Studied at Delhi University (2018)

There are no such major differences between CS and IT departments as the course structure is very similar to both the departments except for a few subjects. Almost all companies accept students from both the departments for interviews.

But between these two colleges, you should choose KJ Somaiya College of Engineering as it will be a better choice and here are a few reasons.

  • This is an autonomous college that has many benefits of its own.
  • They also keep the course curriculum updated with time.
  • The placement opportunities are very good as almost all the top recruiters visit the campus for interviews and recruit many students with good packages.
  • This college has a good reputation in the industry and possesses a strong brand value.
  • Students of this college have a very good social life as there are many different councils which they can join.
  • Various fests and cultural events are being organized regularly on the campus.

Which college is better for CS, VIT Pune or VIIT Pune (since both are autonomous now)?

DB

Clearly, VIT Pune is better than VIIT Pune. Although both VIT and VIIT are autonomous under the same trust i.e. Bansilal Ramnath Agarwal Charitable Trust, VIT has been operating as an autonomous body for a long time as compared to VIIT. Being in this field for a long period grants them immense experience.

Given below is a brief overview of the cs program at VIIT Pune and VIT Pune.

Cutoff: (Winning Institute - VIT Pune)

VIT Pune has a higher cut-off than VIIT Pune.

  • In 2019 the closing cutoff for CS in round 3 of counseling was 1100 at VIT Pune. For VIIT Pune it was 2648 for the same.

  • The student-crowd is the best in VIT and you will be among hardworking and serious peers.

The placement opportunities are ahead in VIT Pune when compared to VIIT Pune.

  • For the 2020 batch, the highest package offered was 27 LPA and the average package stood at 6.68 LPA in VIT Pune.

  • More than 120 companies visited VIT Pune for recruitment.

Out of textile engineering from VJTI and CS from KJ Somaiya, CS from Somaiya will be a better choice. As one of my friends studied there, I am able to share some facts about it.

  • CSE is a trending branch and the most popular one. The best option for you will be KJ Somaiya.
  • When it comes to placement at KJ Somaiya, they are decent. A total of 70 companies visited the campus for on-campus placements and offered great salary packages.
  • The campus life at KJ Somaiya is amazing and is very welcoming.
  • KJ Somaiya is an autonomous college and there are many advantages of being from a college with an autonomous status.

Which should I prefer, ECE at IIT Bhubaneswar or COE at DTU?

A
Admin Posted On : July 11th, 2024

I am a second-year student of ECE at IIT Bhubaneswar.

I think you can go for B.Tech ECE at IIT Bhubaneswar. Even though DTU is a reputed institute, it is mostly known in the Northern parts of India. On the other hand, IIT Bhubaneswar carries the IIT tag, which is recognised nationally and globally.

As a central institution, IIT Bhubaneswar has a more diverse crowd as compared to DTU (also because DTU has a huge Delhi quota). This allows for a better exposure and exchange of values. This will in turn, help you in your profession when dealing with people from diverse socio-cultural backgrounds.

ECE is as good a branch as CoE/CSE, and you can easily get a job at an IT firm by learning coding on the side. Moreover, ECE students are allowed to sit for a large number of IT companies during placements.

Here’s a comparison between IIT Bhubaneswar and DTU for your reference:

Parameters

ECE at IIT Bhubaneswar

COE at DTU

NIRF 2023 Engineering Ranking

#47

#29

Highest Package (2023)

INR 44.62 LPA

INR 82.05 LPA

Average Package (2023)

INR 22.85 LPA

INR 23.70 LPA

Top Recruiters

Google, Adobe, Amazon, TCS, etc.

Samsung, Microsoft, Zomato, Flipkart, etc.

Since the placements at both the institutions are good, I would recommend you consider the other factors and choose B.Tech ECE at IIT Bhubaneswar.

According to The Week, both VIT Pune and VIIT are ranked 15th and 100th for engineering. But both have their pros and cons.

Admission:

Infrastructure:

VIT-

There are three fully functional laboratories devoted to the electronic courses. These laboratories are highly advanced with upgrade technologies. A central as well as a departmental library are also present, filled with thousands of books and journals.

VIIT-

VIIT also offers good infrastructure. The campus is fully air-conditioned. The laboratories for CS are well-equipped to carry out academic and research works.

Teaching faculty:

VIT-

They have 70+ professors just in B.Tech whereas, for the electronics department, more than 13 professors are available all the time.

VIIT-

Along with the department professors, there are many guest faculties who visit the campus regularly. The faculties are experienced and well-qualified.

Placement:

VIT:

  • The average CTC of the electronics department is 4.5 lacs.
  • More than 100 companies visit college every year including Titan Engineering Company Pvt Ltd, Vedula Engineering Pvt Ltd, Havells India Ltd, etc.
  • The highest, as well as the Lowest package of Electronics, are 48 lacs and 4.71 lacs respectively.

VIIT:

  • According to the previous year's data, 84% of the CS students got good jobs in multinational companies.
  • Companies like IBM, Wipro, Oracle, TCS are some famous brands coming over here.
  • 46 lacs per year was the maximum package given in the CSE department.

As the courses are different it is difficult to decide which will be the better option. You should choose the course you are more interested in.
