SB
Syak Banerjee Posted On : August 14th, 2020
CSE IIT BBSR (2019)

IIT Bhubaneswar witnessed 90% placement in 2019 at the end of the academic session. Around 89 companies visited the campus with the average salary offered was 11.45 LPA.

The placements of electrical and mechanical engineering from IIT Bhubaneswar were 86% and 83% respectively. The top recruiting companies that visited IIT Bhubaneswar in 2019 were Capgemini, DELL, Honeywell, L&T construction, TATA Steel, etc.

In general, Mechanical engineering (ME) is a more versatile course than other engineering courses. Mechanical Engineers are hired in corporate managerial positions. On the other hand, Electrical engineering (EE) can deflect their career towards software development and programming.

Both of these branches are excellent choices to opt from IIT Bhubaneswar where the placements record is quite good. So, pick the course you are interested in.

Which is better, electrical at IIT Bhubaneswar, IIT Dhanbad or NIT Trichy?

MS
Mohan Saini Posted On : August 13th, 2020
B. Tech from Indian Institute of Technology Dhanbad (2020)

NIT Trichy offers a great learning experience, especially in CS. EE at IIT Dhanbad and IIT Bhubaneshwar is also decent and the placements are quite good and with either of the IITs, you would get that IIT tag. So, it actually boils down to your choice between an IIT and NIT and if you want to give preference to IITs.

The average package for EE at NIT Trichy was around 6 LPA with a 97% placement rate for EE students. On the other hand, for IIT Dhanbad, the placement percentage was 76% with the average package of around 15.5 LPA. In IIT Bhubaneshwar, the average package for 2019 was around 11 LPA and the placement rate was around 86% from EE.

Although, the tag isn’t only something one should go after. NIT Trichy’s EE is excellent and the placements are equally great. Good infrastructure, excellent teachers, and a decent learning and developing environment are what one should seek, and thereby, NIT Trichy would be an excellent choice since IIT Dhanbad and IIT Bhubaneshwar are newer IITs. NIT Trichy, Warangal, Surathkal are better than most IITs.

So, it completely comes down to your personal preference.

AC

Whatever the exam must be of the IBPS category, one must ensure to attempt 75-80 questions with an accuracy of over 95% to guarantee a score above cut-off. The IBPS exam is a test of speed and accuracy under the pressure circumstances and hence, usually the cut-off stands between 60 and 75 marks.

The IBPS SO IT prelims cutoff for 2020 is listed in the table below:

Category

Cut-off marks

General (GEN)

81.50

Scheduled Caste (SC)

73.25

Scheduled Tribe (ST)

64.50

Other Backward Classes (OBC)

79.50

Visually Impared (VI)

57.38

Hearing Impaired (HI)

28.13

Intellectual Disability (ID)

45.38

Orthopaedically Challenged (OC)

71.25

The sectional cut-offs of the following include:

  • General Awareness - 11.50 (for GEN) and 7.50 (for SC/ST/OBC).
  • Reasoning - 13.50 (for GEN) and 8.75 (for SC/ST/OBC).
  • English - 9.50 (for GEN) and 6.75 (for SC/ST/OBC).

The total or maximum marks of General Awareness and Reasoning are 50 each while English is 25.

Cut-off marks are decided taking into consideration the level of difficulty of the exam, the total number of candidates appearing, number of vacancies and the previous year cut-offs. While preparing one must try to achieve scores greater than the previous year cut-off to be on the safe side.

Is Noida a safe city for girls to study if someone gets an admission to Amity University Noida?

RP
Reeta Pant Posted On : February 18th, 2022
B.Tech+MBA Civil Engineering & Marketing, Amity University, Noida

Amity campus is safe. There are security and students at every corner of the campus, so you will be safe inside the college premises.

As for Noida, the sector where Amity University is located has a lot of other engineering colleges. The crowd and the hustle-bustle settle down as the day ends. It’s best if you don’t travel alone during the night. If you can’t avoid travel, go with a group. It’s a good city to live in but try to be a little cautious too.

There are multiple options to choose from when it comes to choosing the right engineering college under CUSAT, the fact that it’s got an amazing campus is a bonus. It is a good place for anybody who wishes to cultivate learning and is passionate enough to go through the engineering training programs.

Some of the most well-known and popular colleges under CUSAT are:

  • Model Engineering college
  • School of Engineering
  • University of petroleum and energy studies
  • MG College of Engineering
  • Sarabhai Institute of Science and Technology
  • KVM College of Engineering & Technology

All these colleges that fall under CUSAT are known to bring out the true colors of every student. The campus life of CUSAT colleges is too much fun and a memory for a lifetime. This is true not just for the local students but also for the non-Keralite students.

