Which is better AIIMS or JIPMER?

Prerona Datta Posted On : September 21st, 2023

Although both JIPMER and AIIMS are elite medical colleges in India, I believe AIIMS is slightly better than JIPMER. Here are some common differences that can be pointed out

  • JIPMER has a higher intake than AIIMS so the student-teacher ratio is also higher. This further results in a higher student-patient ratio when one patient is examined for a class.
  • AIIMS has a bigger hospital, more patient flow, and better equipment thereby enhancing the overall learning experience. In AIIMS students are left to study on their own and academics aren’t forced upon them while in JIPMER the teachers teach a lot of theory and practice.
  • AIIMS refers most general and simple cases to other hospitals so you won’t be able to see a variety of cases while in JIPMER, you see all types of cases.
  • AIIMS has better research facilities and funding so if you are willing to do research projects, AIIMS is better for you.
  • JIPMER offers extensive internships that teach a lot and provide hands-on experience and clinical practice. AIIMS clinical testing and internships aren’t that good.
  • Both JIPMER and AIIMS have a strong alumni network and reservations for post-graduation courses that give you ample opportunities for courses and jobs after finishing your studies.
  • Delhi being a metropolitan city has better recreational activities while Pondicherry is the best place if you want a peaceful and calm environment.
  • Pulse by AIIMS is the largest intercollegiate medical festival in the country while Spandan by JIPMER is probably the second largest. Pulse definitely has better cultural activities while Spandan definitely has better sporting ones.
  • AIIMS has better post-graduation and super specialty courses.

Overall, both are excellent institutes and if you even have a choice between AIIMS and JIPMER, then go for AIIMS.

How do I clear Anna University exams without any arrears?

PM
Priya Mishra Posted On : December 16th, 2022
Lived in Nagore.

Assuming you are writing in the exam room, you are required to complete an answer sheet for a question paper at home within the allotted time. Practice the fundamentals for questions worth two points, and remember that examiners won't read long answers; instead, try to highlight the key points. Diagrams convey more details as well as marks. Simply put, they will check the points. Just stick to topics that are direct and highly profitable.

You must not overlook any derivatives when attempting to solve a math problem. Even if your response to the question is accurate, the examiners may not give you full credit. They award points up to the point where you failed to write the proper derivatives.

What are reviews about ISI (Indian Statistical Institute) placements and MS programmes at centres in Delhi, Bengaluru and Kolkata?

TC
Tarun Chakraborty Posted On : September 1st, 2021
Studied at Indian Statistical Institute (2017)

Having to know some people studying at both Simsree and KJ Somaiya and here are some things that you should know. They both are equally good.

  • Both the institutes, for their MMS course, teach the same syllabus specified by the University of Mumbai. So, according to the content, there is no difference.
  • This is generally a good thing that you are specializing in something that roughly 4 to 5% of the batch will specialize in.
  • It is not as difficult for the placement committee to get companies with specific profiles.
  • The institutes have been there for a fairly long time and both have a steady pool of recruiters. Therefore, placements are not very problematic.
  • Having said that, placements depend on multiple factors, and nothing can be guaranteed.
  • K J Somaiya has more full-time faculty members whereas SIMSREE has more visiting faculty members. But cannot say the same about the operations specialization.

Irrespective of where you go, your responsibility is to get better, participate in competitions, do certifications, and improve yourself holistically. The institute cannot impose anything if you have no intention of doing it.

How is life at SP Jain (SPJIMR) for a full time MBA (PGDM)?

MJ
Manash Jyoti Posted On : March 6th, 2023
Masters of Business Administration Degrees, Jain University

Life at all the top B Schools in India for MBA aspirants is pretty much the same. It’s hectic and rigorous but highly knowledgeable. The B Schools offer an insight into the various angles of Management in a period of 2 years through excellently designed pedagogy and curriculum.

Coming to SPJIMR specifically, has a blend of a variety of features that sets it apart from other top B Schools. Some of these include Innovative pedagogy, Profile-based interview calls, ADMAP, DOCC, Abhyudaya, Global Fast Track, and Autumn placement structure. But the one aspect my answer will solely focus on is the amazing culture of SPJIMR which is like no other B School.

  • Harmony: When it comes to student connectivity, SPJIMR really does steal the show. While many B Schools have witnessed cases wherein ragging and bringing down rivals is a common occurrence, SPJIMR refuses to adopt this culture. There is tremendous harmony among the students such that if someone was struck during a presentation, the whole class would try their level best to save him from embarrassment. Such small acts speak highly of the student connection which was observed even by many professors who had visited other B Schools too.
  • Collaboration: The much-heated events in a B School are Corporate Competitions that are said to bring out the worst side of people. Other B Schools have competitions where competitors are treated as rivals and there is tough competition. Interestingly enough, SPJIMR has a very different outlook on the same. SPJIMR students collaborate with each other while preparing for these competitions. Basically, students help out their batchmates before themselves, and this results in a beautiful bond between them.
  • Placement Committee: It is very common for a placement committee to be rude toppers who are always causing constant wars between the students. They become placeCom mainly for upgrading their CV. But SPJIMR Placement Committee is yet again very different in the sense that its sole purpose is to get its students the best placements. They conduct elaborate discussions to formulate training plans for the students to face the tough placements. They are friendly yet stern.

