Which is the better option - PICT for IT, VIT Pune for IT, or WCE Sangli for CSE?

AC
Abhinav Chowdhury Posted On : October 13th, 2023
Lives in Pune, Maharashtra, India

My friend was in a similar dilemma when he was left with these three options. Based on his experience, PICT is the best option in Pune for computers. The institute provides an environment and resources suitable for working on quality projects. The academic ambiance is excellent and you will get a chance to develop yourself. Students with a good CGOA bag good offers while some open their own startups.

WCE is a decent college with a good campus and faculty pool. The students make it to average companies like TCS Infosys cognizant. It’s the best college in the Kolhapur and Solapur University area. Most students opt for a job rather than pursuing higher studies.

VIT has the added advantage of being in Pune so if you ever face this situation, choose VIT over WCE. The preference order therefore is, PICT>VIT>WCE.

Should I choose IIMB over FMS Delhi?

RG
Rishikesh Gupta Posted On : December 30th, 2022
CAT 2018: 99.82%ile. Converted FMS Delhi and IIM Bangalore

Many people choose IIM Bangalore over FMS Delhi because of its brand image. Also without any doubt, IIM is at an altogether different level than other B Schools. Considering the IIFT rankings of this year IIM Bangalore ranked 1st whereas FMS ranked 4th.

But if you consider the ROI, FMS has an upper hand. Its incredibly lower fees in comparison to IIMs make it the best choice for people who are low on budget and don’t want to get involved with educational loans. It’s the best cost-effective MBA program in the country. The placements here are also at par with IIMs.

So choose IIMB over FMS only if

  • You can invest 20+ lakhs or are willing to take out a loan
  • If you are looking for a brand image more than just the essence of an MBA
  • You want to experience an impressive campus life

If these are your reasons for pursuing an MBA. IIM Bangalore is a better choice. Else go for FMS, nothing there will disappoint you.

One of my cousins left NIT Hamirpurfor PEC and no one could answer this question better. Here is what he stated

  • The crowd quality is much better at PEC. The seniors are very helpful and your peers are highly intellectual thus motivating you to perform better. NIT Hamirpur on the other hand has some cases of ragging.
  • NIT Hamirpur is located remotely although its campus is very serene and beautiful. PEC on the other hand is situated amidst the hustle and bustle of the city with every service available at doorstep.
  • NIT Hamirpur has better faculty but this does not matter because, in the end, you have to resort to self-studying.
  • NIT Hamirpur being a government college has an amazing infrastructure while PEC is way behind.

Which one is a better option for an MCA, MNNIT Allahabad or JNU New Delhi?

TD
Tezal Dahiya Posted On : November 28th, 2023

JNU conducts the toughest entrance for MCA. Its faculty and environment are ideal for this degree. MNNIT Allahabad is a good institute, but its MCA is not comparable to JNU.

However, JNU does not have a concrete curriculum for its MCA entrance. Its entrance is conducted in a non serious manner, and the paper is difficult to crack. Moreover, it has a lot of reservations and quotas, even on such limited seats.

On the other hand, NIMCET is conducted in an organized manner, and its paper is easy to understand. The syllabus and blueprints are made available on the official website for good preparation.

Despite all this, JNU has a very professional education system. It does not offer any placements, but you’ll get good exposure on campus and land a job on your own. The MCA faculty is highly experienced, but I am not well aware of the university’s infrastructure.

Talking of MNNIT Allahabad, it is a highly reputed NIT with a good placement record. Its campus is completely ragging free, and the environment is strict on academics. But its hostels aren’t in a good shape.

I would suggest JNU New Delhi for an MCA, but even MNNIT is a decent choice.

Which is better overall, KMC Manipal or BMCRI Bangalore?

