How is the hostel life at IIIT Sri City?
The hostel life at IIIT Sri City is very fun and interesting in its own way. Though the city has become a business hub with more than 185 companies in the vicinity, the campus of IIIT Sri City is located in an almost isolated area.
There are three boys hostels and one girls hostel in the campus. Here are some of the perks you would enjoy while staying at the hostel –
- The campus is soothing, especially the evening walks. Being close to the beautiful Pulicat Lake, the sea breezes are simply awesome. A stroll through the night is simply refreshing.
- Playing your favorite sports at night is fun as well. Some students even enjoy playing basketball at 2 AM in the night.
- The best thing about hostel life are its group discussions. You will spend countless sleepless nights among your friends just chatting in the small rooms.
- Whenever you get bored of the regular mess food, you have many small and big restaurants to satisfy your appetite. Swati restaurant, Annapurna, Sunny, New City, Madras Café are some of the best places to hang out with your friends.
- And finally the random fun at hostels. You never know from where and when this might pop up, but this is the best thing about living at a hostel. The four years you will stay at your hostel, you will make more friends and memories than up until your life.
Of course there are some for whom a hostel may seem more like a jail, not getting out of their rooms. But these are few and you should definitely not want yourself to be among them. Just remember that these years will not come back to you and your hostel life will be significantly more enjoyable.

You probably won’t find a detailed account of the life of a girls hostel at IGIT Sarang anywhere. But, I can definitely give you a brief insight of the same, since I have few friends at the institute.
- Freshers are given according to Rohini Bhawan. Rooms at Rohini are 6 sharing. Staying with 6 other people is not easy, so you need to adjust.
- There are no attached bathrooms. There are 4 bathrooms in each corner of the 2-storey hostel. Each bathroom has 3 basins, 3 washrooms, and 3 stalls for baths. Bathrooms are cleaned regularly.
- Power facilities are good. But there are long power cuts, especially during summer.
- Water facilities are not good here. Bring disinfectants like Dettol or Savlon with you if you don’t want to get any skin diseases.

Has Maitreyi College got hostel for outside Delhi girls?
No, Maitreyi College doesn’t have a hostel on campus. Most colleges under DU don’t have hostels. However, you can easily get a pg near the college. Most girls who attend Maitreyi College stay at Satya Niketan. You can easily find a PG there and the college is within walking distance.
How is the girls hostel at CMC Vellore? Are there any special rules? How many students share a room?
The girls' hostel at Christian Medical College in Vellore, India is well-regarded for its cleanliness and safety. Girls have their own governing body and a very friendly and secure atmosphere. The girls are free to do whatever they want and minimal restrictions are imposed upon them, unlike other medical colleges across the country. Usually, they are expected to return to the hostel by 12.
The hostel facilities are top notch including a gym, library, study room, common rooms, beautiful gardens, chapel, and many more. The first-year students are allotted 3–4 seater rooms so that they don't feel lonely or homesick initially. Once they adapt well to the environment, the girls are provided single rooms from the second year.
Overall, the girls' hostel facility at CMC Vellore is great with minimal restrictions and great experiences.
How are the hostels allotted in UIET Chandigarh?
Applications for hostels are submitted at the time of physical reporting. Filling up the forms is done during the counseling. It hardly takes 2-3 days till the final list of hostel allotments is verified and notified.
Following are the criteria needed to be met:
- You will get a sit on the basis of your rank and category (SC, ST, EWS, Others). Last rankers do not get hostel even in the final year.
- Every stream is provided with equal seats. The lower your rank, the higher your preference you receive.
- Quota (SC, ST, OBC) plays an important role in your preference over non- quotas.
- Political help can also work. You can put your issues out to some party and they would willingly help you in getting into the hostel.
- You can stay on a guest basis but you will have to pay more than the actual residents.
You’ll get to know if you have your hostel allocated or not by UIET’s official site. The allocation list is uploaded after every round.
How are hostels at IIT Bhilai?
As you all know that IIT Bhilai is quite new as it started in 2016. So, it's working in its temporary campus until the permanent one gets ready.
Despite the temporary campus, you’ll still get a hostel with good facilities. Currently, there are three different hostels:
- Castle Dio - Freshers
- Castle Teresa - Girls
- Castle Ena- Senior Boys
The mess facility is only provided at Castle Ena so you will have to go there for dining. Also, a bus service is there which picks up students to mess.
Some basic features you need to know:
- You will be allotted four-seater rooms
- WiFi facility is provided which has a good speed reaching up to 2 mbps. Downloading speed is great via laptop with up to 10 Mbps or more.
- You will get ample chances to play Indoor games snooker, table, chess, carrom board. A badminton court is also there however you need to bring your own raquettes.
- You can also watch TV in the recreation room inside the hostel.
These are some of the facts about the hostels of IIT Bhilai. If you find it appealing enough you should go for it. Ultimately it will be your decision.
How is the NIMHANS hostel, mess, food, and accommodation for its postgraduate residents?
NIMHANS is an institute of national importance and has excellent hostel facilities. There are 3 hostels for resident doctors, namely
- Old KABINI hostel
- New KABINI hostel
- KABINI Annexe hostel
Additionally, these hostels have 3 different types of rooms, single, small family, and family. The hostel rooms are allotted on the basis of their availability. Sometimes family rooms are allowed for 2–3 residents.
These hostels have decent facilities and almost everything you want can be procured easily. The Kabini mess in the KABINI Annexe building serves a wide variety of food items like veg, non-veg, salad, juice, ice-creams, chats, etc. But it’s more like a canteen so you have to pay for your food. The staff canteen is attached to the OLD block building and serves diction breakfast and lunch.
Overall, the hostel facilities for PG residents at NIMHANS are great.
What should I carry to NIT Surathkal hostel for the first time?
Here is a list of items that you may want to consider bringing with you to your hostel at NIT Surathkal:
- At least 7 pairs of Cotton clothes
- Swimwear
- Bed linens, including a fitted sheet, flat sheet, and pillowcase

