Here are a few highlights about the campus and seniors at VSSUT Burla

Campus

  • The VSSUT Burla campus is located in Burla, around 8–9 kilometers from Sambalpur. It is surrounded by the Mahanadi River, small hills, and the Hirakud Dam.
  • The campus is huge around 500 acres
  • The campus comprises an administrative block, department buildings, a central library, a central workshop, an auditorium, a canteen, a student activity center, a gymnasium, a sports ground, and hostels for students.
  • The classrooms are well-equipped and maintained with modern facilities.
  • The laboratories are decent although most equipment is outdated.
  • The campus has a huge sports ground that is always open to students.

Seniors

  • VSSUT has a 60-year-old legacy with an amazing culture. It has excellent harmony between seniors and juniors. Ragging in no form is present here although occasionally seniors may encounter you with stupid and baffling questions. It’s the seniors who will help you out every time even more than your professors.

Hope this helps you!

Do I get enough time to prepare for the GATE with an MTech degree at NIT Kurukshetra?

SR
Sumit Roy Posted On : September 2nd, 2023
Studied at National Institute of Technology, Kurukshetra

Yes, as a student of NIT Kurukshetra, my brother told me that he had enough time to prepare for GATE with an MTech degree. In fact most of the students there can be seen preparing for competitive exams like IAS or CAT. The light workload of NIT Kurukshetra makes it possible for students to spare time for GATE. Here are some additional tips you can follow

  1. Don't set high targets for your CGPA. A 7.5 CGPA is more than enough to get you through. Invest all your efforts in one thing i.e., GATE preparation.
  2. Choose an easy research topic in your second year that will not take up all your time.
  3. Choosing the right meteor is also very crucial as sometimes they give you so much stress that your preparations might suffer.

Follow the steps above and be serious about your goals and you are good to go.

What is the London Immersion program of IIM Jammu?

Sayantani Barman Posted On : February 12th, 2024

IIM Jammu has stopped its Student Immersion Program. The same has been replaced with its Student Exchange Program. IIM Jammu has ties with 7 foreign colleges from Europe (including Greece), and talks are in place with 2 other colleges.

Under this program, select students from IIM Jammu get a chance to spend a trimester at one of these foreign colleges. For the same duration, some students from that particular college are called to the IIM Jammu campus. IIM Jammu selects its students for the exchange program based on merit.

The exchange program is a great learning experience which offers plenty of exposure to students from both sides.

Why are the placements of new IIITs (Vadodara, Guwahati, Kota, etc.) not that good? What are your predictions about other new upcoming IIITs?

NV
Naveen Verma Posted On : April 16th, 2021
Studied at Indian Institute of Information Technology, Vadodara

The placements depend upon various factors. The most important thing is the brand name of the institute, facilities in the institute, and the quality of students admitted.

Taking a new IIIT into picture, there are various possibilities that the placements are low:

  • The students are unable to perform as per their potential because they lack proper guidance, motivation, and facilities.
  • As these colleges are new, they lack reputation in the industry and companies cannot value the students in that college based on any past experience.
  • In the new IIIT, it is a common scenario that facilities emphasize on rote learning rather than practical skills. Therefore, the students lack industry skills.
  • There are no alumni network associated with the institute. So, the students lack junior-senior bond and networking opportunities.
  • The college requires time to build connections with the companies for the placement purpose.
  • At the initial years, the infrastructure facilities are also under-construction. Even if they are established, maintaining the quality of these facilities is essential which requires time.

With the listed points, it would be difficult to expect great placement from new companies in the new IIITs (Vadodara, Kota, Guwahati, etc.). But these problems are for temporary years. The institutes develop over the time and show great placements like that of top IIITs.

Is it better to get a degree of an M.Sc. in Economics from IIT Kharagpur or BITS Hyderabad?

AS
Atul Sharma Posted On : March 27th, 2023
Works at Indian Institute of Technology, Kharagpur (IIT KGP)

It’s better to talk about both institutes individually to make a more informed decision.

