Manipal Institute of Technology is a highly regarded engineering college. Here are a few pros and cons of the institute

Pros:

  • MIT not only offers an amazing campus life but also a fun-filled life outside the campus.
  • The refined crowd at Manipal combined with its excellent environment will groom your personality as a whole.
  • MIT has a rich club culture that caters to almost every passion, hobby, and niche. You can work with people who share a similar passion.
  • MIT gives you ample opportunities to add value to your resume by joining IAESTE, doing some foreign internships, or being a part of Formula Manipal.
  • MIT has a good location and there are many places to explore on weekends like Goa, Agumbe, Coorg, and Gokarna.
  • The campus is beautiful with a picturesque view surrounded by western ghats.

Cons

  • Most people will have a notion that you are either too rich and got through donations or you had no other choice.
  • The crowd also has students who are involved in bad habits. If you become a part of them, you may end up ruining your career.
  • The facilities do little to teach students and set very challenging question papers.

Overall the pros clearly overshadow the cons so you can overlook them and consider joining MIT without any hesitation.

What are changes made or added in NSIT after it became NSUT?

LS
Lakshminath Sinha Posted On : August 21st, 2023
B.Tech in Computer Science Engineering, Netaji Subhas Institute of Technology

NSIT (Netaji Subhas Institute of Technology) became NSUT (Netaji Subhas University of Technology) in 2018. As a result of this change, a few key changes were made to the institution:

  1. NSUT transitioned from being a college to a full-fledged university. This means that it now has the autonomy to offer undergraduate, postgraduate and doctoral degrees, as well as conduct research.
  2. Students now get an NSUT degree instead of a DU degree.
  3. The intake has increased drastically.
  4. The course offered at the UG level now is BTech instead of BE.
  5. The infrastructure is being improved and an additional canteen is under the way.
  6. The curriculum was updated to include new courses and specializations, such as Artificial Intelligence and Data Science.
  7. The university also established new research centers and labs to support its academic and research programs.
  8. The university also expanded its campus, including new academic buildings and sports facilities.
  9. The university also changed its name from Netaji Subhas Institute of Technology to Netaji Subhas University of Technology.

These are some changes that have been made ever since NSUT became NSUT. More changes are expected in the future!

HS
Himangi Srivastava Posted On : November 18th, 2022
Student at Banaras Hindu University (2019-present)

My sister’s friend could not score a good rank in engineering but was lucky enough to get a seat in BHU UET for Maths Hons.

She shared her experience that this was the best decision of her life as she felt unique. She made a lot of memories and befriended many talented people.

She lived her college life to her fullest extent. From hostels to backlogs, she experienced all the fun. Despite creating hundreds of memories, today her batchmates are in IITs, 10% in IISc Banglore, 15% in IISERs, and 10% in IIMs. The others are booming in their own fields.

Every piece of Knowledge is worth it for your future. A well-structured curriculum is the main attraction of both UpGrad and BITS Pilani. The classes are conducted by experienced faculty, and they have an excellent curriculum that starts with the basics of data structure and then takes you to in-depth video lectures, case studies, and live sessions. The students have the opportunity to perform hands-on work in the live project sessions. The main attraction of this program is the mentors, as they ensure the student's development. How hard is it to score a 9.8+ CGPA in BITS Pilani?

DR
Deepshikha Roy Posted On : August 5th, 2023
studied at Birla Institute of Technology and Science, Pilani

It is not that difficult to maintain a 9.8+ CGPA over the course of a semester, but it is pretty hard in the first semester; you actually need to score 10 points to reach the goal. In the following semesters, you can be among the top 10 with good interaction with teachers during the lectures and a good performance in the class tests. Do not mug up the concepts and theory; rather, try to have a deeper understanding of every topic. And last, but not least, it is important to stay away from distractions and reduce your leisure time.

What are the things which differentiate NIT Surathkal from other NITs?

