How is the MBA from Ambedkar University of Delhi?

SB
Sylvia Basu Posted On : January 13th, 2022
studied at Ambedkar University Delhi (2019)

Ambedkar University Delhi (AUD) has many things that stand out when compared to other B-schools in India.

  • It is a government university, therefore it has a tough competitive atmosphere.
  • It provides a brand name, being a government institution.
  • The academic fee is very less. You can complete your MBA degree at a highly subsidized fee.
  • All the faculties are PhD holders from reputed institutes like FMS, IIMs, etc. They give a great platform to learn.
  • Their overall student intake is very less. The number of students taken per batch is 42. This helps in better student-teacher interaction. You also get more opportunities to get placed.
  • The syllabus of MBA at AUD is highly updated following the industrial trends. This keeps students at par with students of other recognized universities.

Lastly, being located in Delhi it already has an advantage. You will get a good and competitive crowd which will eventually help in your overall development as an individual.

What is your take on IIM Indore's Mumbai campus?

NK
Nitesh Kumar Posted On : January 4th, 2023
Lives in Indore, Madhya Pradesh, India

My brother is an alumnus of IIM Indore and he brought to light the harsh truth of the Mumbai Campus. Being a satellite campus of IIM Indore, the facilities, teaching, and placements are very substandard.

  • Not even 5% of the faculty visits the Mumbai campus for classes. As a result, classes are taught by low-qualified teachers.
  • The placement scenario is also terrible at the Mumbai campus. The summer placements are conducted separately. Whereas the final placements are joint. But unfortunately, the best profiles and packages are saved for the IIM Indore students.

The ROI is terrible. You invest a lot of fees and get low packages or sometimes even no jobs. So I would recommend going for any other B School if you are confident of another attempt at CAT.

IGNOU: Has anyone over here done a MAPC master's in psychology or a Ph.D. in psychology via distance learning?

RY
Raj Yadav Posted On : October 18th, 2022
Studied Psychology at IGNOU

It is a well-planned course that includes a required internship, research project, and term-end examinations (TEE). According to some practicing psychologists, the study material appears to be on par with regular university courses.

The main difference is that you can complete the course over a 5-year period, with exams held twice a year. As a result, you can write exams for 2-3 subjects each term and finish the course while working full-time.

IGNOU has two points of contact for you:

  • SC Study Centre: This is where lectures and practicals will be held, assignments must be submitted, and course-related questions will be answered. There are two in Mumbai: Hansraj College in Khar and Seva Sadan in Ulhasnagar.

  • Regional Centre RC: This is your administrative point for receiving books, issuing ID cards, making changes to exam centers, and so on. This is the IGNOU's general office in Mulund West, Mumbai, for all courses.

IGNOU PROBLEMS

The RC is sometimes unresponsive, and with a low student-to-administrative representative ratio (IGNOU has no upper limit on the number of students it can admit), it is difficult to get questions answered. To receive a response, students must send emails in bulk.

IGNOU (or RC) appoints teachers to give IGNOU lectures in addition to their regular teaching duties.

IGNOU urgently needs to address these concerns in order to maintain and improve students' trust in the system.

Honestly, how is IIM Indore - Mumbai Campus?

AD
Abhishek Dabas Posted On : January 2nd, 2023
National Entrepreneurship Challenge Team Member at National Institute of Technology, Srinagar (J&K)

My brother has been at IIM Indore, Mumbai campus for the past 2 months. He has cleared the air of misconception and told me that the IIM Indore campus is on a level with any other IIM. Some pros and cons that will further elaborate on this point are

Pros

Faculty: The faculty comprises teachers who are geniuses in their own fields. Recalling several events he told me once his teacher during Organisational Behavior class, steered the conversation towards spiritualism. In another instance, the professor gave feedback on their case study solutions for maximum retention. The professors are humble and compassionate. They are ready to help you in anything from clearing doubts to suggesting books for study.

Peer Harmony: The harmony between the seniors and juniors here is another bright aspect. Any new undertaking by the juniors is encouraged by the seniors. The seniors along with juniors conduct skill-based workshops and organize guest lectures.

Placement Committee: The placement committee at IIM Indore, Mumbai campus is considerate and helps build long-term relationships with corporates. The placement coordinator is personally involved with the batch and he is an approachable person.

Location: One obvious advantage that IIM Indore has is its location. Located in the City of Dreams, the institute offers the students to step out of their comfort zone and try unimaginable things. The city offers a vast number of opportunities and baggage of experience. Also being the finance capital, the campus enjoys visits from various industry experts who impart significant corporate knowledge.

Brand Image: The IIM tag you will get to wear for the rest of your life will be beneficial everywhere and everytime. The IIM does not just prepares you for a job but it also prepares you for life in general.

Cons

Infrastructure: The fact that institute still lacks a campus can discourage many. Yet its not that big a merit you can leave your IIM tag for.

