B.Tech. from Deenbandhu Chhotu Ram University of Science and Technology DCRUST (2019)

Having known some people studying in both these colleges, I can share some information about them. This might help you make a decision.

Student Crowd:

  • During the 90s, YMCA was very popular and a lot of good students used to get admitted here.
  • Nowadays DCRUST enjoys a better student crowd, as many students from NCR are also getting admission here.

College Life:

  • DCRUST takes the lead here. If you prefer extracurricular activities, it is the right place for you.
  • They have activity clubs, literary events, social welfare clubs, and also a drama club called Sparsh.
  • These activities will help you groom your personality.

Hostels:

  • DCRUST is known to have better hostel facilities than YMCA.
  • Also, it is famous for Murthal Dhabas.

Placements:

  • YMCA tops this, as they have better placement opportunities than DCRUST.
  • A lot of notable companies participate in their placement program.
Categories YMCA Faridabad DCRUST Murthal
Placement Percentage 80% 70-80%
Highest CTC 28 LPA 8.21 LPA
Average CTC 12 LPA 4-5 LPA
Recruiting Companies Accenture, Wipro, Cognizant, TCS, etc. Tech Mahindra, Bosch, Fidelity, Jindal Iron and Steel, etc.

Both the colleges are more or less good to pursue your studies. Though it is suggested that if placements are your primary concern, go for YMCA. DCRUST will help you more with research-based knowledge.

What is a good CGPA in Anna University?

AK
Abhishek Karuna Posted On : December 1st, 2022
Former Student at Anna University, Tamil Nadu, India

There is nothing called a good CGPA. CHPA depends on what you are willing to do afterwards.

For a job: As far as placements are concerned, anything above 7 or 7.5 will fetch you a decent job. 8+ will get you even better jobs in flagship companies.

For higher studies: If you want to pursue higher studies, much more is considered than just CGPA. Some of these factors are 10 and 12 marks, GPA and work experience.

So an 8+ GPA will get you both a good job and colleges. But it’s not the sole factor. It all comes down to how much efforts you are willing to put.

What are the pros and cons of dual degree at IIIT Hyderabad?

AJ
Adinath Jain Posted On : August 2nd, 2023
Studied at IIIT Hyderabad

I am listing below separately, the pros and cons of joining the dual degree program at IIIT Hyderabad-

Pros-

  1. If you are interested in research, a dual degree is a great option, be it for industry or academics.
  2. You will be exposed to quality research as early as your 3rd year. You will suddenly relate to what is being taught and start enjoying the experience.
  3. You will get a chance to publish your work in reputed conferences and journals and attend national and international conferences. DD students at IIIT Hyderabad publish as early as the third year in collaboration with international researchers.
  4. You may get to collaborate with leading universities and can even intern with the same researchers. This way your internship will be related to and relevant to your research work.
  5. Getting a Ph.D. from foreign universities is easier because you will have extensive experience in research and publications. IIIT Hyderabad DD students go to prominent universities in the US and UK for their PhDs.
  6. Getting into R&D teams also gets easier, especially today, when most R&D teams prefer Masters students rather than B.Tech students.

Cons:

  1. Do not choose DD if you wish to go for S/W jobs and not research in the future.
  2. The course duration for DD (B.Tech+MS) may extend beyond 5 years because MS is research and outcome-based, and not time-based like M.Tech. Earlier the average time for completing DD was 6 years which has come down to 5.5 years in recent years.
  3. It is difficult for a 12th pass out to assess whether or not they will like research.

Thus, it is up to you to choose DD at IIIT Hyderabad. However, if you do plan to go into research, DD program is the ideal choice for you and IIIT Hyderabad is the ideal institution.

How one can prepare for UPSC while studying in Delhi University?

GR
Gauri Rao Posted On : November 8th, 2021
studied B.A. Prog in Economics and Political Science, University of Delhi (2021)

With the presence of like-minded people, Delhi University offers the best exposure on campus. You will be interacting with experts from various fields and you should make the most of it.

It is important to keep yourself updated with current affairs. Do not bulk things up and start studying on a daily basis. You can focus fully on UPSC preparation as DU gives less attention to attendance.

The syllabus for UPSC requires a basic knowledge of topics from History, Economics, Political Science, Environmental Science. For this, the best suitable program will be BA Programme to study at DU.

If you have enrolled in any other subject, then you should start studying topics from NCERT and current affairs. Apart from this, joining a coaching institute will always be an option but self-study is more important.

Which is best for CS out of NSIT, DTU, and BITS Pilani?

TA
Tithi Aggrawal Posted On : July 6th, 2023
Lives in New Delhi

DTU and NSIT have a number of reservation policies like caste, Delhi quota, and numerous sub-quotas, so the quality of the crowd is average. Anyone who gets to choose BITS Pilani instead will never choose DTU and NSIT. BITS Pilani accepts admission solely on the basis of merit and thus the crowd quality is superior to that of DTU. Sparing the locational factor, BITS has an upper hand in every aspect. Moreover, it’s the only institute to enjoy global recognition apart from IITs.

Specifically talking about CS, the number of Google Summer of Code selections from there is a testament to the credibility of the CS branch here. If you look at the bigger picture and compromise on the location, you will be gaining much more than Delhites.
