What is the one thing all of the passouts miss about NIT Kurukshetra?

PS
Prajakta Sharan Posted On : September 1st, 2023
Studied at the National Institute of Technology, Kurukshetra

As fresh pass outs from NIT Kurukshetra, here are some of the things I and my friends miss about our college-

  1. Visiting the seniors’ hostels, interacting with them, and forming close bonds.
  2. The joy of tricking security guards.
  3. Visiting the college market, chatting with friends and enjoying our snacks.
  4. The joy of bunking classes occasionally. Such pleasures can’t be achieved as a working professional.
  5. We visited the Hot Sizzler Resort whenever we lacked a plan.
  6. P.J. Philip sir’s classes were the best.
  7. We spent our lab hours downloading movies and shopping online.
  8. We cheered for our home teams.
  9. The inductions are something we really miss.
  10. The NIT corridor and Maal road are imprinted on our minds.
  11. The mess food was made bearable through friends and their constant chatter.
  12. The excitement and happiness of getting placed. We even cheered for others as they got placed, even if that person was an enemy.
  13. The days and nights in the hostel were filled with friendships and warmth. That kind of joy is really difficult to find once you leave college.

NIT Kurukshetra is a place where you’ll not just study, but also live the most memorable days of your life.

VTU had recently cancelled the year back system. Does it apply for CBCS students too?

PM

BE from Visvesvaraya Technological University (2019)

VTU hasn’t canceled the year-back system. You will still get a year back if you get more than four backlogs in a year. But having backlogs previous to the previous year won’t result in a year-back. The rules are as follows.

  • Students who have less than four backlogs in the first two semesters are eligible for the second year.
  • Students who have less than four backlogs in the four semesters of the first year and second year are eligible to move to the third year.
  • Students who have the required credits for first year and don’t have more than four backlogs in four semesters of second and third year are eligible for fourth year.

So, you will still get a year-back, if you have more than four backlogs in an academic year.

Can an average student perform good and bear study pressure at KMC, Manipal?

Namrata Das Posted On : September 28th, 2023

Yes, an average student can easily perform well and bear the study pressure at KMC Manipal. All you need is determination and clarity of goals. Even if you do face struggles, seek help from others and keep pushing yourself towards your goals.

KMC does not have many average students as KMC has an excellent crowd. In my friend's batch, many students had secured 5–10K in NEET UG and took KMC over the peripheral government colleges via AIQ. KMC Manipal offers top-notch education at par with academics of Government medical colleges like AIIMS D, JIPMER, MAMC, CMC, etc.

KMC is a private college and therefore has better infrastructure and equipment.

Lastly, I don't think NEET is the only way to assess whether a student is average, smart, or dumb.

There is a wide scope of pursuing an MTech from NIT Hamirpur. Most MTech programs are research-oriented and NIT Hamirpur provides the resources and environment necessary for research. Here are the future prospects of this program

  • You can go for a Ph.D. in top colleges like IIT, IISC, etc. The NIT tag will surely put you ahead of others. You can get admission to NIT Hamirpur top if you have a good relationship with your guide.
  • You can enter Academia by opting for a teaching job offered in campus placements in colleges like TMU, LPU, CU, etc. The average salary offered is 30k to 45k per month.
  • CSE students have many placement opportunities in companies like TCS\Infosys, IBM, Samsung,Aricent etc. The average package offered by these companies is 4-5 LPA. You will also have the opportunity to join the R&D department with your research experience in masters.
  • A few PSUs also visit NIT Hamirpur offering decent packages. The chances of a PSU recruiting depend on the placement coordinator.

Summing up, the future prospects of MTech CSE and Mobile Computing students seem to be much more promising than those of other branches.

How was your experience in IPM IIM Indore student exchange programme in the third year? What are the details of your trip (expenses, study, travel, etc)?

DT
Deepak Tiwari Posted On : January 2nd, 2023
MBA from Institute of Rural Management, Anand (Graduated 2020)

My friend had the opportunity to get selected for the student exchange program in the third year. She shared her amazing experience.

She was sent to the University of Latvia. Studying in Europe gave her the freedom to explore it, make new friends from every corner of the world and most importantly gain knowledge about different economies.

Expenses

The total expenditure amounted to approximately ?4–5 lac for the five months she spent there. However, she was lucky to get an ERASMUS+ grant which covered most of her expenses.

Study

You are free to opt for any course of your choice provided that you complete the minimum credits criteria of IIM Indore. It’s recommended that you go for such a course that satiates your interests and is unavailable in your country. Some of them include International Law and Culture.

Travel

You can travel to most of Europe if you have a Type-D Visa. The climate is extremely cold and you will not be able to adjust initially.

Food

There are no mess facilities, only college canteens. The taste of the food is not up to our taste. But spending much on food is futile. You can spend the maximum on traveling and you won’t regret it.

My friend had a great time as an exchange student at the University of Latvia thanks to its relaxed ambiance.

Is the Frankfinn Institute of Air Hostess training fake or real?

RT
Raktim Tarafdar Posted On : October 20th, 2023

Frankfinn Institute is a genuine cabin crew training center.

But it is very expensive, and merely provides traditional training. After training, you’ll be offered hotel jobs as airline campus interviews are very rare over there. Basically, the outcome won’t be worth your time and heavy investment.