AB
Aditi Banerjee Posted On : September 28th, 2023
Lives in Bangalore

My knowledge is limited to BMCRI as my brother is a student of the same so I won’t be able to give you a comparison between BMC and KMC. Here are a few highlights of the college

  • The student's performance isn't followed up personally by the faculty due to the huge batch size.
  • Academics depend on how keen you are to learn and follow the faculty’s advice.
  • The clinical exposure is better than any other college in the state.
  • The infrastructure may not be at par with other government colleges but it’s well-equipped to handle the multitude of cases coming in each day.
  • BMCRI Bangalore MBBS fees is as low as 70,200 (1st Year Fees)
  • The crowd is refined and highly talented because there are no management seats

BMC focuses on the holistic development of the students so you can expect a fun-filled campus life.

Which one's better in terms of placements and fee structure, Manipal Institute of Technolgy, Manipal or Bhilai Institute of Technology, Durg?

BG
Bidita Ghose Posted On : September 8th, 2023
Lives in Bengaluru, Karnataka, India

Both Manipal Institute of Technology and Bhilai Institute of Technology, Durg are excellent engineering colleges with their own unique strengths and weaknesses. Here is why you should consider joining BIT Durga instead of MIT Manipal.

  • Fees: MIT Manipal BTech fees are INR 18.62 Lakhs while BTech first-year fees of Bhilai Institute of Technology are just INR 81,862.
  • Location : BIT is situated in a very small city Durg. However, there aren't any connectivity issues as the railway station is quite near. You only need a bike to roam the entire city
  • Education : Very few qualified professors can be found here as the institute is very old.
  • Placements: One of my friends told me about the placement scenario at BIT Durga. The highest CTC stood at INR 20 LPA while the average CTC stood at INR 4.5 LPA.

The only major flaw the institute has is that despite being a 28-year-old institute it's affiliated to a 7-year-old university which affects the quality of education.

In all, if you dont want to spend much then BIT Durga is the right option for you.

Which is better for the future: YMCA Faridabad CSE, or NIT Kurukshetra for production?

AB
Akriti Banerjee Posted On : September 1st, 2023
lives in New Delhi

You can get a branch change at NIT Kurukshetra, after the first year. But for that, you’ll have to work hard and be among the toppers in your branch.

Even if you end up in Production, it has good opportunities in PSUs. But for that, you’ll have to crack GATE with a good rank. For example, ONGC offers really good vacancies for Production Engineers who have cracked GATE. Campus recruitment scenario isn’t that great for core jobs, but you’ll have some options in the NIT campus.

I recommend you study hard and get a branch transfer to COE/IT at NIT Kurukshetra. However, even if that doesn’t happen, you can sit for GATE. Also, there’s core and non-core jobs that you can get through campus placements.

Which is better to join, IIT Madras online course or UpGrad? IIT Madras is offering a BSc in data science and programming and UpGrad is offering PG diploma.

AS
Aditi Sengupta Posted On : March 30th, 2023
Studied at the Indian Institute of Technology, Madras

Without any second thoughts, choose BSc Data Science from IIT Madras. Upgrad course is just an additional course between you and your degree from IIT Madras.

Choosing BSc program from IIT Madras will offer many perks

  • You become a part of the extensive alumni network of IIT Madras
  • You will be able to avail of Institute placements
  • Fee waived based on your income criteria
  • You can clear your doubt directly from the IIT Madras faculty. They are highly approachable.
  • Weekly evaluation maintains the quality standards of the course and makes it one of the best Distance Education Programs.
  • The online course from Upgrad awards you just a certificate while that from IIT Madras awards you a degree.
  • The exams of Upgrad are conducted online whereas BSc exams are conducted offline at exam centers highly under the surveillance of examiners.
  • There is a fixed duration (3-4) of the BSc program which is absent in the case of the Upgrad course.
  • Your CV will be bestowed with an IIT tag, known worldwide while the Upgrad course is rarely known outside India.
  • Internship opportunities are available under the BSc course thus offering much more exposure than Upgrad where you are expected to be already employed.

Upgrad is suitable only for those who are working full-time and cannot pursue a full-time course. Else, BSc should be your first option. This course can be pursued full-time and gives enough time to prepare simultaneously for many things like the Civil services exam, and CAT exam or inculcating skills like drawing, painting, music, etc.
