Is it advisable to go for a new IIM like IIM Jammu and do MBA? It is being mentored by IIM Lucknow so will placement be also mentored by them?

PD
Prabhjot Dev Posted On : February 13th, 2024

IIM Lucknow mentors IIM Jammu with respect to faculty, curriculum and pedagogy. IIM Jammu and IIM Lucknow have almost the same teachers, barring a few. Moreover, the pedagogy and curriculum of both these colleges is the same. But IIM Lucknow does not extend its mentorship in case of IIM Jammu placements.

The crowd of new IIMs is really good. The students from IIM Jammu are tough opponents for IIM A B C students in various competitions. IIM Jammu has a student exchange program that offers meritorious students to complete a trimester at a European university. The placements of IIM Jammu are equal to other baby IIMs.

IIM Jammu carries the prestigious ‘IIM’ tag which has a high value in the industry. I would recommend you join IIM Jammu for your MBA.

What is the market value of a PG Diploma in Cyber Law from NALSAR University, Hyderabad?

SD
Saunak Dasgupta Posted On : September 3rd, 2021
NALSAR University of Law, Hyderabad (2020)

My brother recently graduated from Nalsar University, so I can give you some information regarding the institute.

There is no real (job) market value of doing a PG diploma in Cyber Law from NALSAR Hyderabad if you’re a non-law graduate. This diploma won’t fetch you a cyber laws-related job or earn you a raise or a promotion.

You will find this degree useful only if you have an LLB or an LLM degree.

However, The course is great. Even if you are a non-law graduate, it will be an enriching experience for you especially if you can attend the contact classes which are normally organized by legal experts, experienced professors.

Now in the recent placement drive, the highest salary offered for PG Diploma in Cyber Law was INR 36 LPA and the average package offered was INR 6 LPA.

What is it like to major in Aerospace Engineering at IIT Bombay?

AT
Adwait Tejas Posted On : March 18th, 2023
studied Aerospace and Aeronautical Engineering at Indian Institute of Technology, Bombay (2021)

There is a course called CS207 Discrete Structures taught by Professor Ajit Diwan. It was related to Discrete Mathematics - Number Theory, Graph Theory, Combinatorics, Sets, and Groups, and was one of the most difficult courses my friend came across.

Professor Diwan is well known for his highly challenging problems and course material. During his lectures, he delivers a lot of information based on principles. For math lovers, his classes are an absolute delight.

He refrains from conducting more than one exam a month. However, the level of difficulty of the exam is high. The questions look very complicated but when one ponders upon them, they don’t seem that difficult.

The exams were extremely difficult to the extent that the passing cutoff was 7 out of 100 marks. Despite the entire batch consisting of JEE toppers, a lot of them were not able to make it to the cutoff.

Is there ragging at NIT Trichy?

TS
Tamalika Sarkar Posted On : April 1st, 2021
B.Tech from National Institute of Technology, Tiruchirappalli, Tamil Nadu, India (2019)

This is the question that scares each and every student while joining a new campus as a fresher. At NIT Trichy there is no such thing to worry about as there is no such thing as ragging in the campus.

  • The campus is good, so try to enjoy your 4-year program on campus and don’t make any bad assumptions regarding your seniors.
  • You will enjoy your college life especially in the first year of your college.
  • In the first semester, you will have certain introductions and discussions with your seniors.
  • The probable questions by them are our name, college, schooling, etc.
  • They also form groups as per regions and language. The seniors are friendly and they will help you a lot in your college days.

After some past events in the college, the ragging on the campus has stopped and the college management is also very strict about that. There is a proper helping number and email ids through which you can immediately complain about any kind of misbehavior or ragging to the department and they will take action as soon as possible.

I got admission letter but my PCM aggregate is less than 60% (overall more than 60). I am yet to submit my marksheet, Will KIIT cancel my candidature?

AS
Ayushi Sehgal Posted On : February 15th, 2024

KIIT doesn’t cancel anyone’s candidature, as per my experience. It is a hard fact that no engineering college (except for tier 1 colleges) rejects the candidature of students based on their past academic performance. The practice of donation is followed in many government engineering colleges too.

