What should I chose between BITS Pilani Hyderabad ECE and IIT Kharagpur Manufacturing science and engineering?

AB

Lives in Bangalore

This answer can be answered in 2 aspects; branch wise and Institute wise.

Branch-wise, ECE is way ahead of Manufacturing Science and Engineering and has a wider scope after graduation. ECE students are hired by both electronics and software companies. Moreover, ECE is a major stream whereas Manufacturing is just a sub-stream under Mechanical Engineering.

Specifically talking about colleges only, I would suggest you choose IIT KGP which has a stronger brand name and legacy than BITS Pilani Hyderabad. Its reputation is not just limited to India and has great scope outside India as well. It gets better and more companies than BITS during campus placements.

One major point of difference is the location of both institutes. Hyderabad has a much superior location than IIT Kharagpur thus offering better college life and exposure. IIT KGP is remotely located and lacks the necessary industry touch and exposure.

You have to travel long distances just to eat or do shopping. You will miss out on city life and the opportunities it has to offer. While the campus is great, you have to stay inside as the world outside is desolate. Spending 4 years without much exposure might limit your opportunities.

Hyderabad on the other hand has everything city life has to offer apart from being a major IT hub. This makes it possible to apply for campus jobs as well which is not possible in the case of IIT KGP.

In the end, it’s you who has to make a decision. Go where your heart is inclined the most be it ECE or Manufacturing at IIT or BITS. Just make sure to make a decision that will not make you regret it later.

Which is better, EEE of NIT Calicut or ECE of NIT Durgapur?

Raktim Tarafdar Posted On : October 13th, 2023

NIT Calicut is the better possibility because of its efficient academics, infrastructure, and placement backing. Let us have a brief look at both institutes.

EEE at NIT Calicut

  • Electrical Engineering is one of the most demanding courses, which opens up an eccentric career, especially for the zealous and hardworking ones
  • Broad avenues for an electrical undergraduate include competitive exams like GATE, ESE, Defense Engineering Services, etc.
  • NITC has an exuberant competitive culture as it follows the prospectus and pattern of IIT Madras. This ensures a healthier learning environment for the students.

ECE at NIT Durgapur

  • Most of the students got settled as coders in the IT sector without any specialized knowledge about coding.
  • NIT DGP ensures good infrastructure, academics, and placement for the students, just like other NITs

In defiance of this, the top students opt for EEE at NITs over ECE. So, you can go with the choice of EEE at NIT for an upright career

How good is the ECE department of MNNIT Allahabad in terms of faculty, infrastructure, exposure and placements?

AB
Anuva Bhowmik Posted On : November 30th, 2023
Studied at MNNIT Allahabad

As a former ECE student at MNNIT Allahabad, I can say that this is one of the best departments of our college. MNNIT is one of the best choices for an ECE, among all the NITs.

Here are some details about the department-

  • Faculty-  As someone freshly out of school, this will come as a shock to you. Not just MNNIT, rather the faculty of all major Indian colleges is not up to the mark. But there are always some dedicated teachers among the lot, it is your job to find them and learn from them.

The ECE faculty is decent. Some teachers are really bad at teaching, but there is none who lacks knowledge. The department has some excellent researchers and administrators.

  • Infrastructure- The college infrastructure is not that good, it is in fact a bit disappointing. Regardless, the labs and academic block are well laid-out. Moreover, the ECE classrooms and labs are much better in comparison.
  • Exposure- The department makes every effort to provide its students with the best opportunities, but you need to take the first step and show genuine interest. The department will provide you the launchpad, but the effort has to come from your side.
  • Placements- This college is at par with the top engineering colleges of India in terms of ECE placements. The placement figures have been promising throughout. This is because of a highly sincere placement cell. Moreover, ECE students are eligible for jobs in almost all categories including IT, Software, Core and Consultancy.

The ECE department of MNNIT offers better grades, fewer classes, and comparatively lenient teachers. You’ll surely face ups and downs at the department, but in the end, it will all be worth it.
