Which is better, an MBA at BHU or a PGDM at BIMTECH?

Why there is no DC++ in IIT BHU?

Actually DC++ is present in IIT BHU for quite some time. Since torrent is blocked in IIT’s WIFI, students are heavily dependent on DC++ on most IITs. Older IITs have the fastest DC++ hubs like Kharagpur, Bombay, Roorkee. This is where they share movies, games, tutorials, software, and many more. You can visit the IIT BHU DC’s Facebook page and check out if there are still any working hubs. Their FB has more than a thousand followers and you will get all the information there like how to join, hub info, etc. You can also find a website on IIT BHU dc++. You can find the link on their Facebook page itself. Go there and join their group. Better ask any one of the followers of the group as they can give you the specific information.

Why don't consultancies recruit from IIT BHU?

Consultancies do recruit from IIT (BHU). However, there are relatively fewer hires for these positions as compared to other sectors. Some of the famous consultancies that hire from this IIT are - Deloitte, McKinsey, B. EXL, ZS Associates, Capgemini. In 2020, only 21 students were recruited for consulting positions, as compared to about 800 recruits overall. The reason behind this is stated below:

As it is an Institute for technology, most students prefer going to more technical areas of work.
After graduating some students prefer to pursue an MBA after a couple of years of work in the field.
Students do not have courses in IIT which solely focussed on leadership skills and/ or business management. Also, there are no courses in economics and finance.
There are usually fewer job opportunities in consulting - even lesser for people coming from purely technical institutions.
Some people go into building start-ups rather than going into entry-level management/ consulting positions, especially since they can develop the technical skill-set in college itself.

The placement statistics for the Physics department at the UG level have been tabulated below

My friend was a student of the integrated program and told me that 97% of the students of his batch were placed. The average package stood at 38 LPA while the highest package was 1.2 CPA. Some of the major recruiters of this branch are Amazon, Google, and Goldman Sachs.

Yes, IIT BHU is an autonomous body, just like any other IITs. But certain powers are vested in BHU.

IIT BHU shares the same campus as IIT BHU. BHU and IIT BHU shares the same auditorium, badminton-squash court, swimming pool. Although IIT BHU has separate hostels, grounds, library, gym, etc. Also, IIT BHU organizes separate placements, fests, and other events.

Previously called Banaras Engineering College, IIT BHU offers Undergraduate, Postgraduate, and Doctoral programs across fields including Chemical Engineering. The course fee for BTech Chemical Engineering is 3.02 lakhs.

IIT Hyderabad is considered to be one of the 2nd Generation IITs initiated by Govt. The institute offers BTech Chemical Engineering at a cost of 8.67 lakhs.

Which is better RGIPT or IIT-BHU or IIPE?

RGIPT, IIT BHU, and IIPE, all three are reputed national-level colleges. Choosing among these three, depends on the course you are interested in. Selecting the right branch is more important than brand recognition of the college. So, don’t choose IIT BHU, only because of the IIT tag. It’s true that the IIT tag offers certain advantages. But for job opportunities, your branch will matter more.

If you are getting Ceramics or Pharmaceutical at IIT BHU and Petroleum Engineering at RGIPT, then go for RGIPT. The Petroleum and Chemical branch of RGIPT offers more placement opportunities and exposure.
If you are interested in other core branches then IIT BHU is a better option.
Now, between RGIPT and IIPE, the former is the better choice for Petroleum Engineering. The course curriculum for the branch is similar but you will get better alumni support at RGIPT.
For Chemical Engineering, IIPE has a better course structure. Also, IIPE has a huge locational advantage. HPCL’s refinery is located in Visakhapatnam. The institute is only a few hours away from Kakinada, which has a huge potential of producing Methane Hydrates.

Which is better, IIT BHU for chemical or IIT Tirupati for electrical?

IIT BHU and IIT Tirupati have their strengths and the choice depends upon your preferences.

IIT BHU- If you want a placement with a high package and it does not bother you whether you get placed in a core or non-core profile, IIT BHU Chemical is the right choice for you. The choice is also right for you if you can live in a crowded city and want a shared campus (IIT BHU shares its campus with Banaras Hindu University). Most people from the Chemical department go for non-core jobs since they offer better packages. IIT BHU also has a strong alumni base and the fame of the institution is a big highlight for students.

You can also join IIT BHU Chemical and try for a branch change. You will easily get ECE or EEE with some effort. In case you get stuck with Chemical, do not worry and go for non-core placements which are mostly open for all the branches.

Most placements at IIT BHU are in the non-core profiles.

IIT Tirupati- If you want to pursue Electrical Engineering, you want to end up in a core profile, and you are ready to settle down for a comparatively lower package, you should go for IIT Tirupati Electrical. It is a good option if you wish to become a notable alumnus of your institution and become part of a newly established and growing IIT. You will, however, not get access to an alumni network because IIT Tirupati is a very new institution (established in 2015). The campus has high-speed internet and is situated in the mountains. Sports facilities are also provided at IIT Tirupati.

What is the average package of IIT BHU?

The average package depends upon the branch in which you are studying, and it’s generally more for CSE (Computer Science), MnC (Mathematics and Computing), ECE (Electronics) and EEE (Electrical). This is due to the reason many of the students go for software profile jobs and are being paid high from this branch. This doesn’t mean that other branch students don’t get good placements, many students of other branches are very well placed and as similar as these above branches. The trend of placement in IIT BHU shows students who go for software profile jobs (it doesn’t depend on your branch, almost all students do coding) get good packages.

Now coming to placement statistics, in December 2019, 4 students had got international offers and remaining also got very good placements. Out of 1063 students registered for the placements, 762 got very good placements in the first phase. Also, 172 students had got PPO (Pre-Placement Offer).

Which is better, IIT BHU for mechanical or IIT Indore for mechanical?

Both are good IIT’s but IIT BHU being an old institute offers a vast alumni network due to which placements percentage is high. Also being 100 years old institution IIT BHU has well-established labs with good equipment. Whereas, IIT Indore is a new IIT and still developing. According to NIRF Rankings, IIT BHU has a better ranking that Indore: IIT BHU(11), IIT Indore(13).

Mechanical Department is one of the oldest departments of IIT BHU and has many experienced faculties who are experts in their fields. Research culture at IIT BHU is also better than IIT Indore and there is a lab in IIT BHU being sponsored by DRDO for research. The course curriculum for Mechanical is nearly the same at both the colleges. As IIT Indore is recently established (2008) it has modern infrastructure while the infrastructure of IIT BHU is quite old.

Apart from academics, the IIT BHU Gymkhana has lots of clubs and councils like Sports, Science and Tech Council, Film & Media Council, Cultural Societies which boosts personality as well as skills. Also, IIT BHU has 3 fests (Spardha, Technex and Kashiyatra) that witnessed the participation of students from over 1500+ colleges and schools and top motivational speakers and celebrities.

Regarding placements stats of IIT BHU, top companies, and government organizations like DRDO, ISRO, IAF, Maruti, Bajaj, L&T, BHEL, HUL, IOCL, etc. visits campus for recruiting students. In 2019 a total of 109 students got placement from Mechanical Engineering with average salary package ranging between 10 LPA to 58.21 LPA. The average package offered in IIT Indore was around 16 LPA. Placements of IIT BHU has an edge over IIT Indore.

So, overall IIT BHU Mechanical is better than IIT Indore Mechanical.
