How is IIM Visakhapatnam for an MBA in HR?

JK

Studied at Indian Institute of Management Visakhapatnam (2018)

Just like the new IITs, this is another one of those so-called IIMs that simply has the IIM name displayed on its building. The credibility of these institutes is severely lacking when compared to both their own students (though I certainly hope not the faculty) and the outside world. And justifiably so. Building up one's credibility and esteem requires time and effort over the course of many years. The ancient IITs didn't become household names overnight; rather, it took its students and staff a couple of decades to make their mark on the world stage, which is why they are known today.

When I go to these types of institutes, I hear students bragging about how fantastic their own school is by mentioning some impressive placement packages that a select few students may have received or by claiming victory in some challenging competitions. I say that you should let the rest of the world judge your excellence. Why do you have to pound your own drum?

Go to XLRI or TISS if you are serious about getting an MBA in human resources. They are unrivaled in this particular industry.

I scored 84% in 10th and 78% in 12 from commerce and currently starting a BBA course. I want to know that from my 10th, and 12th marks, will I be selected for an MBA in HR from XLRI Jamshedpur?

84% in 10th and 78% in 12th is a decent score and you can get admission to the XLRI HR program. Although there are no strict guidelines mentioned by XLRI regarding the weightage for 10th, 12th, XAT, and interview. But with the above-mentioned 10th and 12th scores, a good XAT score, and a well-delivered interview, you can get admission into the XLRI Jamshedpur HR course.

Can I get admission in MBA HR? I am pursuing a BBA and want to know how much percentage is required to get admission in the college?

A
Admin Posted On : May 21st, 2024

Yes, you will be able to get admission in MBA HR if you are pursuing BBA. You will need to secure 50% marks during your graduation to be eligible for admission. You will be considered for admission in MBA on the basis of your score in CAT or MAT and your performance in GD-PI conducted by Christ. Your specialization of MBA is usually decided in the second year as in the first year you will have to study all the subjects. In the second year, core subjects are taught. Also, your major in graduation does not matter as everyone is eligible for admission considering you have secured the minimum percentage required. I would also suggest you to practice for GD-PI as your performance during these two sessions will matter and your overall score card will be decided on this basis. The competition is quite steep so make sure to give your best.