AC
Arindam Chakraborty Posted On : September 15th, 2023
Studied at National Institute of Technology Karnataka, Surathkal

Being at an NIT is itself a great deal. The tag of ‘Nitian’ holds lots of value and prestige. I am listing down certain unique elements of my college-

  1. ISRO has set up a Regional Academic Center for Space over here to carry out joint research and development activities in space tech.
  2. NIT Surathkal has its own private beach. The beach is just 10 minutes away from hostels, and the sunset here is absolutely breathtaking.
  3. There are many core industries located near the campus. You can work as an unpaid intern in them, in case you fail to land a paid internship. This comes as a great relief for students from Civil, Electrical, Metallurgy and Chemical.
  4. The campus contains numerous shops and canteens. An app named “ChangePay” is available exclusively for the campus students to order items, which will then be delivered to your hostel.
  5. Each year on Republic Day, one of the clubs of NITK (DDFC) organizes a one day fest called BHARAT DARSHAN. It is a competition between students from different states where you can represent your culture through dance, drama, etc. in order to win the title.
  6. There is a virtual lab on campus. There’s also a Centre for System Design (CSD).
  7. Here are some places you can visit from NITK- Kayaking, Coorg, Goa, Manipal, Malpe beach, Kudremukh, Chikmagalur, Mysore, Bangalore, Ooty, Jog falls, etc. . You can easily rent a two/four wheeler to visit these spots.
  8. NITK hosts its technical fest-ENGINEER, and its cultural fest-INCIDENT during the odd and even semesters respectively.

These are some of the unique elements of NIT Surathkal which make this college truly special.

What is better, BITS Pilani or IIT Roorkee?

RM
Rajashree Mukharjee Posted On : April 12th, 2023
M.Tech Control Engineering, Indian Institute of Technology, Roorkee (2021)

It is difficult to say which is better, BITS Pilani or IIT Roorkee, as they are both highly respected institutions in India. Both universities have strong programs in engineering, technology, and science.

However, BITS Pilani is known for its focus on undergraduate education, while IT Roorkee is known for its research programs. Yet if I was to choose one, I would have chosen BITS Pilani for BTech

  • You are free to opt for minors in finance or humanities and even take subjects from different branches of your interest provided that you clear the minimum credits for an engineering degree in the branch you are pursuing currently.
  • The attendance rules are very flexible giving students time to focus on their interests or even become an entrepreneur.
  • You get the opportunity to get employed in a top-notch industry of your choice apart from the placement offer from the institute as an internship in the final semester where chances of getting a job offer are very high.
  • The Placement scenario is much better at BITS Pilani than at IIT Roorkee

However, if you are someone who is interested in MTech in core branches or is inclined towards research work, then IIT Roorkee has a better research culture. Moreover, the extremely high fees at BITS Pilani might be a demotivating factor for many making IIT Roorkee a much better choice.

How is life like for a civil services aspirant in JNU, Delhi?

DS
Deepika Sinha Posted On : August 5th, 2023
studied at Jawaharlal Nehru University

The life of a civil service aspirant at JNU is worthwhile and interesting. It is a little bit tougher to stay focused and determined on campus. But many students with strong determination and motivation reached their goal. The life of a civil service aspirant is detailed below

  • They work very hard with a consistent study routine. They are stiff-minded and most of them wake up early in the morning and start their preparation
  • Books are their best companion, and rooms are filled with splendid books. They are quick-witted
  • They mugged up each and every topic that came under the background of humanities, arts, and science.  JNU has a vast library with a rich book collection starting at the 9th-grade level, and you can also make use of the bookshop available nearby the campus. This institution also has the advantage of a huge collection of online academic resources
  • The renewal of our registration every semester never lets us stay away from our goal. There are distractions on campus due to varied reasons, like politics. But a civil service aspirant should never fall for entertainment
  • JNU is gifted with experienced scholars, and they give full support to the students, especially civil service aspirants. You can contact any of the faculty to clear your doubts without any hesitation

Last but not least, Don’t mess up with your health during your studies; make sure you have 7 hours of sleep every day and do proper exercises, which will help you boost your energy and stay active

After completing a B.Tech from NIT Trichy, is it advisable to pursue an M.Tech in IITs or IISc?

PP
Pratik Parikh Posted On : July 19th, 2023
Lives in Bangalore

No, it's certainly not a wise decision to pursue an MTech after completing BTech from NIT Trichy. The courses and the approach are similar, giving you no newer perspectives and wasting 2 years as well as the money spent. A better alternative is to go for an MS or Ph.D. abroad instead. That will be the true utilization of your money, knowledge, and time.

However, if you are hesitant about going abroad, an MBA from an Indian B school is also a great option.

An MTech in IIT should only be considered if you have a low CGPA and have no project achievement up your sleeve. The MTech course will give you a second chance to improve your grades and work well on projects improving your profile as a whole. This will help you open better Ph.D. options. But if you are not planning to do one, then MTech is again of no use.
