Is BITS Pilani "Pilani campus" better than IIT Roorkee or IIT Guwahati?

TA
Tithi Aggrawal Posted On : April 28th, 2023

In my opinion, both BITS Pilani and IIT Roorkee are in the same league while IIT Guwahati is a bit inferior to them. Let’s discuss further on the basis of some very common aspects

  • Core subjects: BITS Pilani does not focus on core subjects and the research culture is also very inactive. This is because of the extremely laid-back curriculum and attendance policy. The research opportunities offered are very less in comparison to IITs
  • Placements: In this aspect, BITS Pilani definitely fairs better with its flagship Practice School program. Students of this program receive many PPOs from top companies during internships arranged by the college itself.
  • Campus life: IMHO BITS offers the best campus life owing to the student-driven culture and great academic flexibility.
  • Performance: The institutes can be evaluated on the basis of the performance of their students in various entrance exams. IIT Roorkee students score the best in GATE, UPSC, etc. while BITS Pilani scores well in CAT, GMAT, and GRE.
  • Peer groups: The average student quality of both the institutes is somewhat similar with IIT Roorkee giving a slight edge to BITS Pilani in this aspect.

Both the colleges have their own strengths and weaknesses and comparing them is illogical. I would say that if you are genuinely interested in CSE, then Pilani will be better for you than Roorkee. But if you aren’t certain of your area of interest then choose IIT Roorkee for its IIT tag.

What marks and rank is required to get Aerospace Engineering in IIT Bombay in JEE Advanced 2024?

AT
Adwait Tejas Posted On : March 20th, 2023
studied Aerospace and Aeronautical Engineering at Indian Institute of Technology, Bombay (2021)

The JEE Advanced cutoff 2023 for Aerospace Engineering at IIT Bombay has not been released yet.

Factors determining IITs Cutoff 2023 for B.Tech Aerospace Engineering are

  • Previous years’ cutoff trends
  • Difficulty level of JEE Advanced 2023.
  • The total number of candidates who appeared for the entrance examination.
  • Number of applicants for Aerospace Engineering in each institute.
  • Previous Years’ IITs Cutoff for B.Tech Aerospace Engineering

You can check the previous years’ cutoff of IITs for B.Tech Aerospace Engineering for reference from the tables given below.

Category

Cutoff

General

2119

OBC

1211

EWS

496

General (PWD)

164

SC

726

ST

396

As far as marks are considered I think scoring above 50% of the maximum marks will guarantee a rank close to 2000 which is sufficient for getting Aerospace at IITK, IIT-KGP, IITM but maybe not IIT-B. However, don't limit your efforts to attain the required rank only. Work hard and give your best and try to rank as high as you can.

Also, I would suggest you to go for IIT Kanpur if you are interested in Aerospace as it has better facilities in this branch. But it is a well-known fact that the job prospects in Aerospace are very limited in India.

If you get a rank of more than 10000, go for IIST, Trivandrum.

NIT Warangal is an excellent place for your graduate studies. It is a renowned NIT that offers great exposure and ample opportunities.

The Biotechnology curriculum is designed in a manner that students from a nonbiology background can easily understand it. Moreover, topics like Fluid Mechanics & Heat Transfer, Mass Transfer, Industrial Management, etc. do not have any Biology related terms. Other topics in Biotechnology are Cell Biology, Genetics, Bioinformatics, Bio-nanotechnology, etc. The topics are theoretical but you will grow familiar with the concepts within them.

As for the Biotechnology Department at NIT Warangal, it has decent labs. The course curriculum for Biotechnology is well structured at NITW. For a career in Biotechnology, the NITW faculty provides ample support and guidance for projects, internships, exchange programs, etc. If you want a decent career in Biotechnology, it is highly recommended to complete your Masters.

In case you do not have an interest in Biotechnology, like the majority of Biotech students, you can sit for campus placements at NIT Warangal. Which is the best, RMK Engineering College or Rajalakshmi Engineering College?

SS
Sudhakar Sharma Posted On : July 1st, 2021
Studied at Rajalakshmi Engineering College

In terms of teaching, both Rajalakshmi Engineering College and RMK are good. The faculty is well qualified who are dynamic and many of them are Ph.D holders. REC is good in terms of exposure and extra co-curricular activities, compare to RMK.

RMK has a mess in which you get good non-veg food with desserts along with tea and snacks in the evening. But REC has 3-4 canteens inside and outside which gives you good quality of food but the only negative point is that they don't serve non-veg food.

REC is lenient when compared with RMK in terms of dress code, communicating with your classmates, using phones and laptops. Campus ambiance is good in both REC and RMK. Now the REC campus has been renovated and it has more greenery when compared to past days.

In terms of placement at RMK, you will get several opportunities for IT companies and limited offers for civil and mechanical. REC provides a lot of training programs and ensures that each student gets placed. Some of the recruiters are TATA, WIPRO and the list goes on.

If you have options to pursue an MBBS in AIIMS Bhubaneswar or JIPMER, Puducherry, which college would you prefer now?

TA
Tithi Aggrawal Posted On : June 1st, 2023

Both JIPMER and AIIMS Bhubaneswar are equally good in terms of infrastructure and academics. While JIPMER has a magnificent campus, AIIMS Bhubaneswar buildings are more modern because of recent construction. Overall, there aren't many differences between the 2 institutes. The academics, infrastructure, and hostel facilities are somewhat similar. but if I was in your place, I would have chosen JIPMER, Puducherry for UG over AIIMS Bhubaneswar. While this may surprise many, I have logical reasons to support my stance. The one solid reason why I chose JIPMER was the beauty and the places to explore.

  • The breakfast shops in Auroville
  • The Rocky Beach with moonlight shimmering on the water.
  • The Le Cafe
  • Villa Shanti
  • Villa Helena, Celine’s Kitchen, DisDis&Co, Satsunga, Le Club, Rendezvous, Villa Krish, Coromandel Cafe, and many more.
  • A pretty resort, Ocean Spray

While some might find it illogical to prefer a certain institute just because of the restaurants near it, for me it certainly is a valid point. As a medical student, it’s very important to take breaks and these beautiful places will surely take you to a different world.

However, JIPMER is suitable only for UG. For PG, AIIMS Bhubaneswar is the best option because the language barrier is a major problem in the South.

Overall, JIPMER is an excellent option for UG while AIIMS Bhubaneswar can be preferred for PG,

Among these, Calcutta University is better. The university sets the most difficult question papers. You need to put in a lot of effort to score even 60 percent. With the same amount of effort, you can score 80 percent in DU.

Naturally, CU puts emphasis on in-depth learning. CU students have a more academic-oriented life. While students of DU have the freedom to carry out secondary endeavors.
