How is CMC Ludhiana for an MBBS?

Sabeer Chalana Posted On : September 25th, 2023

CMC Ludhiana is one of the top private medical colleges of the country well known for its excellent education and opportunities in the medical field. Here are a few highlights of the institute

  • The learning experience is excellent in the first year and every teacher will motivate you for the better. They will cater to your doubts individually and conduct discussions along with regular weekly or monthly tests. By the third year, clinical subjects begin and professors become more busy. The written tests aren’t very regular in the last two years.
  • Students are exposed to clinics from the second year onwards. They witness a huge patient load and get to see outpatient and inpatient management of patients across various clinical departments.
  • Here, students have foster families, that help maintain better relationships with faculty and peers. They are extremely approachable and make your college life better.
  • The infrastructure needs to be worked upon. Some departments of the hospital are well equipped, but the classroom facilities aren’t at par with the best colleges.
  • The extracurricular culture is average and organizes an annual musical. Additionally, students get the opportunity to present their research at various conferences or go for an academic exchange through student organizations such as AMSA-India.
  • CMC Ludhiana provides a tremendous opportunity for undergraduates to take part in huge research projects.

Overall, CMC Ludhiana is an excellent medical college with some of the best facilities and opportunities offered to its students.

Is pursuing a dual MSc B.E. in BITS Pilani tough?

SD
Shruti Dasgupta Posted On : July 3rd, 2023
Student at Birla Institute of Technology and Science, Pilani

Yes, pursuing a dual MSc BE in BITS Pilani is a very tough and tedious journey. One of my friends ended up going for a dual degree and considers it a complete waste of time. Here is a synopsis of the entire journey.

  • First year: The first year is the deciding time for your BE degree so dualities have to work hard and score a high CGPA.
  • Second year: This year is relaxed as you will be taught only the courses from your first degree (MSc Degree).
  • Third year: It's from this year that your dual degree flaws will start becoming prominent. While the single-degree students will be busy with humanities electives, you will be busy with compulsory discipline electives in both your degrees. This is also the year that will make you realize which degree you want to pursue professionally. However, by this time you will have 2 degrees to pursue so you won’t be able to give the degree you like enough time.
  • Fourth year: This year again is very challenging especially if you do PS for two semesters. You will have to study eight courses without any breaks. Because of this your other degree will suffer and result in poor CG. Your PS chances will be affected in turn that depends on your grades.
  • Fifth year: The fifth-year welcomes the most dreaded thesis. While your counterparts will have to do two discipline electives and another two humanities, you will be doing a 15 credits course alongside sitting for placements. According to the new rules, it is compulsory for students to do a thesis in one degree and PS in the other. Usually, students prefer doing PS in the degree of their choice so a thesis in the degree of not your choice is very difficult.

Overall, I feel that a dual degree is a waste of time and you should reconsider your decision if you are planning to get one.

PG
Pratik Gandhi Posted On : March 18th, 2023
B.Tech. CSE, IIT Bombay

To get a seat at IIT Bombay in computer science, one must qualify in JEE Advanced and obtain a high rank. JEE Advanced is the entrance exam for admission to the IITs. The cutoff marks for JEE Advanced vary each year based on various factors such as the difficulty level of the exam, the number of applicants, and the number of available seats.

In general, a candidate must score well above the minimum cutoff marks to be considered for admission to IIT Bombay. In recent years, those who have secured a rank between 1 and 100 have had a good chance of getting admission to CS in IIT Bombay. However, this is not a fixed criterion and may vary based on the year and the specific circumstances.

What's better, project management at NITIE or VJTI?

VM
Ved Mehta Posted On : August 16th, 2021
MBA from National Institute of Industrial Engineering (2019)

Having to know some people from both these institutions, I can say that both of these colleges are specialized in two different fields. Let me share some facts about both these colleges I gathered by interacting with them.

  • VJTI is one of the prominent engineering colleges and NITIE is prominent among the top B-schools of India.
  • NITIE is recognized for its extensive alumni and professional professors who are experts in their fields.
  • Project Management at NITIE, in terms of studies, is the best among the B-schools in the country.
  • From Project Management at VJTI, 18% of the students are placed in prominent companies.
  • NITIE is known for its high management extension.
  • The placement and faculty of VJTI are not up to the mark when compared to NITIE.
Categories Project Management at NITIE Project Management at VJTI
Course Fee 12.53 lakh 1.65 lakh
Highest CTC 22 LPA -
Average CTC 14 LPA 5.5-6 LPA
Recruiting Companies Deloitte, Dabur, KPMG, Marico, etc. Bank of America, Barclays, Capgemini, Crisil, etc.

