My brother had the pleasure of staying at hostels 9, 16, and now 13 in chronological order. However, he claimed not one hostel had the complete facilities one expects in a hostel. I have described each hostel in a few pointers
Hostel 9
Hostel 16
Hostel 13
Since you have specifically mentioned the aspects on which you want info, I will go straight to the point.
Learning experience: The pedagogy and curriculum are industry relevant and are updated on a yearly basis. The students are taught about Marketing from Day one covering all the arenas. It’s the relevancy and well-structured nature of the curriculum combined with excellent pedagogy that gives the students of MICA an edge over other students of B schools like IIMs during internships
The course is specially designed for Marketing enthusiasts. The students win many corporate and B-school competitions like Mahindra War Room, HUL Lime, etc. owing to the institute's specialization in Marketing. These competitions fill the gap between the theoretical and practical knowledge we gained in class.
Campus life: The MICA campus is one of the liveliest campuses across India. A student-driven committee organized fun events and kept the spirit alive on campus. We have football, cricket, Game of Thrones, and other movie screenings. Birthdays at MICA are celebrated with much fun. You will get a baggage of memories just in 2 months that will stay with you throughout your life.
ROI: MICA fees are not less given how coveted the course is. This year the fee was ?21 Lakh. The course is priced competitively but it is still not as high as the fees charged by private B Schools like NMIMS or IIMs. After interacting with a few alumni I got to know that most of them managed to repay their loans within 3-4 years. So overall the ROI is pretty good.
The Mess menu is decided by the mess committee. The mess committee also consists of the student unions. You can make recommendations in the menu as per your choice and the convenience of the staff members. The menu of IIITM Gwalior is as follows.
You will get a variety of breakfast and lunch menus on an everyday basis in the mess of IIITM Gwalior.
It’s sad to say but MTech students do not attract very good companies for placements. The companies prefer students with experience. BTech students prepare well in advance either for MBA or coding to get placements in IT or banking companies. MTech students are not allowed to do so and thus are unable to secure good packages.
Now the question arises, what should MTech students do to guarantee a safe career? Well, I will suggest that they prepare for GATE again and clear PSU or some other Engineering service.
You can even enter Academia but the salary packages will also be average. Another option is to go for a Ph.D. but this too has no career prospects. The most guaranteed way is to clear PSU.
If you had specified the parameters on which you are judging the institute, it would have been easier to answer the question. In terms of quality of education, the two IIITs are better than the three NITs.
Given below is a brief comparison of the institutes based on various parameters. You can make your decision based on that.
Faculty:(IIIT Delhi > Top NITs ~ IIIT Allahabad)
IIIT Delhi has the best faculty. Even top NITs don’t come close to IIIT Delhi in terms of faculty.
Campus Life: (Top 3 NITs > IIIT Allahabad > IIIT Delhi)
The top 3 NITs offer better campus life. As compared to NITs the workload of IIIT Delhi is too much. IIIT Delhi also does not have as many clubs and societies as top NITs. NIT campuses are also bigger in comparison.
Hostels: (Winning Institute - IIIT Delhi)
Placements: (IIIT Delhi ~ Top NITs ~ IIIT Allahabad)
In terms of placements, IIIT Delhi matches the placement statistics of top NITs. A student of IIIT Delhi has recently secured a placement package of 1.45 Crore. The average package of the institute mentioned in the question is around 15-17 lakhs (for CSE).
Location: (IIIT Delhi > Top 3 NITs ~ IIIT Allahabad)
But whether you will like the campus or not depends on your background. If you are from South India, life in Delhi or Prayagraj may not be that appealing and vice versa.
Reputation & Alumni Base: (Top 3 NITs > IIIT Delhi > IIIT Allahabad)
If you are genuinely interested in coding, you should choose IIIT Delhi or IIIT Allahabad. Otherwise don’t go for IIITs.
Almost 30-40% of the students got placed. The highest salary package offered is 10 LPA, and the lowest salary package offered is 2 LPA. Top recruiting companies of our college are TCS, etc. Almost 50-60% of the students got an internship in firms, Sai & Associations, etc.
Here are a few changes my sister felt since she graduated from BITS Pilani
Lastly, she no more questions the credibility of BITS Pilani and its alumni.
No, IIT Kanpur does not have a cruel policy of allotting roommates and rooms on the basis of JEE ranks. You cannot assign someone a room on the basis of his achievements. This is pure discrimination and this practice should be discontinued.
The only 2 institutes that follow this extreme policy are IIT and IIT BHU. The purpose of this is to ensure better living standards and ultimately better outputs from the treasures of the Institute.
In IIT Kanpur rooms and roommates are allotted randomly and you can expect almost anyone as your roommate. Your roommates play a major role in influencing your grades, examinations, and social life.
It’s good to make new friends and socialize, but remember life at IIT Kanpur is very rigorous and not a single moment should be wasted on useless activities.
AIIMS Delhi is one of the most prestigious medical schools in India and is highly coveted among medical students. It boasts an extremely rigorous curriculum and high brand value. However, only a small batch of applicants is able to pass the MBBS exam. This is because the program is highly competitive and even the most genius minds sometimes fail to clear the exam.
Intelligence alone cannot determine your success in medical school. As a medical student, you will need hard work, dedication, and also critical for success. The professor itself is very challenging and requires a great deal of dedication, commitment, and a strong desire to help others.
It’s true that management consulting firms are finicky about the campuses they recruit from and even in top management schools these firms only interview the top 5-10% of the students. Though companies like McKinsey, BCG, etc. recruit from premier undergraduate colleges, for MBA they only hire from top-rated B-schools.
