Is IIT Kharagpur a good place to study Computer Science?
It is not an unknown fact that the CSE department of IIT Kharagpur is the best of the entire institute and has amazing academic records. So I will be discussing things that are not academically relevant
- IIT KGP has an entire hospital (B.C. Roy Technology Hospital) on campus, providing free medicines and treatment to all students.
- Every hall of residence has its own stationary, grocery, and photocopy shops.
- There is also an in-campus Tech market that has all necessities.
- In addition to the mess and hall canteens of the hostel, there is a Cafe Coffee Day, a Baskins Robbins, a Subway outlet and numerous restaurants to satisfy your taste buds.
- The sports facilities include Basketball courts, Football grounds, and indoor games as well. Every hostel has its own sports facilities and Television (common room).
- IIT Kharagpur has 24/7 internet facilities with speeds of 4-8 Mbps.
- Lastly, IIT KGP has the largest technical library in Asia that is stacked with reputed engineering journals.
To sum it up, IIT Kharagpur is a good place for students considering joining the CSE branch.
Which is better; Information science (IE) at Ambedkar Institute of technology or CSE at Global Academy of Technology?
Ambedkar Institute of Technology and Global Academy are reputed colleges of Bangalore. NIRF 2020 has ranked the Ambedkar Institute of Technology at 251 for BTech. Whereas, the Global Academy of Technology has NAAC accreditation (‘A’ grade).
Admission:For BE in Information Science & Technology atAmbedkar Institute of technology and for CSE at Global Academy the admission is through COMEDK UGET or KCET. The required eligibility is 10+2 from a recognized board.

Is MANIT Bhopal is good for CS engineering?
Here are some details on the B.Tech CS at MANIT Bhopal-
- Faculty- Not all teachers of the department are experts in their field, but you’ll find some really good ones in the faculty. Some of them have completed their degrees from renowned IITs like IITD, IITB, IITR, etc. At the end of the day, most things depend on your own efforts.
- Labs- The lab facility is poor at MANIT. The CS labs have system issues, poor internet, and lack of proper mentors. Not just the labs of MANIT, but even the hostels face internet connectivity issues. If you are keen on learning, you’ll find out ways of dealing with such situations.
- Environment and Peers- The department has very talented students, some of whom learn programming even before joining B.Tech. Girls Hostel - Alaknanda
All the above hostels are pretty old yet well-maintained due to frequent renovations and reprints. The rooms allotted are triple occupancy. The cost is very low and can easily be afforded by everyone. The hostels have decent internet connections second only to the network provided by the CCN (Centre for Computing and Networking), which contains the main server.
Every hostel has its own mess but the food served is below average. Most of the time you will have to eat from outside despite paying monthly mess charges.
Overall, these hostels have a good ambiance and will give you some of the best memories of your life.

A few years ago my brother appeared for JEE Main and scored 222. He got admission to IIIT Bangalore. His batchmates scored a similar score and the highest score was 230. The majority of the batch scored in the range of 190–195.

What should I choose between BITS Goa CS and IIT Roorkee Applied Maths?
Applied Maths at IIT Roorkee is a more viable alternative than BITS Goa CS provided that you have an interest in coding.
- The course structure of Applied Mathematics is quite similar to that of KGP MnC. Unlike the general assumption, this program isn’t research-oriented. Only a few who have a deep passion for Maths take up research as a much later endeavor.
- The best part of the program is the excellent job opportunities it offers. Its placements are second only to CS, the most preferred branch.

- IIT Roorkee has the highest intake of this program even more than IIIT Hyderabad.

- The course structure covers diverse topics like data structures, design, Analysis of algorithms, and discrete mathematics. All these topics help to strengthen the Computer programming base of students.
So, Applied Mathematics is a much better option than BITS Goa CS.
Which is better for CSE, Amity University Lucknow or Galgotia University Greater Noida?
If you are living in Lucknow, Amity University Lucknow is more feasible. It is better than Galgotias University for many reasons. Amity University is a more reputed university.

How difficult is it to change branches in NIT Patna from mechanical to CSE?
It certainly is difficult to change branches in NIT Patna from Mechanical to CSE. The change of branch allotted by JoSSA in NIT Patna is done after two semesters. As per the policies,
- Students of B.Tech. or Integrated M.Sc. can change their branch to any other branch of their choice.
- Students of B.Arch. are not allowed to change their branches because their admission was done on the basis of Paper - II of JEE (Mains), not Paper - I.
- The total strength of a particular branch cannot exceed 110% of the original strength
- The total strength of a particular branch cannot be dropped beyond 90%.
Basically, there can only be an increase of 10% in the strength of a particular branch.
To be eligible for branch change students have to complete the following criteria
- The students must have completed all credits of the first two semesters in their first attempt.
- The student must have scored a CGPA not less than 8.25 in the first year.
The criteria appear to be quite simple but the reality is changing the branch to CSE is a bit tricky and challenging. The seats usually vanish up to 9 CGPA for CSE, because the competition is tough for this particular branch.
So, opt for branch change only if you are genuinely interested in the branch you want to get into.