Hence, there is no comparison between VJTI and NITIE. But one of my friends has recommended NITIE as in many aspects it manages to be better than VJTI.

Which is better: Silicon Institute of Technology or KIIT? Why?

Sayantani Barman Posted On : July 26th, 2023

I will compare SIT and KIIT on certain parameters-

  • Fees- KIIT charges around 2.5 times more than SIT.
  • Curriculum- In terms of curriculum, KIIT has the upper hand. KIIT is a university while SIT is a part of BPUT. The curriculum and paper-checking patterns of BPUT are quite vague and not that good.
  • Infrastructure- KIIT has a far better infrastructure than SIT. SIT lags behind in terms of infrastructure. SIT provides really slow wifi on campus.
  • Academics, Research, and Faculty- The faculty at SIT is better than KIIT. KIIT offers decent research opportunities but its students do not take much interest in the same.

The teachers in SIT are partial. The study environment is lenient and students who do not even study also end up scoring an 8 CGPA. In KIIT, however, the academic situation is even worse.

  • Location- Although both institutions are not very far from each other, KIIT has a better location because SIT campus has mobile network issues.
  • Campus Placements-  KIIT offers good placements, and packages can cross 6.5 LPA. However, more mass recruiters offering 3-4 LPA jobs visit the SIT campus. KIIT also has a good number of mass recruiters visiting the campus though.
  • Fests and Events- KIIT holds fests and events for its students. On the other hand, SIT mostly has no events and even if something does take place, the students of SIT itself end up performing.

I would suggest you choose KIIT because if you work hard enough, you can end up in a company like SAP Labs with a good package. SIT offers only average placement opportunities for which the packages range from 3-4 LPA. You can choose SIT if you wish to go for higher studies.

How is NIT Delhi hostel life?

Sapna Malik updated Posted On : October 10th, 2023

My sister is a student of NIT Delhi and shared her hostel life experience at the institute. Her hostel was located in Rohini almost 22 km away from the college campus. The biggest issue is that the hostel is located in a remote area so it isn't safe for girls to step out late even after sunset. Here are some highlights of the NIT Delhi girls hostel

  • The hostel rooms are spacious, and clean and comprise a bed, a study table, a cupboard, a stool, and a chair. The hostel wardens are friendly and supportive.
  • The students from the year to the third year are allotted the YWCA girls hostel while the 4th-year students are allotted the college PG.
  • 1st-year girls are allotted 8 seater rooms, 2nd-year girls are allotted 4 and 6 seater rooms while 3rd-year girls are allotted 2 seater rooms.
  • Although having 6-8 girls share rooms creates a good bond between them, sometimes there are privacy issues due to overcrowding.
  • Festivals of all cultures are celebrated at the hostel like Diwali, Christmas, Holi, Raakhi, birthdays, or Lohri.

Overall, NIT Delhi girl's hostel life is amazing and gives you a lot of memories to cherish for life.

Why did you chose AIIMS Bhubaneswar over AFMC Pune?

HD
Hrishita Das, Posted On : June 1st, 2023
MBBS from AIIMS, Bhubaneshwar (2021)

My sister left AFMC for AIIMS Bhubaneswar not because the institute was better but because she had several personal reasons that led her to the decision. In fact, AFMC l has a better campus and better facilities than AIIMS Bhubaneswar, however, it also has a commitment to serve the armed forces. This may hinder your growth to an extent.

Our family was completely against her going to Pune for studies and most importantly working in the forces for a lifetime. She appeared for the interview and the beauty of the campus encompassed her, after which she enrolled herself. However, the 7 days window period which allows you to exit within 7 days taught here a lot. She realized that she won’t be able to cope up with the hectic life among students who were mostly from army backgrounds. The overall environment was very rigid with millions of rules and regulations. Our father decided to get her out do AFMC and enrolled her in AIIMS Bhubaneswar which was much rarer than our home.

Now, as a student of AIIMS Bhubaneswar, she is truly satisfied with her quality of college life though she sometimes looks back at the missed opportunity to serve the country. But seeing her family more satisfied with Bhubaneswar she knew she had taken the right decision.
