SD
Saunak Dasgupta Posted On : April 26th, 2023
ISB Hyderabad

All three institutes - ISB, XLRI, and FMS - are renowned management schools in India, and each of them has its unique strengths and specializations. However, when it comes to selecting the best college for an engineer with little to no experience, the following factors can help you make an informed decision:

  • Course Curriculum: The course curriculum should be designed in a way that gives you a strong foundation in business management, while also providing you with exposure to real-world business scenarios. You should look for a program that offers a balance of theoretical and practical learning opportunities.
  • Faculty: The quality of faculty is a crucial factor in determining the effectiveness of a management program. Look for professors with industry experience and academic excellence, who can provide you with the guidance and mentorship you need to excel in your career.
  • Placement Opportunities: As someone with little to no experience, it is important to choose a college that offers excellent placement opportunities. Look for institutes with a good track record of placing their students in reputed companies, and that has a strong alumni network that can help you with job placements and networking.
  • Industry Partnerships: Look for institutes that have strong ties with the industry and offer opportunities for internships and industry projects. Such partnerships can help you gain practical exposure to the industry and help you build your professional network.

Based on the above factors, here's a brief overview of each of the three institutes:

  • ISB: Indian School of Business (ISB) is a top-ranked business school in India that offers a one-year Post Graduate Programme in Management (PGPM) and a two-year Post Graduate Programme in Management for Working Professionals (PGPpro). ISB has a diverse student community and faculty and offers excellent placement opportunities with an average salary package of around INR 25-30 lakhs per annum.
  • XLRI: Xavier School of Management (XLRI) is a leading business school that offers a two-year Post Graduate Diploma in Management (PGDM) and a 15-month Executive General Management Programme (EGMP). XLRI has a strong reputation for academic excellence, and its curriculum is designed to provide students with a strong foundation in management principles. XLRI also has a good placement record, with an average salary package of around INR 23 lakhs per annum.
  • FMS: Faculty of Management Studies (FMS) is a premier business school under the University of Delhi that offers a two-year full-time MBA program. FMS has a strong alumni network and excellent faculty, and its curriculum is designed to provide students with a good understanding of business management principles. FMS also offers good placement opportunities, with an average salary package of around INR 25-26 lakhs per annum.

In conclusion, all three institutes - ISB, XLRI, and FMS - are excellent choices for an engineer with little to no experience. You should consider your own personal goals and priorities and choose the institute that best aligns with them.

Who earns more, IIT Delhi (B.Tech) or IIM Ahmedabad (MBA)?

RR
Rajshekhar Roy Posted On : December 13th, 2022
Bsc Maths from St. Xavier's College, Mumbai (Graduated 2021)

Comparing the average CTC of IIT Delhi and IIM Ahmedabad we get:

  • Average CTC of IIT Delhi: INR 16 LPA

  • Average CTC of IIM Ahmedabad: INR 26 LPA

One gets into IIM Ahmedabad after gaining 2.5 years of work experience. Adding the 2 year PGP Program, he is likely to start earning after 4.5 years. Around this time, candidates of both IIM Ahmedabad and IIT Delhi will be earning almost the same amount.

The only advantage an IIM Ahmedabad student will have is its tag which will add value in the long run.

Is IIT Kharagpur good for CS or any other branch?

AD
Ajay Diwan Posted On : March 27th, 2023
Studied at IIT Kharagpur

Although Kanpur, Bombay, and Kharagpur three are excellent Engineering institutes, it's IIT Kharagpur that steals the show with NIRF ranking of 5.

The director of IIT Kharagpur itself is the ex-HOD of the CS department and thus cares much about the department. Most of my friends and seniors from the CS department are in awe of the experience they had in their branch at IIT KGP.

As far as the other branches are concerned, IIT KGP provides a versatile list of relevant courses such as Industrial and Manufacturing Engineering that have excellent placement statistics and high cutoffs.

Even the integrated MSc in Economics has gained much popularity among IITians. The Mining department of IIT Kharagpur ranks 37th whereas other departments to have decent ranks globally.

Is MDI Gurgaon a good option to pursue an MBA?

SN
Satya Narayanan Posted On : February 23rd, 2023
PGPM from Management Development Institute, Gurgaon (2017)

MDI Gurgaon is certainly not a new name amongst MBA aspirants in India. Like the IITs and IIMs MDI also needs no bold introduction. So if your question is simply if MDI Gurgaon is good or not then the simple answer is yes, it is very good indeed. But if you are looking for a more detailed answer as to what makes it a good option over other B Schools, here it is.

Management Development Institute, known as MDI Gurgaon is one of the leading private B-schools founded in 1973. Ranked 10 for Private MBA by NIRF 2020 and 3 for Private MBA by Outlook 2020, it is one of the top institutes for Management education in India for offering PG, executive PG, doctoral, and Management development programs to students. Other highlights include

  • The placements are at par with IIM (L I K)
  • The curriculum is well structured and rigorous which makes its students corporate-ready
  • The campus life is enriching and you are bound to create innumerable memories.
  • MDI Gurgaon has been the first Indian B-school to have received international accreditation from the Association of MBAs (AMBA) London in 2006 and hence enjoys global recognition.

If you are confident you can get into this B School with your profile and CAT score, don’t leave this opportunity at any cost.

How good is PGDM- Full time at IMT Ghaziabad with almost 4 years work ex?

AS
Adi Shankara Posted On : January 27th, 2023
B.Tech in Bachelor of Technology in Electrical and Electronics Engineering

IMT Ghaziabad placement and admission process both lay great emphasis on Work Experience. So your work experience of 4 years will define work in your favor not only during the GE-PI rounds but during placements also.

One way to determine if your admission will be worth leaving your job is to calculate your ROI (Fees vs Avg CTC *2 with 2 yrs of loss in pay based on your existing CTC).

If you are confident enough you target other better B Schools also for wider prospects. You can check the career prospects of the field you have been working in and in case you are switching careers do the same for that field too. Check the best offers in that line and compare it with other B Schools. Such in-depth research will help you make a better decision that you won’t regret later.

Is it possible for recruiters to check if someone had a backlog in their 1st semester even after clearing it in the 3rd semester under MAKAUT?

KR
Kritika Roy Posted On : July 7th, 2023
studied at Maulana Abul Kalam Azad University Of Technology

Yes, they would carefully analyze the backlog even after you cleared it in the third semester. The certificate provided by MAKAUT clearly mentions the year of passing, which is a disadvantage for students with a backlog. Some companies give preference to students without a backlog; in such cases, you won’t be able to attend the interviews. But many giant recruiters are looking for the talent and skills of the candidate, not the mark list. Try to score a minimum of 60% in your academics, which is the basic eligibility requirement to appear for placement. So do not worry about your backlog and strive hard to clear it in the third semester itself.

Is CMC Ludhiana a better option for a MBBS?

Namrata Das Posted On : September 25th, 2023

A close friend of mine studies at CMC Ludhiana and gave me insight into the actual scenario of academics there.

  • The academic environment may not be the best but it certainly is decent. You will have professors poking you to study hard, guide you, and keep track of your progress.
  •  The institute has a very poor infrastructure that hinders the classroom experience to a certain extent.
  • The institute has a decent number of co-curricular and extra-curricular activities and organizes a musical theatre every year.
  • CMC Ludhiana fees are extremely high around INR 6.6 for the first year which keeps increasing. It may not seem worth it.
  • The hostel facilities are also average although better than many government colleges.

Overall, if your only goal is to study and become a good doctor, CMC Ludhiana is a decent choice for sure but if you also want a dynamic college life then I will suggest considering other options.
