MS Ramaiah (MSRIT) is considered as one of the top engineering colleges in Karnataka and is among the top 50 institutes across India as per the preferences of potential candidates. It has an all-India reputation of being a decent institute. But BIT Sindri is mostly known among the people of Jharkhand only.

Among the two institutes, MS Ramaiah is the better option due to the overall placement scenario, exposure in the corporate and IT industries, and several other reasons listed below.

The table below gives a brief comparison between the two institutes.

Which college should I take: NIT Hamirpur or MIT Manipal?

AB
Aditi Banerjee Posted On : September 14th, 2023
Lives in Bangalore

I will recommend you opt for MIT Manipal instead of NIT Hamirpur. One of my friends recently completed his graduation from MIT Manipal and based on what he shared, it’s the right choice for you. I will enumerate a few reasons why it seems a better option than NIT Hamirpur

  • Most of his batch mates went on to pursue diverse careers. Some joined IAS while some got admission to top B Schools and Tech Schools both abroad and in India. Some others are doing really well in corporations while some have become successful entrepreneurs. Such excellence is nothing but a reflection of what the institute delivers.
  • MIT Manipal offers the dream college life every engineering student desires. There is a lot of freedom and diversity on campus. Moreover, the crowd is a rich blend of talented Indian and foreign students.
  • MIT Manipal promotes research and innovation to a great extent. My friend authored 7 papers there that helped him get a job with R&D. Many others collaborated with Doctors, Management Graduates, Pharmacists, and 16 other disciplines back then to research, innovate, and start-up.
  • The location plays a big role in improving its brand value. Manipal is close to two growth centers in India - Bangalore and Mumbai. This attracts more and better companies and offers.
  • Many niche disciplines such as aeronautical engineering and automobile are taught here by the best faculty.
  • Every year many students clear competitive exams like the GATE and GRE, and management entrance exams like the CAT and XAT.
  • Students are exposed to numerous opportunities such as the Model UN.

No doubt Manipal charges exorbitantly high fees but by the end of your graduation you will feel every penny was after all worth it!

Which one should I choose, PDPU for a TFW or BVM for a civil engineering?

UR
Utsav Roy Posted On : January 14th, 2021
B.Tech Industrial Engineering, Pandit Deendayal Petroleum University, Gandhinagar (2018)

Among the above two, PDPU for a TFW should be the better choice for a series of reasons, fees being the prime one. The fee structure is quite low, and you can get a waiver of almost Rs.1.15 Lakhs per semester in PDPU.

A brief overview of the two colleges is stated below.

Particulars

PDPU

BVM

Tuition Fee (1st year)

29,000 (approx.)

1,31,000

Average CTC

4-5 LPA

2 LPA

Fee Structure: (Winning Institute - PDPU)

  • It is evident from the fee structure of the above two colleges that PDPU will cost much less under the category of Complete Tuition Fee Waiver. Other than TFW, PDPU would cost almost the same as BVM in general (1,34,000 for the 1st year).
  • The hostel fees for the two colleges are quite similar, having 2-seater and 3-seater rooms with or without A/C, with an annual compensation within the range stated above.

Course Facilities: (Winning Institute - PDPU)

  • PDPU has an excellent curriculum and placement for Petroleum, Mechanical, and Chemical engineering departments. Other than that, candidates can opt for CS/IT branches which are new yet decent in overall development.
  • BVM Civil Engineering has limited career opportunities. There is a very less chance of getting placed in-campus or getting some career advancement from it.

PDPU, as the name suggests, is an excellent college for Petroleum Engineering also one of the best colleges in Gujarat on an overall scale.

Which is better, civil at IIT Bhubaneswar or metallurgy at IIT Indore?

PK
Pravesh Kumar Posted On : August 14th, 2020
B.Tech Electrical Engineering, Indian Institute of Technology, Bhubaneswar (2022)

Both the branches are totally different from each other so first decide what you want to study for the next 4 years. Both the IITs are new and there is not much difference in them. Metallurgy is a sub-branch of mechanical and civil is a core branch. Civil engineering has better job opportunities if you compare it to metallurgy engineering.

