The weekends at IIEST Shibpur are different because there are not any classes. Everybody gets a much longer time to try to do the thing they enjoy doing.

A friend of mine used to spend the entire weekend playing Counter-strike or FIFA. Many others also catch up on sleep. 

Except for Monday lab report submissions or exams within the Monday morning slot, students usually play, chat, watch movies, enjoy or do whatever gives them satisfaction during the weekend. This spares the weekends that involve INSTRUO or REBECA because the whole student community revels in these two events during that point. Apart from these two festivals, there is no uniformity within the best things that one can do on weekends while studying at IIEST Shibpur. However, Aerospace Engineering is not a trending branch anymore and it was in the limelight a decade ago. To open up more opportunities, you will be required to pursue a Master’s or prepare for the competitive exams to get a decent job. 

ECE at Heritage Institute is more prominent but being a private college, it is not up to the mark as compared to Aerospace Engineering. The placement opportunities at HIT are not good. Therefore, all you can do is to opt for IIEST, get a decent aggregate, and change the branch from Aerospace to ECE in the second year.

The college provides some amount to the toppers of each branch based on their ranks(CGPA) under the scholarship from GAABESU(Global Alumni Association of Bengal Engineering and Science University) office. Merit-Based Scholarship is given to departmental toppers for subsequent years too.

Not only for the toppers, but scholarships based on the financial status is also provided by the college to help such student. Also, Book-grants are available which helps you get books for every semester. You can avail of these scholarships from the GAABESU office on the campus.
