How does MTech mechatronics at IIT Patna compare to the same at NIT Surathkal?

RT
Raktim Tarafdar Posted On : July 15th, 2023

The Mechatronics branch in itself is not very developed in India irrespective of whichever institute offers it. IIT Patna is a new IIT and lacks the necessary resources and infrastructure while NIT Surathkal has a very challenging curriculum for MTech Mechatronics. The breakdown is 60% Mechanical and 40% Electronics. Students from other domains find it difficult to cope with the rigorous curriculum.

Although the faculty pool comprises good professors, the placement scenario is just average. So try looking for other options or go for IIT Patna instead.

KP
Karthik Prasad Posted On : August 18th, 2021
Studied PGDIM from National Institute of Industrial Engineering (2019)

NITIE is a very reputed and popular college of our country and it is among the top 20 colleges for MBA. Doing an MBA from this college will give you a better perspective of business. Here you will also get the chance to explore more options apart from civil engineering.

  • At NITIE, only engineers are applicable for admission in this course, so the competition will be very high.
  • This is a general management course, so you may or may not get a course in core companies.
  • But if you want to stay connected to civil engineering, then you can choose NICMAR as its course structure is related to civil engineering.
  • The placement records of this college are very good as the companies visiting the campus for placements are of the same level as IIT Delhi and IIT Madras.
  • They also offer similar salary packages.

Placement Statistics

Categories NITIE Mumbai NICMAR Pune
Course Fee 14.63 lakh 1.75 - 10.56 lakh
Highest CTC 28 LPA 20 LPA

How was your IIM Bangalore interview experience for the batch 2021-23 (overseas candidate)?

AB
Anurag Bakshi Posted On : July 27th, 2021
Studied at IIM Ahmedabad (2019)

My brother is currently studying MBA at IIM Bangalore and he is also an overseas candidate. He cleared the interview this year itself, this answer is based on his fresh memories of his interview.

Here are some profile details of my brother that you might relate.

CBSE Board (10th and 12th) 90%
Graduation 65%
GMAT Score 730
Work Experience 18 months at Standard Chartered, London

The interview started around 5:30 PM and the interview panel consisted of 3 professors. After the exchange of pleasantries and ID verification the important questions are summarized below:

  • Asked the reason behind pursuing his graduation from London. They also wanted to clarify if there were other reasons to go to the UK.
  • Reasons behind the Ease of Doing business or if there are concrete implications of these rankings in terms of foreign investments.
  • If a higher ranking implies more investment or how do rankings affect the investor’s perspective.
  • Questions related to the major criterion that a foreign investor will consider before investing in India
  • Various investors turning towards China and its government policies.
  • The interviewers also emphasized that China is very corrupt as well but it doesn’t affect the business as much as it does in India. So, should India also use corruption to nurture business?

After these long questions, his interview was followed by questions on his job experience too. For example:

  • Is Standard Chartered an investment bank or a commercial bank?
  • Difference between investment banks and commercial banks?
  • What is a hostile takeover?
  • Are hostile takeovers common in India?
  • Why do you think Hostile takeovers are not common in India?

Now, as my brother is an overseas candidate, they also asked questions about his motive of coming back to India, the reason for not pursuing MBA abroad, cross-border M&A Deals, brief about SPACs and their presence in India, and so on.

What is the hostel facility in NMIMS Bangalore?

AM
Anita Malhotra Posted On : May 17th, 2021
Student at NMIMS Bangalore

The hostel facility at NMIMS Bangalore is not great. I have a friend at NMIMS who has many complaints about the facilities provided at the hostel.

Here is some information based on his experience at the institute.

  • Hostel Fee: If you are going to the UG hostel the fees will be 180000 and food, room, transportation, laundry, and other house services are included.
  • Food: The food offered in the hostel is moderate, nothing special, and the menu is repeated weekly. At times, food is the same during lunch and dinner.
  • Rooms: The rooms are too packed and there is very little free space to move around. It barely fits two single beds with very little space to walk between them and has no ventilation. Fresh air or sunlight barely enters the rooms and the neighbors can see you through the window. Some of the rooms don’t even have curtains for privacy.
  • Curfew: The hostel comes with a lot of restrictions and the curfew timing is 9 pm. In case of emergency or extreme situations, the hostel won’t let you out whatsoever. Even with the permission of the parents, they make you go through a lot of trouble just so you can leave after 9 pm or you enter after 9 pm. The hostel is in the outer skirts and also you have fewer transportation modes available at night. It is situated far from the main city and market thus making it difficult to reach if anything is needed urgently.

At the same price, you can get a better pg or private hostel.

What is the normal mess menu at IIT Kharagpur hostels?

AC
Anumita Chatterjee Posted On : March 22nd, 2023
Studied at Indian Institute of Technology, Kanpur (IITK)

IIT Kharagpur has around 15 hostels and guest houses for both girls and boys. The Hall Management Center has allotted each hostel its own private tender to serve food and thus every hostel has different quality and range of food served.

The first-year students are allotted the Lal Bahadur Shastri Hall the menu of which is excellent.

