As an institute, IIT Madras is much ahead of IIT Bhubaneswar, as it is one of the oldest and reputed IITs. But electrical engineering in IIT Bhubaneswar is quite good and offers many opportunities. The institute also has very impressive placement stats. In the year 2019, around 86% of students got placed from the Electrical engineering branch. The official average package for the batch 2017 as released by the institute (IIT Bhubaneswar) for Electrical Engineering was 8.5 LPA. A good number of core companies, software companies and PSU’s hire Electrical Engineers (EE) from IIT Bhubaneswar.
Also, Chemical engineering is a great branch with many prospects. Companies like O&G, Chemical Research firms- for both India & abroad visit regularly for placements. The non- core companies like Fin, MC. Techs are also open for Chemical Engineers. IITM offers decent placements, in 2019 there was 85.52% placement from duel degrees and the placement rate for Chemical Engineers was around 74%. The average CTC offered in IITM was 16 LPA.