Accommodation: The institute offers no hostel facilities and one has to look for accommodation on their own. The seniors help a lot and this entire process might help you know the reality of life and prepare you for your future endeavors.

How good of an institution is NSIT, Delhi?

TA
Tithi Aggrawal Posted On : August 21st, 2023
Lives in New Delhi

One of my friends at NSUT Delhi shared a few unknown facts about the institute. He claims that the majority of the crowd is focused on getting placed and securing good marks rather than developing a genuine interest and passion in the curse. This makes the academic environment dull and unchallenging. Here are some other major drawbacks he faced during his time at NSUT Delhi

  • The institute has a disinterested faculty pool that ruins the lives of many by illogical grading systems. They have no interest in teaching and students have to motivate themselves to study.
  • NSUT Delhi does not only have an outdated curriculum but also has a number of irrelevant courses. This makes the students lose interest in the branch.
  • It may have the DU tag but rarely do recruiters know about this. Its brand value is not at par with other DU-affiliated colleges.
  • The placement scenario is pathetic and the institute releases not have much official data on the same. The exceptional cases of students getting placed in big companies like Google have nothing to do with the institute but the student's hard work.
  • Being a government college the administrative department is pathetic and laid back.
  • The Institute does not enjoy much reputation outside Delhi and is even unknown to many.
  • The campus is small around 140-150 acres and the infrastructure is in a pathetic state.
  • The institute has a policy of 85% reservation for Delhites which limits the crowd diversity and your college experience as a whole.
  • The college has a non-existent alumni network.

So, unless you have no other options it is better to not consider joining NSUT Delhi. You might end up ruining your career.

What is PG life like at JIPMER?

MS
Manjil Sharma Posted On : September 21st, 2023
Studied MBBS from Jawaharlal Institute of Postgraduate Medical Education and Research, Pondicherry (2020)

The PG life at JIPMER is extremely tiring and the clinical branches are hectic You will hardly get 4-5 hours of sleep a day but things will get better after 6 months. The academic environment is without doubt one of the best in the country with a healthy good senior-junior rapport. Students take their thesis work quite seriously.

The PGs hail from different corners of the country so you get to meet a highly diverse crowd with different levels of intellect and talents. many different types of people. Hard work is the common unifying factor among them.

Infrastructure in Jipmer has been constantly improved over the past few years and the hostel facilities are amazing. Decent food is served in the mess and students have 24/7 access to the internet. Some of the best PG departments of JIPMER are Medicine, OBG, Pediatrics, Anaesthesia, Dermat, Opthal, ENT, etc

Overall, PG life at JIPMER is quite challenging but the experience and the JIPMER tag are definitely worth it.

What is the scope of doing an MBA from IGNOU? Is it acceptable by MNCs?

AA
Aman Arora Posted On : October 21st, 2022
MS from Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) (Graduated-2016)

IGNOU is recognised by AICTE and is run by the central government. So if you are looking for a government job then it’s not an issue. Also, IGNOU is better than many small universities like SMU (Sikkim Manipal University).

IGNOU is the best option if you are tight on budget or you prefer learning while earning.

MNCs prefer a formal education of 15 years. For additional education, you can go for IGNOU. But if your Bachelor's Degree is also from IGNOU then this might be a problem at the time of employment.

It’s important to note that at the time of employment regular colleges are always given more preference than distance education. So it’s recommended you pursue MBA from a regular college. Let IGNOU be the last choice under special circumstances such as a tight budget or preferring distance learning due to personal reasons.

How do I prepare for the IIIT Hyderabad PGEE exam for the computer science branch?

AJ
Adinath Jain Posted On : July 28th, 2023
Studied at IIIT Hyderabad

My sister gave IIIT Hyderabad PGEE Exam in 208 and claims it to be easier than GATE. The number of questions varies every year but the pattern somewhat remains similar. The exam had two papers.

Paper 1 - Aptitude (Time: 90 minutes)

  • This one comprised 40 questions out of which 20-25 were quantitative questions, 5-10 questions were based on programming and mathematics, and 10 questions were based on comprehension
  • Some of the most common topics covered were Calendar, Clocks, Directions, Blood Relation, Time and Distance, Probability Syllogism, Number and Series, Data sufficiency, and Propositional logic.
  • As a whole the level of difficulty was easy to medium.

Paper 2 - Technical (Time: 90 minutes)

  • This paper comprised 60 questions out of which 20-25 questions were from previous years Gate/Isro paper. The remaining questions were related to simple subject knowledge.
  • The level of programming questions and data structure questions was higher than in the Gate exam.
  • Each question had more than one answer and not ticking all the right ones would lose you marks.
  • Again, the level of difficulty was easy and anyone who had cleared GATE could clear this too.

It's best to adopt the same strategy you used for GATE preparation and you will surely get good results.