What are the hostel facilities in IIITM Gwalior?
The Hostel facilities are very good in IIITM Gwalior. The hostels are taken care of and hygienically maintained as well. The corridor area, mess, and bathroom areas are cleaned by the staff on a daily basis.
- The students are allocated single and double occupancy rooms and it depends on their luck because the rooms are distributed by the officials on the first come first serve basis. But there is no such issue if the student gets double occupancy in the first year, as the students are allocated a single room from the second year.
- Each room has LAN Port. The students are open to various facilities in the hostel premises such as 24x7 Unlimited access to the high-speed internet (10 Mbps).
- The Mess food is decent.
- Most of the facilities are similar to the IITs such as internet connection, centralized AC classroom, and Labs.
Academics are not as per standard but they are expected to be improved because the institute has recruited new faculties. One good thing about IIITM Gwalior is that all the faculties in the institute are PHDs from reputed universities. All other facilities like cricket ground, football ground, sports complex, badminton court, swimming pool are available. Also, there is a gym in the sports complex but it is in bad condition. Thus, one can say that the hostel and other facilities are good at IIITM Gwalior.
Which is the best hostel at NIT Rourkela?
There is no ‘best’ hostel because every student considers his own hostel better than others because it's the place he spent the best years of his life and gave him precious memories. Also, NIT Rourkela does not have hostels but Halls of Residence. That being said, my sister, an ex-student of NIT Rourkela considered her hall, Kiran Mazumdar Shaw Hall of Residence the best hall in NIT Rourkela.
- This hall is closest to the entrance and is surrounded by lush greenery.
- The hall serves the best food on campus. Mostly students of other halls complain about the quality of food served but here students enjoy their dinner time the most.
- This hall is the most maintained and furnished hall on the campus because of limited borders.
- The hall is the smallest and therefore it's easy to maintain its beauty. You will find a variety of flowers and plants in its garden.
- The boarders of this hall are from diverse courses and departments. This ensures a versatile hostel life. the seniors are there to guide the juniors all the time.
- KMS has the most spacious rooms of all the halls on campus.
- The hall is the perfect place to escape to during extremely hot climates. The tall trees at Central Avenue are a perfect shade.
- The hall is in close proximity to various departments like EC, EE, CS, etc.
Overall, KMS is the best hall of residence in NIT Rourkela that offers a peaceful and serene experience.