I know many may criticize me for jotting such minor points in reference to campus life at SPJIMR. But in my opinion, the culture of an Institute is a very important parameter as it determines what kind of relationships you will have with your peers and the kind of friends you will have for a lifetime. You get to have the best alumni network as a cherry on top.

What are some helpful tips for students starting their first year at IISc Bangalore?

SM
Sanket Mondal Posted On : July 14th, 2023
Studied at Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore (2020)

Here are some helpful tips if you are starting your first year at IISc Bangalore:

  • Humble yourself- At IISc, you will find peers who will be better than you at one thing or the other. Humble yourself and be open to the plenty of opportunities offered to you.
  • Involve in Conversations- Students, especially Masters and Ph.D. students, come from various backgrounds and are of different age groups. If you converse with the people around you and learn to accept differing views, you will hear new ideas and perspectives.
  • Be prepared to deal with uncertainty- You will face uncertainty on many occasions.

Ph.D. students have to be well-prepared to face uncertainty every single day. On numerous accounts, you are left on your own with no guidance at all. Also, no amount of guidance will ever be sufficient.

Even the Bangalore weather is very uncertain. One day it might rain heavily, and the following day might be a sunny one.

  • Enjoy your stay in Bangalore- The city is filled with fun places, and IISc Bangalore is located in the heart of it. There are numerous spots around Bangalore, located within a 500 km range. There is sufficient connectivity.

Hindi and English work fine but try to learn the local language. Many South Indians prefer dialogue in English or their local languages, so Hindi might not work in every scenario.

  • Work hard during your first year - The coursework at IISc is extremely hard and more demanding than even some of the top US universities. Assignments can get tough and the concepts may not be clear in the first instant. Courses with laboratory work are harder.
  • Make time for fun- Make a habit of jogging, cycling, or walking on campus. Make good friends and have healthy conversations with them. Learn a new skill, especially something that will be of use to you in the future.
  • Do not break ties with Old friends- Call your old friends and arrange meetups. This will help you during times when your studies will become overwhelming.

IISc Bangalore will challenge and groom you in numerous ways. Make the most out of your stay there.

How good is Jaipur national university?

NR
Nikhil Rawat Posted On : October 20th, 2021
Completed B.Tech+MBA Engineering & Computer, Jaipur National University in 2020

Jaipur National University is quite average. Most of the students opted for this university because they did not have much of a choice.

  • The academics are thrown out of the window and priority is given to extracurriculars, which often hampers the students' education.
  • No workshops are held in the university and it never organizes tours for the students.
  • In addition to these, the labs are very poor and there are little to no instruments in the labs.
  • The faculty members are very laid back and they also lack the capability.
  • The quality of the food is also very bad.
  • Placements here are also not good.

After analyzing all these things, you definitely do not want to go to Jaipur National University, as most of the remarks about it were negative.

Is electronics and design technology for NIT Calicut worthy? How are the core placements for this branch?

MD
Megha Deb Posted On : March 23rd, 2021
Studied at National Institute of Technology, Calicut (2019)

To decide a course’s worth depends not only on the subjects dealt with but also on the aptitude/expectations of the student.

It would be good to keep in mind that power electronics is quite a vast field. Electronics Design and Technology is like any other specialization offered by NITC.

If you go in-depth you get to know that this course is a blend of VLSI and embedded/system design. If you are interested in the VLSI domain, then EDT is definitely your way. Most of the subjects are shared with Microelectronics & VLSI branches.

Course Fee

Highest CTC

Average CTC

Recruiting Companies

TI, Broadcom, Nvidia, Synopsys, etc.

Okay, let us take a look at the placement scenario:

  • Placements are a bit off for M.Tech students relative to B.Tech students at NITC.
  • Several core VLSI companies (TI, Broadcom, Nvidia, Synopsys, etc) end up hiring mostly B.Tech batch.
  • It also depends on your academics too.
  • Intel usually hires interns during the second year.
  • These internship opportunities are available only to VLSI and EDT students mainly.

Though, the chance for placement in core companies directly is relatively less. But, if you manage to maintain your CGPA on or above 8 you have a chance to get into a good internship opportunity. There will be internship opportunities available in companies like Broadcom, Intel, and Cypress.

Most of these guys selected will be converted to full-time after one year of internship. You can do an internship and Second-year M.Tech main project at the same time. If you are really good you can also try for an internship from other branches like Telecom and Signal Processing.
