How does MTech mechatronics at IIT Patna compare to the same at NIT Surathkal?

RT
Raktim Tarafdar Posted On : July 15th, 2023

The Mechatronics branch in itself is not very developed in India irrespective of whichever institute offers it. IIT Patna is a new IIT and lacks the necessary resources and infrastructure while NIT Surathkal has a very challenging curriculum for MTech Mechatronics. The breakdown is 60% Mechanical and 40% Electronics. Students from other domains find it difficult to cope with the rigorous curriculum.

Although the faculty pool comprises good professors, the placement scenario is just average. So try looking for other options or go for IIT Patna instead.

How is the placement for mechatronic engineers in the Acharya Institute of Technology?

UG
Udita Ghosh Posted On : September 25th, 2020
Studied at Acharya Institute of Technology (2017)

Usually, finding a job in a core company right from the campus itself takes a lot of effort, time, and skill. Along with these, there should be some help from the college itself, like MOUs with specific industries and skill development programs for the industry readiness of the student.

If all these things go in your favor then landing in a core company isn’t too difficult as it seems. But in reality, there are not many colleges that provide such opportunities. And for a branch like mechatronics, it’s quite difficult to find a college good in placements in that branch.

Speaking of Acharya Institute of Technology (AIT) here, it’s no different. Campus placements do happen but not specific to the Mechatronics branch. The companies which usually visit campus are mass recruiters, IT service-based companies, and Marketing and sales companies. A student who has pursed Mechatronics with a lot of aspiration to work in Core Company wouldn’t like to get into an IT of marketing-related jobs.

Keeping these things in mind, it’s good to tell that, there are no Mechatronics related placements at AIT. But if one is determined enough, he/she can always look for an internship in Core Company and later convert it into a full-time opportunity. The standard of education at AIT will make sure that you have specific skills that will land you in a job sooner or later

  • The average course fee for both the courses remains around 3.9 Lakh in total. There are around 120 seats for the Mechanical branch and around 180 seats for Electrical students are available.

  • Around 45% of seats are filled with KCET qualified students 30% of seats are filled with COMEDK qualifiers and the rest is reserved for management quota.

Placement:

  • More than 80% of Mechanical students and 85% of Electrical students get placed every year in various companies.

  • Some of the major recruiters who offer placement to the mechanical students are Reliance Industries ltd, Rolls Royce, Honda, ITC, and more.

Other Factors:

Apart from these factors, the infrastructure that is offered by the institute is really well. There is a library which contains a plethora of books and e-sources for the students. Boys and Girls hostel is available. Classrooms are spacious and well-equipped with modern facilities.