The average package at IIT Indore for the year 2019 was 16.05 LPA and at IIT Bhubaneswar it was 11.44 LPA. If you want to get a job in the core-sector then it would be a bit difficult because both the branches have very low placements in the core sector. Students usually go for higher studies and others for non core placements. Civil engineering will give you a better opportunity if you want to go for higher studies.

The suggestion will be that you should focus on what branch you are more passionate about and choose that. Don’t go compare colleges, both are IITs therefore are equally good and offer similar facilities.

Is MBA better than CA?

SM
Sushmita Mukherjee Posted On : October 29th, 2020
PGDM from SVKM's NMIMS (2016)

MBA is offered as a 2 year full time program MBA in India. It is one of the most popular postgraduate courses in India. Admission in MBA is based on the CAT, XAT, CMAT, Gmat, etc. exams. The entire Chartered Accountant course takes 5 years for completion. Students have to go through a CPT (Common Proficiency Test) which will lead to the inclusion in ICAT (Indian Chartered Accountants Institute).

The table given below shows a brief overview of both programs:

MBA Recruiting Companies -

The top recruiting companies include Deloitte, Accenture, Infosys, Capgemini, Citibank, ITC, Nestle, Saint Gobain, JP Morgan, Wipro, Microsoft, Phillips, Reliance, L&T, McKinsey & Company, Avendus, Asian Paints, etc.

CA Recruiting Companies -

The top recruiting companies include JP Morgan, KPMG, Deloitte, E&Y, Federal Bank, Lodha & Co., IDFC Bank, Luthra & Luthra, Citibank, Edelweiss, Morgan Stanley, etc.

Admission:

  • Admission in MBA is based on the various entrance examinations like CAT, CMAT, SNAP, XAT, MAT and NMAT.
  • CA admissions is based on the Common Proficiency Test (CPT), Intermediate (Integrated Professional Competence) Examination and a Final Examination.

The amount invested in a CA is less compared to an MBA degree. Out of 100 only 3-5% of candidates are able to qualify with CA and get certified. 90-95% of candidates who opt for MBA courses end up getting good jobs with generous salary packages. So the demand of pursuing MBA is much higher in India than CA.

Which one is better, MAIT CSE or DTU BT/ENE/EP/PCT?

TS
Tanvi Sinha Posted On : March 29th, 2023
B.Tech Information Technology, Delhi Technological University (2020)

When deciding between engineering branches, it is important to consider your future goals and current interests. Here are some points to help you make an informed decision:

  • Consider your plans: If you plan to pursue an MS abroad after graduation, then CSE may be a better option as Indians are highly sought after in the IT industry abroad. However, if you plan to work in India, both branches are equally good.
  • Think about your career path: If you are interested in non-technical roles like consulting and marketing, then either branch would suffice. However, if you are interested in hardcore engineering jobs, then both branches are equally good.
  • Look at the exposure provided: DTU offers excellent exposure as the number of non-tech companies visiting DTU is more than the total number of companies visiting any IP college. However, both branches offer good exposure in their respective fields.
  • Evaluate your interests: If you are inclined towards a particular branch, then it would be better to pursue that branch as it will help you maintain interest and focus on your studies.

In conclusion, both branches have their advantages, and the choice ultimately depends on your personal preferences and career goals. While DTU provides excellent exposure, CSE may be a better option if you plan to pursue an MS abroad.

Which should I choose: XLRI BM or IIM Kozhikode?

RB
Rajashree Banerjee Posted On : June 16th, 2022
MBA in International Business, Indian Institute of Foreign Trade, Delhi

XLRI BM is the better option. It is an old B-School and ranks right after IIM A, B, and C. It has a large and varied alumni network. You will find XLRI alumni in almost every reputed companies.

XLRI BM has a smaller batch size. So, it’s easier for students to get decent job opportunities. XLRI placements are great. During the 2022 placement drive, the average CTC received by the students was INR 30 LPA.
