Which is better: IIT Guwahati CSE or IIT BHU CSE?

Instead of recommending any specific institute, there are some myths that need to be debunked first:

Placements at one institute are better than the other.
BHU has a wider network.
IITG has a cooler administration.

You must compare the two courses based on the following features:

Academic research
Placement statistics
Competitive coding
Open-source development
Other club activities
Climate and geography
Connectivity (and distance from hometown)

If you're specifically interested in CSE, then the first four points are almost equal for both BHU and Guwahati. When it comes to the other points, IITG has a better climate, while Varanasi may be better connected and nearer to your hometown.

So, it's up to you to weigh the pros and cons and decide which institute suits you better. Remember to make an informed decision and choose wisely.

IIT Guwahati CSE stands above IIT BHU CSE. There are a plethora of reasons to support this unbiased claim. The placement scenario of the CSE department in both the colleges is more or less the same. As a graduate, you will be working for almost the same salary package, regardless of the college, you choose among the two. The academic research scenario and infrastructure of IIT Guwahati is however comparably better as compared to IIT BHU. Besides, the college also provides a conducive milieu for Open source development and other club activities.

The most underpinning difference between the two colleges is the location and climate. While IIT BHU is merged in BHU and witnesses a humongous movement of people from outside, IIT Guwahati is located in a profound geographical setup. IIT Guwahati (though located away from city lines) thus provides a more conducive environment for studies. It is imperative to note that although there might be a large gap between the highest packages offered, with IIT BHU overtaking IIT Guwahati, the average packages offered in the CSE department are more or less the same in both IITs.

Lastly, the overall campus infrastructure including the hostels and internet facilities at IIT Guwahati is much better as compared to IIT BHU. Last year’s NIRF rankings clear out
any ambiguity. While IIT Guwahati stood at an overall 7th rank and IIT BHU stood at 17th rank. So, beyond any doubt, IIT Guwahati CSE is better than IIT BHU CSE.
