I am not saying that taking a dropout is a bad decision. Most people who appear for JEE more than once tend to score better after the first time. It is not an issue and don’t let people convince you otherwise.
However, you should have a very just reason for taking a drop. Just because you couldn’t get into your dream branch does not mean, you cannot do well in other branches. In that case, you can consider the CS branch of other 2nd-tier Engineering colleges rather than taking a drop year. Moreover, you will be answerable for the same in your interview, and might work against your favor in your interview.
On research, you will find that the median salary of IIT Guwahati and other engineering colleges is almost on par with that of IIT Kanpur and Madras. There is a difference, but not big enough to make you take a year drop out. Ultimately, only you can make the decision but I have laid down the cards, make a wise decision.
Well, although the papers of XGMT for XIMB are not even close to the difficulty levels of CAT/XAT but somewhat as same as that of TISS/SNAP or could be a bit tougher than CMAT.
You should be clear with your basics to be ready for the examination.
Agriculture and Food Engineering faces no competition in the Indian market and thus its students usually target higher studies from foreign universities. Basically, no other IIT has had this branch till now.
The course curriculum includes basic principles of chemical engineering, mechanical engineering, and civil engineering, but each of these is taught in agricultural aspects.
Since the students of this course do not specialize in any branch, the placement scenario of this branch is very poor. Agricultural Engineering companies might have a special interest in you but the main problem is this branch is not known to many top companies. Eventually, there are only a very few core companies that offer placements.
The worst part is that even companies offering non-core jobs that are open for students of all branches don’t consider students of this specific branch. So it all depends on your individual performance and your profile.
Hence the scope of non-core jobs in this department is decent and depends mostly on your individual profile and performance.
Dyal Singh College of DU should be the choice, without any doubt. Despite being a south-campus college, it provides numerous benefits to its students. A few examples are:
1) LUXURIOUS LOCATION
Having said that, Dyal Singh College is located on LODHI ROAD, one of Delhi's most affluent areas. Lodhi Gardens, Safdarjung Tomb, Humayun Tomb, Indian Habitat Centre, Khan Market, and many other tourist attractions surround the college.
2) MASSIVE CAMPUS
Dyal Singh College has the largest campus and building of any south campus college, with a large student body. Yes, you will always discover new places within the college to hang out with your friends, even after graduation.
3) YUMMY SNACK POINTS
You'll find some amazing food joints right outside the college's entrance. The famous "LOVE DI HATTI" and "MAGGI POINT" will never disappoint you. The college canteen also serves delicious food at reasonable prices.
4) DIFFERENT & TALENTED SOCIETIES
Dyal Singh is always known for amazing talents from various states that are highlighted by society. College offers " ZEST " - the extraordinary dance talent, " GLAMORRATTI " - the most stylish Fashion society, " ROOTS " - the melodious Music society, " THE PLACEMENT CELL " -the internships & jobs Provider of Dyal Singh, "ASTITVA " -the Drama society, "JAMINI " -the Creative Arts society, "XPOSURE " -the Photography society, "COMSOC " -the diligent Commerce Society of the college.
5) TEACHERS WHO ARE FRIENDLY AND SUPPORTIVE
Dyal Singh always wins the hearts of his students thanks to his amazing teachers. Almost all departments have friendly teachers who will support you throughout your college career.
Dyal Singh College is NAAC (Grade A) accredited, whereas PGDAV is not. The former charges less for B.com Hons (INR 27585) than PGDAV (INR 54810). (Estimation based on fees for the first year)
Dyal Singh College has 208 seats and has better infrastructure and facilities, while Pgdav has 186 in b.com Hons.
There are quite a few disciplines you can choose from when it comes to M.Tech programs at NIT Trichy. To put it straight, G1 is the first group with a few selected disciplines, G2 with another set, and so forth.
The only reason why the college has done this is to effectively manage the total seats available and divide them group-wise.
For example, a particular program having a 30 seat intake can possibly be distributed as G1 with 15 seats and G2 having 8 seats, and the remaining given to G3. This easily helps segregate and understand groups.
Keep in mind that the cutoff varies for each program. The only reason why these groups were created is to allot seats to each discipline.
Instead of recommending any specific institute, there are some myths that need to be debunked first:
You must compare the two courses based on the following features:
If you're specifically interested in CSE, then the first four points are almost equal for both BHU and Guwahati. When it comes to the other points, IITG has a better climate, while Varanasi may be better connected and nearer to your hometown.
So, it's up to you to weigh the pros and cons and decide which institute suits you better. Remember to make an informed decision and choose wisely.
The campus assists the students with the Wi-Fi facility and everyone is given the passwords. Moreover, you can make use of DC++ to get speeds up to 10-15 Mbps. So, for an 800 MB movie, it shall take a minute to download and hours to consume.
DC usually works on intranet suffices for the slow speed and you get almost everything you want.
Furthermore, it’s better than BSNL. But not all sites are accessible. Wi-Fi is there only in a few parts of the faculty division, and accessible from some of the hostels which are located near staff quarters. Basically, it is meant for professors' use.
MAMC is a good option and well-recognized in the medical fraternity. You won’t regret joining the institute. Also, in medical field, your institute name won’t matter much. If you want to pursue higher studies after graduation, you need to follow the same steps, irrespective of whether you are graduating from AIIMS or MAMC.
After joining MAMC, you also have the option to prepare for AIIMS next year. It will be difficult, but doable.
I have a few friends at NMIMS Shirpur, so I can tell you a little bit about the campus life at the institute.
This campus is ragging-free and the protocols are strict and require to be followed by every student. The campus is smoking and alcohol-free. If one is caught doing any act which violates the college rules and regulations, they will have to face severe punishment.
Both colleges have nearly identical fee structures. Top consulting firms such as Mckinsey, EY, and Frost & Sullivan hire from K but not SP Jain. BCG, Accenture Strategy, PWC, Deloitte, KPMG, PRTM, CBC, and others have all visited both. While consulting firms extended 41% of all offers, the median salary increased by 32.5 percent from 2021 to 2022. Consulting emerged as the top recruiting sector at SPJ, with offers extended to 38% of the 238 participants.
In terms of middle office IBD and Wealth Management roles offered by JP Morgan, Deutsche Bank, Goldman Sachs, Bank of America, and Credit Suisse, K clearly outperforms SPJ. However, SPJain had a better scene in corporate finance, with Mondelez, GE, and Vodafone all offering corp fin. In Corporate Banking/Treasury, the number of companies visiting both is equal, with Citi, Yes Bank, ICICI, Axis, IDFC, IndusInd, and others visiting both. JM Financials and Standard Chartered are two brands that do not hire from K for corp banking. For the first time, Deutsche Bank has hired exclusively from K for their corporate banking role, rather than from SP Jain.
IIM K has provided a variety of finance roles, including middle and front-office investment banking, wealth management, corporate banking, and treasury roles, whereas investment banking and wealth management roles are almost nonexistent in SP Jain. They have a higher proportion of corporate finance positions available.
Going forward, with the expected growth and increasing alumni base, IIM K should be clearly a preferred choice over SP Jain for students aspiring to finance and consulting roles.
