How is the college life in Thapar University?

SB
Shruti Bose Posted On : August 9th, 2021
B.Tech from Thapar Institute of Engineering and Technology

Thapar University has a good reputation in the industry. According to the recent placement statistics, the average package offered was 6 LPA and the highest was 43 LPA for engineering.

But, there are very few placements in the core field of ECE, especially in India. So I would say, the current placement scenario is shifting from core to all the consultancies and management companies in Thapar hence the overall placement rate is good but the core jobs are very less.

  • The best factor about Thapar University is that it allows the students from any branch to appear for all kinds of interviews. This gives you a broad panel to select from and apply according to your skillset.
  • Some ECE students also manage to get placement in coding companies but they are few.
  • Consultancies prefer ECE students over other branches.

Some of the major recruiting companies visiting the placement drive are Directi, Bosch, Amazon, etc.

What was your rough timetable at IIT Bombay?

PS
Poornima Sahoo Posted On : March 18th, 2023
Studied M.Sc in Applied Statistics & Informatics at Indian Institute of Technology, Bombay (IITB) (Graduated 2019)

In the first year, your timetable at IIT Bombay would typically look like this:

  • Waking up at 8 am.
  • Getting ready quickly and have breakfast.
  • Attending morning classes.
  • Resting for 1-2 hours till the next class.
  • Attending classes till afternoon.
  • Having lunch at the canteen.
  • Taking teaching assistantship duty by taking labs to second and third-year students until evening.
  • Coming back to the hostel.
  • Browsing the internet, watch movies, finish assignments, chat with friends or engage in some other activity.
  • Sleeping at around 12 am or so.

However, your second year would be very different since you don't have classes for your masters in the second year. Instead, your schedule would look more like this:

  • Going to the lab (professor's cabin) and sitting until you feel like going to the hostel.
  • Going to the canteen for food and coming back to the lab to do some work.
  • Attempting Hacker Rank mathematics problems for nearly 3 months.
  • Working hard on your dissertation by sleeping many days in the lab itself (which turns out to be very fun, though!)
  • Every day would be almost the same: Either sitting in the hostel or the cabin since you will have no classes and have to work on your own.

Are you a student of AIIMS Raipur? If yes, how's your experience over there?

SS
Shubham Sharma Posted On : November 16th, 2022
2nd year MBBS student from All India Institute of Medical Sciences (Expected 2025)

My friend is a student of AIIMS Raipur. She shared her experience of her college life there.

The campus is situated a bit far from the residential areas. The faculty is very professional and experienced. They cooperate with you throughout the medical examination process.

What catches the eye is the cleanliness of the campus. It’s exceptionally well-maintained and tidy.

The library is massive with an extensive collection of academic books. The annual fest Oriana is a fun-filled event that every student of AIIMS Raipur looks forward to. Many trips are also planned to develop good relationships between students.

My friend says her experience in AIIMS Raipur was one of a kind.

How was your experience at Central University of Rajasthan on the whole?

SR
Sakshi Roy Posted On : October 21st, 2021
Integrated MSc. Chemistry, Central University of Rajasthan

I have a friend who graduated from Central University of Rajasthan. His experience at the institute has been good.

  • Classes are regular at the institute. The professors are well-experienced. The university follows a semester system.
  • The campus is a great place to hang out with your friends. My friend used to hang out at a place called thadi. Food is available till 10 at night. You can also visit nearby dhabas or restaurants. Girls are allowed to be out till 10. There are two stadiums where you can watch kids play.
  • Some days there can be problems regarding food and water. But overall it’s manageable. There is one non-veg counter, one canteen, one chai shop, one corporate store, and two dairy parlors on campus.
  • Winters are cold and summers are too hot. Students usually stay on campus except for vacations.

Overall, you will have a good experience on campus.

How is BBA from IGNOU?

RM
Rishabh Malhotra Posted On : November 3rd, 2022
Assistant manager-Inside Sales at Koenig Solutions (company)

Everything in life has advantages and disadvantages. Here are the advantages and disadvantages of BBA from IGNOU:

Pros:

  • IGNOU offers a BBA with a Specialization in Retailing (rather than a general BBA), which broadens your opportunities in the retail sector beyond sales and marketing.

  • Every year, you receive a certificate. As a result, you can begin working immediately after finishing your 12th grade and continue to advance each year. You don't have to wait three years for a degree before you can get a job. You can study while working.

  • Every year, you are given a project that allows you to gain real-world experience in the retail industry and complete it in retail organisations.

  • Retail Associations of India is collaborating with IGNOU-BBA. You will receive the best curriculum for it.

  • The course is written in simple language that is easy to understand, and it includes the best knowledge in the retail specialisation.

  • The cost of this course is the lowest of any university that offers distance education for BBA.

Cons:

  • There is no Math or Statistics subject in the entire BBA course from IGNOU, so it is entirely theoretical.

  • Unfortunately, some prestigious MBA programmes look for a Math subject in the course of graduation when accepting applications. However, there will be many colleges that will accept your degree.

  • Similarly, some government jobs require a Math subject as part of your bachelor's degree programme. However, there will be plenty of opportunities for you in the government. as well as the private sector for employment You can still apply for exams such as Bank PO, SSC, and UPSC.

  • The same exposure found in regular BBA will never be found in distance BBA. The reason for this is that you will not learn how to give presentations in front of an audience, which is essential if you are studying BBA.

This course is not offered in every city. So, before enrolling in IGNOU's BBA programme, you should contact the IGNOU regional centre in your city. Because this course is taken by a small number of students, it is only available in a few cities. However, when comparing distance universities for the course of BBA, it is recommended that IGNOU is the best because of its lower cost, reputation, and educational standard.

How is life at IIIT Sri City, apart from academics? How are its campus and hostel life?

SP
Shaurya Pandey Posted On : March 16th, 2021
Studied at Indian Institute of Information Technology, Sri City

You will definitely have a great time in Sri City and probably not feel like going back home after the amazing four years you will spend here. One of my friends has experienced the amazing campus life. He got really attached to this place. You will miss your friends and having fun at 3 am in the morning.

The IFMR canteen is one place where you will eat every possible thing on the menu and not attend classes. You will also end up taking a number of spontaneous trips. Even the small nitty-gritty like not being able to stay awake during class, running around for attendance will become so ingrained in your daily life that you will end up missing them. The teachers here are more like friends instead of professors. You will also miss the happiness of getting an unexpected holiday.

Your hostel room is going to be a place of great memories. It will witness breakups, patch-ups, and you at your best and worse. Sri City and the college will become your second home.

The early morning sunrises, evening strolls around the campus as well as the petrichor of the rain right after the blistering summer in May are things you will come to appreciate. While you might enter as a frightened fresher, you will be leaving as an experienced graduate. You will learn to become independent and will have gone through some of life’s toughest lessons.

In other words, you will come to love this place so much, you will definitely have tears in your eyes as you leave from here on your last day. Some of your best days will be from IIIT Sri City.