Although, it must be noted by anyone who is considering an admission under CUSAT that all these colleges are well-known for different things. For instance, the Model Engineering College is known for its academic performance, and the School of Engineering is loved by all for its sports. The placements at the School of Engineering and Model engineering college are both equally sorted and appreciated.

All these colleges have a lot to offer apart from the courses and academics. Living at the campus, enjoying the little famous things around the town, food joints that’ll eventually become your favorite things to do while on campus- all this combined is an experience to cherish for a lifetime.

Has anyone ever been rejected by Amity University Noida?

VR
Vaishali Rastogi Posted On : January 29th, 2021
MSc Forensic Science, Amity University (2019)

Yes, one of my friends, who applied for one of the famous courses(BJMC) got rejected for Amity. But in the interview round she got a few answers wrong. Besides, she also had a gap of four years in her studies due to some medical issues.

The next day, she got informed through the website that she was not selected for her course in which she applied.

It is certainly not true that everyone gets admission in Amity very easily. A huge number of students apply to Amity University every year. So, it is evident that some of the applications will be rejected.

Some people I know secured marks that, without even an interview, would get them admission anywhere, because CBSE is obviously not frugal with respect to giving marks. On the other hand, the NIOS is not typically very generous. Moreover, if you have experienced a huge gap in your studies, then that will be an issue too.

What should I know if I am joining IIT Bhubaneswar (EE)?

SR
Sivani Rai Posted On : August 14th, 2020
B.Tech Electrical Engineering, Indian Institute of Technology, Bhubaneswar

There are few things that may help if you are planning on joining IIT Bhubaneshwar’s Electrical

Engineering batch. This requires a high interest of the student in Calculus because it involves a lot of use of Maths in itself when compared to Physics. It usually contains subjects such as Power Systems, Control Systems, and Thermodynamics, etc.

Since Electrical Engineering has been from the start of IIT Bhubaneswar, placements are really good there. If you wish to know about the curriculum of the same you may refer to the IIT Bhubaneswar website for the same to get a better idea. Also, if you have good knowledge about Statistics, Probability, Calculus, Electro-Magnetism, then it shall give you a great advantage as they may start from ahead but may provide you with a recap.

The placements during the early years were not that great but for the last 2 years, the situation is incrementing. The highest package went around 39 LPA offered by Adobe. The infrastructure is great with a high-speed Wi-Fi available in the academic block. Classrooms have centralized AC and the labs are well equipped with the latest technology equipment. The faculty is very knowledgeable, experienced, and uses practical methods to help the students in understanding topics.

Which is better, Electrical Engineering at IIT Bhubaneswar or Mechanical Engineering at IIT BHU?

IT
Ishika Tiwari Posted On : August 14th, 2020
B.Tech Electrical Engineering Indian Institute of Technology Varanasi (2020)

IIT Bhubaneswar and IIT BHU both are among the reputed institutes for engineering in India. IIT BHU is ranked 11th while IIT Bhubaneswar is ranked 17th by MHRD in 2019. Both the IITs provide students with good academic experience and decent placements.

Talking about IIT BHU then the department of Mechanical Engineering came into existence in 1919. Over the past 100 years, the department has grown four folds to become the largest department in IIT(BHU), Varanasi. It offers a 4-year bachelor of technology program to the students who are admitted through JEE Advanced. The curriculum is periodically updated and designed in such a way that provides students with problem-solving skills and innovation of new technologies. Here in IIT BHU infrastructural facilities are great for research for a wide range of specializations such as Machine Design, Thermal and Fluid Engineering, Production Engineering and Industrial Management. They also focus on innovation so they have CST UP Incubation Center for grass root innovators started in 2018 under Mechanical Engineering Department. The placement scenario in IIT BHU is quite good. Out of 120 students, 109 were placed in the Mechanical Department in 2019 with an average offer of 8 Lacs per annum.

Electrical engineering at IIT Bhubaneswar is also good. School of Electrical Sciences at IIT Bhubaneswar offers a good academic and research-oriented environment. It was established in 2008. There are already 200+ ongoing research projects and have a fund of more than INR 1 billion. The department is engaged in a wide spectrum of research in emerging and innovative technologies through nationally and internationally funded sponsored research. The average placement in Electrical was 8.5 lacs per annum and almost 86% are placed in 2019. Most of the students were able to get jobs in the core-sector.

Both the institutes are of equal importance and the branches are also pretty good and offer plenty of opportunities. But IIT BHU has the 100 years old Legacy and has one of the biggest and well-connected alumni bases in our country. So here IIT BHU has an edge over IIT Bhubaneswar. But at last, branch and interest matters more than college.
