The average cost of living in Malaysia ranges between 25,400 to 45,000 MYR (4.75 to 8.45 lakhs INR) per year. Students living in university dormitories can expect to spend around 305 to 1200 MYR per month (5,700 to 22,500 INR) as house rent.
Given your rank of 2900, it would be very difficult to get CSE in these colleges. So you need a lot of luck during the Spot Counseling. If anyone withdraws their admission at the last moment from the CSE branch of these colleges then you might get admission.
There are chances of getting a seat in MSIT or BVCoE, but it is very difficult in MAIT. Here are the recent cutoff trends of both MAIT and BVCoE

The flagship PGDM program at TAPMI is highly regarded and could be a good option for you. It has been accredited by both AMBA and AACSB, two of the most prestigious international accreditations. TAPMI is also ranked among the top private business schools in India.
The PGDM program at TAPMI is designed to help you develop leadership skills through value creation. This includes enhancing your functional skills and being able to take initiative under uncertainty, with minimal guidance and supervision. You'll also learn how to persist in unfamiliar contexts and collaborate effectively with others. Additionally, the program emphasizes the importance of clear communication, listening to feedback (even when it contradicts your own views), and understanding the need to contribute beyond personal goals and achievements. You'll also learn how to reflect on your decisions, avoiding the short-termism that can often lead to poor outcomes.
If you choose to attend TAPMI, you'll have the opportunity to work with some of the most well-known companies in India. In fact, key recruiters in TAPMI Placements 2022 included Deloitte, TITAN, ITC, HP, Nestlé India Limited, Capgemini, GEP Worldwide, J. P. Morgan Chase, Virtusa Polaris, EY India, Citibank, Accenture, Airtel Payments Bank, CRISIL, ICICI Bank, Infosys, KPMG, Michael Page, and Goldman Sachs, among others. This means that you'll have a wide range of potential employers to choose from after completing your degree. So yes, all the placement reports are really true.
Between KJ Somaiya and VJTI, the latter is definitely better. Whether or not you should take a year drop that depends on you and how important is this year to you.
Comparison:
If you compare KJ Somaiya and VJTI, in terms of placement and higher education you will see that the best students from KJ Somaiya do get similar opportunities as VJTI students. One of my friends attended VJTI and got placed in a company that was one of the best to visit KJ Somaiya too. So, he has 4-6 colleagues from KJ Somaiya.
As long as brand value goes, after 5 years of the compilation of your course, no one will care where are you from VJTI or KJ Somaiya.
People will care if you are from IIT though because IIT brand-name sticks.
A word of advice, dropping a year to join VJTI may not be worth it. If you are going to drop a year, try to get into an IIT or IIIT.

Mount Carmel College is one of the finest in Bangalore. It has received star college award for the science department. The campus has a great student crowd with fantastic energy.
The college has good infrastructure. Every class has a hybrid board for presentation. The campus has a lot of uncluttered spaces to socialize and study. The sports facilities are pretty good as well. The basketball and the fields are well-maintained. The campus also has a well-equipped gym.
The professors are well-qualified and helpful. The undergraduate courses taught at the college have a decent balance between theoretical and practical subjects.
Mount Carmel College placements are pretty good. In the recent placement, the median CTC offered to students was INR 3 LPA. The number of companies visiting the campus is increasing each year. Big MNCs like Wipro, Dell, E&Y, JP Morgan, etc. visit the campus drive.
I don’t think many people regret joining NIT Durgapur. In fact, one of my friends who was earlier doubtful about the institute said that choosing NIT Durgapur was one of the best decisions of his life.
The institute does have some cons such as average mess food and poor quality of hostels, however, the condition is similar in almost all engineering colleges. Over the past few years, it has been working hard to improve its infrastructure and many new and modern hostels are coming up. There are decent options for eating near the campus. Additionally, a new assembly hall is also under construction.
The faculty pool like any other engineering college comprises both highly and low qualified professors. You can develop a good rapport with them and trust me they will guide you in making big choices.
The academic environment is improving for the better and so are the placements. NIT Durgapur also has a tie-up with CERN, Geneva and with the Department of Atomic Energy for the world's first Helium gas exploration plant coming up at Bakreswar. Subir Chowdhury, the present CEO and MD of JCB India, is also an alumni of this college
Considering all the above facts, I don’t think you can regret joining the institute.