IIT Kharagpur offers a 5-year Integrated M.Sc in Economics and has a wide scope today. There are many advantages to being a part of the IIT KGP family

  • It has a rich culture
  • Learn and explore new things
  • Branch change at the end of the first year
  • You can seek great help from seniors
  • You get a lifetime tag of being an IITian

Similarly, BITS Hyderabad too offers an integrated MSc degree in Economics. Additionally, you can add an extra major (BE course) in your first year, but this is optional. The institute has no lucrative points apart from the fact that it is a decent Engineering college sought by those who are unable to make it into IITs.

Personally, I would suggest you go for an IIT because of the brand name and legacy. You won’t regret this decision later because of the IIT Tag that will already come to your rescue.

To what extent do your internal marks affect your overall CGPA at Heritage Institute of Technology(after becoming an autonomous institute)?

AM
Ayan Mukherjee Posted On : September 24th, 2021
Studied Electronics and Communication Engineering at Heritage Institute of Technology,Kolkata (2019)

According to my friends from Heritage, 50% of your internal marks depend on your attendance. So, your attendance plays a significant role in your internal marks. Viva is conducted by the teachers as a part of the internal. Scoring good marks only in the end-semester examination will not help you in scoring a high GPA, you will have to score good marks in internal exams as well. If you have a good attendance record, you might get grace marks as well.

Since it is an autonomous institute, you will have to attend the classes. It does not matter whether you like the classes or not otherwise you will not get good internal marks. This is why there is a 60% mandatory attendance criterion.

How can I get a seat in an MBA in JNTUH ?

JP
Jiten Pradhan Posted On : August 8th, 2023
Studied at Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University, Hyderabad (2020)

To get admission to in MBA at JNTUH, you have to take the TS ICET and qualify it. You have to get a rank in 3 digits. If you are from OC, the cutoff rank goes below 300. For caste reservation, the rules of ICET are followed. The total number of seats is around 40, but the seats are usually not filled completely.

You can also seek admission as an NRI student and take the exam for that particular category. The fee, however, is 10 times the ICET fee. Also, only 2 to 3 NRI students are admitted in a single batch. There is also the CMU option in which you study for 1 year at JNTUH and another year at Michigan University. It is a separate batch and contains 20 students.

The MBA faculty over here is great and highly experienced. You will thoroughly enjoy the classes. You will have to work hard and secure a good rank in the ICET exam to secure your seat for the MBA program at JNTUH.

What is the placement procedure of NMIMS?

AM
Abhishek Mishra Posted On : February 28th, 2023
Self-proclaimed expert

The NMIMS placement procedure is rather lengthy and involves a number of steps.

  1. Step 1: Preparing your CV- The first and foremost step of the placement procedure is to prepare your CV. The placement committee releases a predetermined format for the same and you have to prepare your CV in accordance with it and get it approved by the committee.
  2. Pre-placement talks: These talks are held throughout the year and especially as the placement season commences. It’s a two-way process as the students are offered an insight into the kind of roles and packages offered by the visiting companies and the companies in turn get an insight into the quality of the batch on the basis of questions asked.
  3. Placement applications: Students are required to fill in the placement forms in the desired companies. The companies invite applications for interested candidates to apply. This process may include assessment tests, uploading videos, or writing about yourself and why should the company hire you.
  4. Placement days: The commencement of the placement season is what onsets the visits of companies on the campus. The days are hectic with companies visiting the campus alongside PTTs. Every company has its own discrete criteria for selection which may include group discussions and other rounds. The results are declared mostly on the same day.
  5. Final Acceptance: The selected candidates are sent an email from the company informing them of their final acceptance.

The placement procedure remains the same for both summer placements and final placements except that summer placements are less hectic and competitive.

How is IIM Lucknow & Wiley’s product analytics program? It costs almost 2 lakhs. Is it worth it? Has anyone done this course?

SB
Sulagana Bhattacharya Posted On : January 9th, 2023
MBA from Indian Institute of Management Lucknow (2021)

Honestly, there are so many online courses offering the same program that are cost-friendly. Brand name does not play any major role in your career in Analytics. So paying such hefty fees is not understandable. Also, the professors of Analytics here are too old and have never worked in the field in real life. They are just here to earn money and impart bookish knowledge.

Courses like these require passion and willingness to learn and not a brand name or huge fees. This course is suitable for a senior manager who is eager to learn about Analytics.
