2 LPA and the average package went up to INR 7.42 LPA.

Therefore, if a choice has to be made, one can look at the different parameters mentioned above.

FORE School of Management is a private non-profit institution approved by the AICTE and has a number of notable international tie-ups with top institutions. MBA at the institute has been ranked 18th, 26th, and 43rd in India by Outlook, BW Business World, and NIRF respectively.

Goa Institute of Management (GIM) has been accredited by the AICTE and NBA. The college was ranked 47th by NIRF rankings in the category of management institutions.

• Candidates are shortlisted and invited for the personal interview(PI) and theme development & presentation(TDP) round on the basis of their CAT/GMAT percentile.

• Shortlisted candidates are then called for the interview, written test, and business awareness quiz round.

The final merit list is prepared on the basis of the above criteria and marks in graduation. The course has a total of 180 seats available. MBA at FORE costs around 14.98 lakhs.

GIM:

• The minimum eligibility to apply at FORE is securing 50% in graduation from a recognized institution and a valid score in CAT/XAT/GMAT/CMAT exam.

• GIM conducts an interview for final selection.

The final merit list is prepared on the basis of the above criteria and marks in graduation. The course has a total of 240 seats available. MBA course fee at GIM is 16.98 lakhs for 2 years.

All three institutes are ranked among the top MBA institutes of the country.