  • Breakfast: 7-9 am: Breakfast includes Dosa, Puri, Poha, Paratha, and Idli during weekdays. The other option that is always available is Bread and Jam/Butter. For extras, you can get a Banana, boiled egg, and tea or milk.
  • Lunch 12 pm to 1: 30 pm: The students are given a food chart to choose from during weekdays except Sundays when Biryani is served. In the initial period of stay, each student is given the choice of veg and non-veg. On average, 2 days of all-veg is served while the remaining days have options.
  • 4pm-6 pm: Panipuri, Dahivada, Momos, and Samosa are the snacks available during weekdays.
  • Dinner 7-8:45 pm: Dinner is served on the basis of your choice of veg or non-veg with options of chicken/paneer served twice a week. Tadka dal and sambar are always available.

Apart from the routine mess food, there is also a Nescafe just outside the hall. Each hostel has a night canteen which runs till 3 am to satisfy midnight cravings.

Special dinner takes place twice a semester before the mid sem examination and end sem examination.

How do I get good marks in JNTUH B.Tech?

JP
Jiten Pradhan Posted On : August 3rd, 2023
Studied at Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University, Hyderabad (2020)

It’s unfortunate to say this but getting good marks in JNTU Hyderabad for any course is just a dream. The correction staff won’t give you good marks even if you write exactly what’s written in your course book. The system is broken and the quality of corrections and exams is deteriorating.

Even the most studious ones who attempt the exam well sometimes get poor scores. This is because the institute is a money-making machine that deliberately fails the students to earn more and more exam fees. Almost every student has to apply for revaluation which alone costs 1000 ru.

The marking scheme here is manipulated, costing the lives and dreams of thousands of ambitious students. I will suggest you never get admission here and neither recommend it to anyone. Instead, go for OU or KU.

Which college should I choose between IIIT Kota (CSE) and LNMIIT (CSE)?

SS
Samukta Shokeen Posted On : March 26th, 2021
Delhi University

My brother is from LNMIIT so I can tell you why LNMIIT is a better choice.

Ranking and Accreditation:

LNMIIT holds 2nd rank among the best IT colleges in Jaipur and 3rd best private college in Rajasthan. LNMIIT is approved by AICTE and has also been accredited by NAAC with a grade 'A'.

  • Admission: It is a “Non-Profit” Institute and admissions here are based on JEE (Mains). There is no reservation policy. Every student is treated equally based on their performance.
  • Facilities: Facilities like infrastructure, hostel, mess are much better than IIT Kota.
  • Placements: The Highest package offered in IIIT Kota is of about 27 lakhs/year whereas in LNMIIT it is 36 lakhs and the average salary package offered is around 10.48 lakhs and still increasing.
  • Clubs and Extra-curricular: There are various clubs and extracurricular activities present on campus. All the clubs are actively involved in various kinds of sports, technical and cultural activities.
  • Fest: Every year LNMIIT organizes one of the biggest annual Techno-cultural fests, i.e. “Vivacity”.
  • Coding Culture: The coding culture of LNMIIT is really amazing, even better than IIIT Kota. Every month, different types of coding events on CodeChef, Hacker earth are organized by the coding club of LNMIIT.

Alumni Network:

IIIT Kota is a recent IIIT and yet to establish a strong alumni database. Whereas, LNMIIT has a very strong Alumni base, including some notable personalities like Hemant Purohit (Assistant Professor at Information Sciences and Technology at George Mason University, Washington DC), Sanjay Goyal (Senior Engineer at InterDigital Labs, Tandon School of Engineering at Brooklyn, USA), Radhika Loomba (Research Scientist at Intel Labs Europe) and so on.

The video comprises an honest review of LMNIT

These are some of the perks of attending LNMIIT. Now, you can compare the institute with IIIT Kota and decide.

Is it good to do a junior residency (non-academic) in AIIMS Delhi?

PA
Puneet Aarya Posted On : May 31st, 2023
MBBS from All India Institute of Medical Sciences

Junior residency at AIIMS Delhi would provide you with a great opportunity to learn and grow as a medical professional. Junior residency (Non-academic) at AIIMS is a great option because

  • It is one of the highest paid jobs for a fresher
  • You are doing it from one of the most reputed government institutes of the country
  • You will have to spend only fixed hours of work which is around 48 hrs/ week.

Here, you will get an idea of the academic environment and proficiency of the residents. You will also get hands-on experience in performing surgeries that you read in textbooks like osteomyocutaneous flap and replantations. Joining AIIMS as a JR(NA) would be beneficial if you are looking for any of the following things

  • If you are planning to do PG adorn here but first want to get an insight into the specialty of interest
  • If you want to earn money before your Post Graduation.
  • If you are studying alongside working. Many students shared that working made it easier to clear the AIIMS PG exam as most of the questions asked were related to the work they did.
  • If you are saving money for commerce or academic purposes
  • If you are planning to open your own hospital and want to get an idea of the way services are provided.

However, ultimately the decision of whether or not it is good for you would depend on your own specific goals and circumstances.
