Where can I find free-solved assignments for IGNOU?

KT
Karan Takkar Posted On : October 17th, 2022
M.A ECO from Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU)

You can simply Google "free solved assignments" to find them. However, there is a catch. If you are enrolled in the January session, you may be able to find most assignments for free online. The assignments for the July session and the January session of the following year are the same at IGNOU. So your chances of finding them for free are good. However, if you are enrolled in the July session, you may not be able to find solved assignments online/offline for free.

However, you will find 99% of the assignment solutions in your IGNOU study material and exactly how you should do it. It will give you a good understanding of the subject. Ignore questions from previous years' papers and current assignments in TEE. You should complete your assignments on your own because it will undoubtedly help you in your TEE.

How do I write IGNOU assignments?

TB
Tushar Babbar Posted On : October 17th, 2022
MA in Public Administration, Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU)

Below are the tips that you can follow while writing assignments:

  • Copying ready-made assignments aren't worth it because the answers aren't always correct. So, if you want to copy, think about it first.

  • To write assignments, you can use either rule sheets or A4 size sheets. Because assignments must be written by hand.

  • Before beginning to write assignments, go over the questions and try to find answers in textbooks. You're likely to get the majority of your answers from them.

  • Use online resources because some topics are better explained in online resources than in textbooks.

  • Leave some space before writing the next question if you're writing in continuation. Alternatively, you can begin a new answer on a new page. It will leave no room for uncertainty or ignorance.

  • If the question asks for an explanation, include the conclusion in your response under the heading "Conclusion."

  • Highlight key lines or points in your responses.

  • If you're a working professional taking an IGNOU course, set a goal of writing one answer per day. This allows you to write assignments quickly and without feeling rushed. It is preferable if you can write a couple of answers per day. It will assist you in avoiding a last-minute run.

  • On the cover page, include page numbers and the total number of pages for an assignment. If the officials misplace a couple of pages, it is their responsibility, and you will benefit from it.

  • Complete assignments correctly. The sheets must be properly stapled. Also, submit it in a report file rather than a stick file to avoid misplacement by officials.

Writing assignments on your own helps you prepare for exams. Because it forces you to study the topics in a subject and provides you with an understanding of the topics. So, rather than asking someone else to write it for you, try writing it yourself.

What are some experiences people have had with the IGNOU exams? Are they difficult and what level of preparation is needed or can one be a bit easygoing?

SK
Sanchit Kapadia Posted On : October 13th, 2022
MCA from Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU)

The truth about IGNOU is that it does not care about you, and its success rate is much lower than that of other universities. IGNOU will be much more difficult than any other university; even your regular course may be much easier than what you will experience at IGNOU. It's not so much the degree that you'll get from IGNOU as it is the experience of how harsh and demanding life will be, how things will go wrong and you'll have to make them right. The terms provided by IGNOU may appear simple, but soon everything will begin to unfold; there will be success and setbacks. You will have to rework things over and over again, or you will fail. Exams are easy but they become tougher as you progress. You might get (low) grades as you've never gotten before, just because IGNOU is a miser in terms of giving marks.

Even though IGNOU exams are not difficult, here are some factors that contribute to their difficulty: The study material is never delivered on time; if it is, you will not receive your entire syllabus for the current semester; frequently, the study material arrives in the following semester. The exam schedule is appalling. There will be times when you have two exams on the same day, times when you have exams on consecutive days, and times when you only have one exam at the end of the month. Exam papers are not difficult (if you know the subject), but the point is that there is no specific standard that IGNOU has set for its marking scheme. As a result, even if you have answered questions correctly and to the best of your ability, you may still lose.

Are IGNOU materials relevant for the UPSC?

RP
Ragini Prajapati Posted On : October 13th, 2022
M.A IN PHILOSOPHY from Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU)

IGNOU Public Administration material is very simple and lucid, covering the majority of the UPSC Public Administration syllabus. Before moving on to books by Mohit Bhattacharya and Administrative Thinkers like Prasad & Prasad, IGNOU material is a good starting point. The same is true for the other subjects. So, if you are reading the subject for the first time, you can go through them to get a basic understanding of it.

It is recommended to read blogs on the subject, consult standard textbooks used for the specific course at university, and, most importantly, form a study group. For serious discussion on topics, this group should stay connected on a messaging platform like Whatsapp and the social media of your choice. If you do this religiously, your IGNOU and UPSC journeys will be smooth and enjoyable!

Disciplined UPSC candidates refer to the study material of this Open University's PG program honestly.

What should I read to crack DU JAT BMS?

SS
Sarita Singh Posted On : October 7th, 2022
Studied at Shaheed Sukhdev College of Business Studies

The sources and preparation strategies that should be followed for cracking DU JAT BMS are mentioned below:

  • Quantitative Ability:

  1. NCERT XI-XII: This is the most important source you must thoroughly review in order to have a good chance of receiving SSCBS. Modern math accounts for 70% of the total questions asked in this section, which covers topics from classes XI-XII. Complex numbers, probability, P&C, matrices, differentiation, and arithmetic progressions are the most important topics.

