My friend was a student of the integrated program and told me that 97% of the students of his batch were placed. The average package stood at 38 LPA while the highest package was 1.2 CPA. Some of the major recruiters of this branch are Amazon, Google, and Goldman Sachs.

IIT BHU Engineering Physics placements have been pretty good for the session of 2020-21. Here are the placement highlights.

Parameters  Salary Packages (in INR)
Average CTC  17 LPA
Median CTC  19 LPA
Highest CTC  28 LPA.

Many students of Engineering Physics also opt for higher studies. If you are interested in pursuing research, this branch is ideal.

B.Tech in Electrical Engineering Indian Institute of Technology Varanasi (IIT BHU) (2019)

The placements of Engineering Physics are not that good because there is no demand for in the industry. The Indian engineering curriculum is 40 years old, which causes less demand. The problem with branches like these is that the opportunities in the core field are plenty, but the salary which one would receive will make anyone feel that as an IITian, they deserve more.

Moreover, this branch is research-specific, hence if someone doesn’t have any plans for higher studies, choosing this branch might not be a good option. The students then, from such popular Indian engineering colleges like IIT BHU, practice computer programming to get a job as a computer engineer, with 5-10 LPA, depending on their skills. Or they become managers in the industry, with 5-15 LPA.

Due to stronger H1B visa rules and automation, most abroad IT companies prefer engineers with a higher skill set (i.e. who have a strong and deep knowledge of the fundamentals of Information Technology), which proves as a disadvantage to these engineers. Even if IIT-BHU is a Tier-1 engineering college, most companies are not interested in academic credentials but are concerned only about the TopCoder and GitHub profiles of the applicants.