Besides, you’ll be trained from scratch by your airline upon selection. If you wish to join a cabin crew training institute, choose a budget friendly one. An aviation degree does not guarantee a job as an air hostess, but it surely makes you confident during interviews. Make sure to choose an institute that has a good market reputation.

Try to opt for an institute that doesn’t just bring in offers for ground jobs.

Though Frankfinn is a genuine air hostess training institute, I wouldn’t recommend it.

Among IIT Kharagpur, BITS Goa, IISER and Niser, which institute is best for physics (udergraduate) research?

A
Admin Posted On : June 20th, 2024
  • College wise - IIT Kharagpur > BITS Pilani >BITS Hyderabad
  • Branch wise - CSE > Manufacturing science and engineering

However, this is simply a popular trend, and you don't have to follow it. It is best to make a decision based on your individual preferences.

First you should make up your mind regarding the domain you want to continue with.

Here are some information to make your decision easier:-

  • IIT Kharagpur is one of the oldest institutes in India established in 1951.
  • IIT Kharagpur is ranked 6th in the NIRF ranking while IIT Patna is Ranked 25th.
  • IIT Kharagpur is famous for its Manufacturing science and engineering branch which is one of the core branches in B.Tech.
  • IIT has a better brand name and value than BITS both in and outside of India.
  • IIT Kharagpur has an Average Salary of 20 LPA with BITS Pilani at 30 LPA and BITS Hyderabad at 24 LPA.
  • IIT Kharagpur has a campus area of 2100 acres compared to BITS Pilani's 328 acres.

How was your first year at MNNIT Allahabad?

AY
Atul Yadav Posted On : November 28th, 2023
MNNIT Allahabad

I recently completed my first year at MNNIT Allahabad. This is all about my experience as a fresher at MNNIT-

As the first year is the same for all branches, everyone is mixed and divided into groups- A1, A2, B1, B2, and so on. The year begins with an orientation program where the professors and HODs talk about college rules and students’ responsibilities. Classes begin 2-3 days after the orientation program.

MNNIT is very strict about ragging. For the first month (basically before the freshers’ party ‘Swagat’), strict discipline is maintained. Freshers move to the classes in a line, accompanied by security guards, and they can’t leave the hostels even for the library. After Swagat, the hostel in time for fresher boys is 8:30 pm.

The faculty consists of both good and bad teachers. But basically, you’ll be on your own. The teachers take attendance, teach, and leave. There’s a lack of healthy classroom interactions between the faculty and students. This is why students begin to bunk classes after a while.

The freshers’ ‘Swagat’ is the first event that one experiences at MNNIT Allahabad as a fresher. Sometime before this event, seniors visit the fresher hostel, and induct freshers in various clubs and committees. After this, the practices for Swagat begin with a lot of enthusiasm. Freshers’ is a great chance to develop friendship with the seniors.

Aviskar( tech fest) and Culrav( cultural fest) are the two main fests of MNNIT. The college Athletics team is quite good.

My first year was well spent at MNNIT. The college is good, but needs infrastructural improvements.

What is the best choice for an MBA, IIM Kashipur or IIT Roorkee?

A
Admin Posted On : June 24th, 2024

If I leave my biases towards Kashipur as a city aside. I would choose IIT Roorkee over IIM Kashipur.

Here are some reasons in support of my decision:-

  • Older IITs like Roorkee boast a longer legacy and are highly esteemed for imparting quality Management education.
  • The IIT brand that gets attached to you is an asset that shall forever remain worthy both inside and outside of India.
  • IIT Roorkee is ranked 18th in the NIRF ranking while IIM Kashipur is at 19th.
  • IIT Roorkee has a bigger campus size of 358 acres compared to IIM Kashipur’s 200 acres.
  • MBA started at IIT Roorkee in 1998 while IIM Kashipur was established in 2011.
  • IIT Roorkee has an Average Package of 18.3LPA with IIM Kashipur at 15LPA.

How good is Thapar University for mechanical engineering? I have heard that its teacher and placement scenario is bad.

TS
Tania Sharma Posted On : August 7th, 2023
Studied at Thapar Institute of Engineering and Technology

To be honest, the general scenario of Mechanical Engineering at most Indian colleges is pathetic, and rarely do core companies come for placements. Surprisingly enough, Thapar is among the few companies that are visited by core mechanical companies. So yes, Thapar University’s Mechanical Engineering is second only to IITs, NITs, and BITS. Here are a few highlights of the course

  • During the 4th semester, students are given 3 projects of Creo which have no written exam. The project alone takes months to complete and students learn the whole solid modeling during the process.
  • Earlier, Mechatronics was an optional subject but now it has been made compulsory in the 2nd year. The reason is its increasing scope in the future and its compulsion in papers like ESEs.
  • Frequent workshops are held solely to impart knowledge and no grading is done for these.
  • The Mechanical Department has some of the best faculty with highly experienced professors. Some even are Ph.D. holders from old IITs.
  • The peer group is excellent because usually the ones passionate about Mechanical join this program.
  • The placement scenario is decent and companies like Eicher, Honda, Maruti, Hero, Royal Enfield, etc. visit for campus placement.
  • The entire 6th semester is for internships so students gain a lot of practical experience and prepare better for placements.

So Thapar University’s Mechanical Department is an excellent option if you are passionate about the field and are unable to make it into ITs, NITs, or BITS, then go for Thapar.