  2. Objective Math textbook: Basic mathematics accounts for 30% of the quant section and includes topics such as time, speed, distance, averages, percentages, ratios, and proportions.

  3. Brush up on your Calculation: Being fast is the simplest way to get ahead of the competition. Make sure you understand squares up to 30, cubes up to 20, and can quickly add and multiply two and three-digit numbers. This would give you a competitive advantage.

  • General/ Business Awareness:

  1. Newspaper: Make it a habit to read the newspaper for at least an hour every day. Reading the whole thing is not necessary. Sports, economics, world news, and editorials are the most important sections.

  2. App Jagran Josh: It is the best online resource for improving your general knowledge and growing as a person in general. It publishes weekly current events and quizzes based on them, which aids in thorough preparation. You can also read monthly current affairs to get a detailed overview of the month. Make sure you read up on current events at least 7 months before the exam date.

  3. Google searches: The best thing to get ahead of others was to conduct specific Google searches. Make separate lists and thoroughly revise the important topics that appear frequently in JAT (national parks, geographical features, awards and honors, taglines).

  4. Pearson publication: Static GK is becoming increasingly important for acing the exam, so it is necessary to prepare for this section. You could use any static GK book. The Pearson book, on the other hand, is excellent.

  • Verbal Ability:

  1. Norman Lewis's Word Power: It is the best book for acknowledging your language skills even at the CAT level. The first half of the book based on word roots is less significant (very crucial in general) at the JAT level, and the second half of the book with a list of difficult words is the most essential component. Figure out how to learn those odd 800 words, and you'll be able to find keywords from the list.

  2. Bakshi, SP English objective: It is an excellent resource for preparing homonyms, antonyms, and synonyms. Also the best book for practicing one-word substitutions and idioms, which are two of the most important topics for JAT.

  • Logical Reasoning:

  1. It is the simplest topic to prepare for because the level of LR at JAT is beginner, and you should attempt all 25 questions in this section. To adequately prepare for all adversaries, you should solve CAT beginner-level LR questions.

These resources will assist you in properly preparing for the exam. Though it is only one component, your exam taking strategy will have a significant impact on your score.

How should one prepare for the GD/PI/essay writing round for the IIFT entrance exam?

RR
Roshni Roy Posted On : March 19th, 2021
Studied at Medi-Caps Institute of Technology and Management (2018)

The GD and PI round depends completely on your knowledge about the respective topic, current trends, general knowledge, etc. The interviewers tend to check how practical and logical your approach is towards a particular question.

There are certain pointers to be kept in mind while preparing for the GD/ PI/ Essay Writing round for the IIFT entrance exam. They are discussed below -

  • Since most of them come from an Engineering background, a deep knowledge of economics is not something they are looking for. The ability to apply basics and the enthusiasm to be keen to acquire knowledge of the current economic condition of the country and the world is expected as you must be an alert citizen to be a good future manager.
  • You must read and gain knowledge about BRICS, IMF and WTO; countries with their capital cities and currencies, Indian economy's present scenario, role of the sector which you belong to, budget, etc. It is important to read - "The Hindu" and "Indian Express".
  • You can be questioned about your low scores in Graduation, in spite of being an above average student throughout their career and a genuine answer should be given.

IIFT sends a CV form which includes various questions like a student’s achievements, failures, regrets, ethics, practical knowledge, something inspirational, etc.

Since it is sent almost a month before the interview date, you must keep a copy of it and try answering all the possible questions on it. Because that is how they will conduct the interview.

You must also be prepared to answer some questions related to their academics, their favourite subject and then ask questions related to that.

How should I prepare for IIT-JAM chemistry?

RA
Ritesh Agarwal Posted On : March 18th, 2021
Studied at Malaviya National Institute of Technology, Jaipur

Well, for Organic Chemistry, you can go for the following two books.

  • Clayden: It is the best book with deep concepts in Organic Chemistry. Following this book, you can easily crack CSIR-JRF. However, chapter-wise, a detailed-study is needed from the starting and solving of the questions.
  • Bruice: It is the best book for getting an entry-level understanding of Organic Chemistry.

It will be better if you start with Bruice and then Clayden.

Inorganic Chemistry:

  • Huheey
  • J.D. LEE: It is for beginners, and the questions from major topics in IIT-JAM come directly from Huheey; thereby, this book is a must.

Physical Chemistry:

  • You can go through Atkins, however, it will be difficult to understand this book at the initial stage. For Quantum Chemistry, Atkins is a must.
  • You can also look at the various volumes of K.L. Kapoor. It consists of various questions along with solved examples related to Physical Chemistry.

Donald Mcquarrie's book is also a good option, it is the best book for spectroscopy and quantum. This book deals with sufficient terms and provides clear knowledge.

Solve roadmap problems for Organic Chemistry. For this, you must have a good command of the reaction’s name. Thereby, you can study Peter Sykes; maybe it is not comprehensive enough, but it will assist you in gaining in-depth knowledge for the reactions of Organic Chemistry.

Solving previous year’s questions will also be helpful. It will help you get an idea concerning the important chemical reactions. Also, check the organizing institutes of IIT-JAM to understand the demand of each institute.
