Ultimately the final decision is your to make based on your interests and goals.
I have arranged all the above colleges in the order of their general ranks.
IIEST Shibpur: One of the oldest institutes in the country.
IIT Gwalior: CSE-oriented college and as prestigious as NITs.
NIT Durgapur: A prime REC-to-NIT
NIT Jamshedpur: An old RIT/REC-to-NIT with excellent facilities and infrastructures.
NIT Jalandhar: An old REC-to-NIT
NIT Delhi: It lies in the capital and enjoys better connectivity.
NIT Goa: It is a new college, but lies in the coastal zone and has better connectivity.
NIT Hamirpur: Included in the NIRF rank list, but communication/connectivity is poor as it is located in hilly terrain.
Remember that the order can always be changed based on your own convenience regarding location. The general order is:
IIEST Shibpur>IIT Gwalior>NIT Durgapur>NIT Jamshedpur>NIT Jalandhar>NIT Delhi>NIT Goa>NIT Hamirpur
Change in branch is not a very difficult procedure at NIT Jalandhar. All you need to do is follow some simple tips that might help you:
Don’t miss classes. Make proper notes.
Don’t take any minor non seriously.
Don’t hesitate to talk with teachers.
Focus more on courses with more credits.
Basically if you are aiming at a branch change you should create a good image among the teachers. Get good grades and recognition and your task of changing branches will become easier.
There is no best student organization because they depend on your personal interest. But based on popularity I have listed the top 10 student organizations at NIT Jalandhar.
MADS(Music and Dance Society): This one is responsible for all cultural and religious events.
E-Cell(Entrepreneurship Cell): This cell was developed to instill entrepreneurship culture in the college. It conducts seminars, and internship fairs and also heads other cells like Media cell, Analytics cell, Research cell, etc.
Cult society: This organizes all the cultural activities of all the branches.
Quest: This is a quizzing club wherein general knowledge is imparted in a fun and interesting way.

Texstyles - This is an official society of Textile Engineers of NIT-Jalandhar.
Daksha: This is for making electric cars. It’s open to all branches to participate.
Trust me the list does not end here. There are many more. The versatility of these clubs aims at nurturing every possible talent at NIT Jalandhar.
NIT Jalandhar was ranked 31st in engineering colleges by the week and it was ranked 52nd by NIRF in the academic year 2020.
Admission:
NIT Jalandhar offers a BTech Biotechnology program and the admission is through JEE Mains.
Students who want to take admission into the BTech Biotechnology programs should have passed 10+2 with a minimum aggregate of 75% from any recognized university.
In 2019 the closing cutoff for Biotechnology was 79784.
The total course fee is 3.52 lakhs.
Faculty:
The faculty of the college is well experienced and well versed in the subjects that they teach. The teachers here are professionals, they have excellent industry knowledge and experience.
Placements:
There are 70% of the students who get placed for biotechnology but the package isn’t high.
The average salary package which is offered ranges between 4-5 lakhs.
Top recruiters at the institute are Adobe, Infosys, Collegedunia, Future First, etc.
The college can be good for students who maintain and score a good CGPA, they are the ones who get offered a high package.
If you are interested in IT Industry then without a second thought go for JAS Noida IT branch. This is because you cannot opt for upgrading your branch from textile to IT in NIT Jalandhar.
But if are interested in any other branch go for textile in NIT Jalandhar.
Taking textile at NIT Jalandhar will give you an additional benefit of rectifying your choice is you find you want to change the branch.
On of my friends told me of a person who ranked 60000 in JEE Mains. He got IPE in spot round, scored a CGPA of 9 and got into CSE. Such miracles require a lot of hard work. Being an NITian won’t hurt you in the long run.
In NIT Jalandhar, the marking system out of 100 is:
20 for minor 1
20 for minor 2
50 for major
10 for assignments
The grading system is as follows:
90–100 -> S grade =10
80–89 -> A grade =9
70–79 -> B grade =8
60–69 -> C grade=7
50–59 -> D grade=6
40–49->E grade=5
<40 is a fail no grade.
NIT Jalandhar follows a credit system wherein every subject is allotted a credit. For example
Maths has 4 credits. So if you get a B grade then your score will be 4*8= 32
CGPA Calculation: The sum of scores divided by total no.of credits gives your CGPA.
The admission process for the NITs in India is based on the JEE Main scores. The JEE Main is a national-level entrance exam conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA) for admission to undergraduate engineering courses in various NITs, IIITs, and other top engineering colleges across India.
The cutoff for admission to NIT Jalandhar varies every year depending on various factors such as the difficulty level of the exam, the number of applicants, and the availability of seats. However, to give you an idea, here are the JEE Main cutoff scores for NIT Jalandhar for the previous year:
It is important to note that these cutoff scores are subject to change every year and are only indicative. The actual cutoff scores may vary based on various factors, and it is advisable to keep an eye on the official website of NIT Jalandhar for the latest updates on admission and cutoff scores. Additionally, scoring above the cutoff score does not guarantee admission as there are several other factors that are considered during the admission process, such as eligibility criteria, category of the candidate, availability of seats, etc.
The better choice is undoubtedly EEE at BITS Goa than ECE at NIT Jalandhar.
NIT Jalandhar is still a developing institute whereas BITS Goa is a well-established institute that has got reputation all over the world. Most of the students have cracked competitive exams like GMAT, GRE, and UPSC, etc with a good rank.
You will interact with people who have appreciable knowledge and you will have healthy competition as BITS Goa don't have caste reservations.
Finally, if you can afford to join BITS then do it if not take a loan and don't worry about returns. You will get them in a year or maybe 2 years. Ultimately the choice is yours.
What matters is your JEE MAIN All India Rank, not your JEE MAIN marks. This is due to the fact that Marks is an absolute number, whereas your entry is determined by your relative performance, for which Rank is important. This holds true for all competitive Entrance Exams.
The JEE Main cut-offs at NIT Jalandhar differ depending on the course. Furthermore, the cut-off is determined by the student's category. There are also state and national quotas. The state quota accounts for 85% of the seats, with AQI accounting for the remaining 15%. JOSAA publishes the JEE Main cutoff for NIT Jalandhar on its official website. Also, keep in mind that the cutoff is determined by a variety of factors and varies from year to year. As a result, the cut-off for this year's JEE Main will differ slightly from last year's. You will know what is expected to be scored based on your interest (which NIT and which Branch).