KIIT University won’t reject your candidature. But you might not get the branch you are hoping for.

Is the Shri Ramswaroop Memorial University good?

SS
Sayanti Shome Posted On : July 17th, 2021
Studied at Lovely Professional University (2019)

University of Shri Ramswaroop, Lucknow Memorial is recognized by the UGC. As one of my cousins studied there, I can say that in terms of study the University is extremely good.

  • The university’s environment is a bit unclear to me.
  • The faculty of the university is quite strict, yet it is not as good as it should be in any educational institution.
  • The infrastructure is good however it is not well maintained.
  • University's placement is average for some well-known businesses like Tata and Wipro. They even offer lower salary packages.
  • Shri Ramswaroop Memorial University will help you at the end of the semester with an additional value course that would be added to your CV.
Categories Shri Ramswaroop Memorial University
Course Fee 5.73 lakh
Highest CTC 12 LPA
Average CTC 6 LPA
Recruiting Companies Wipro, TCS, IBM, HCL, etc.

Thus, the overall performance of the college is average. If you want to study here, you need to work hard yourself and be less dependent on the faculty members and the college name. Ultimately choose what is best for you.

Is NIET, Greater Noida a good college?

TG
Tathagata Ghose Posted On : June 28th, 2021
B.Tech Information Technology, Noida Institute of Engineering and Technology (2018)

One of my close friends attended NIET and here is his take on the institute.

  • The main recruiter on campus is TCS. You will be able to apply for the company no matter which branch you belong to. Apart from TCS, MNCs that visit the campus are UHG, Capgemini, etc. for CS/IT students. There will also be a few other companies based on your branch.
  • Maximum recruiting companies hire students in sales, marketing, business analyst job roles.
  • There are no placements for the Civil branch. The faculties are not that experienced either.
  • NIET advertises about their good placement records, but if you go through the placement list you will find that most of the placements at the institute are in sales profile.
  • The institute claims that the Indian Army and Indian Navy visit the placement drive every year. But in his 4-year duration of the course, my friend didn’t witness anyone getting recruited by them.
  • The infrastructure of the college is also not that good. WiFi is not that useful, you have to use VPN to open common sites like youtube.
  • There is no fest, and little to no exposure.

According to my friends, it will be better if you don’t consider NIET as an option, rather go for other alternatives if you have them.

Which is better, FMS or IIM Lucknow?

S
Sagardeep Posted On : January 16th, 2023
MBA from Indian Institute of Management Lucknow (Graduated 2021)

When discussing a business school, the most common topics of conversation are diversity, peer learning, case competitions, learning culture, and placements.

Both FMS and IIM Lucknow have very different admissions criteria. Lucknow promotes academic diversity and places a high value on interview scores, whereas FMS places a greater emphasis on percentile.

Typically, classes in business schools last until five o'clock. If you stay on campus, you have the option of sleeping until 8 p.m. and then attending a club/committee event at 9 p.m. When you have in-house fields, you can relieve stress by playing football or cricket at night. You have the chance to run your own business at IIML thanks to their student-run enterprises on campus.

When it comes to faculty, case competitions, and academic curriculum, both brands are massive, and there are numerous opportunities. Additionally, since ROI is the topic of most discussion, FMS succeeds in this area if cost is a genuine concern.

Which is better, NIT Jamshedpur CSE or NIT Calicut EEE?

AS
Aditi Sharma Posted On : August 23rd, 2021
M.A. Political Science, Indira Gandhi National Open University (2020)

The process of selecting a suitable branch in a decent college after the JEE counseling process is pretty hectic and important. And the ideal way of going through all this process is realizing and following your interest.

The criteria for selecting a college should be based on the following.

  • Choice of branch
  • Choice of college
  • Average placement of that branch in the college
  • Infrastructure and hostel facility
  • Distance of the college from your hometown

One of the best things at any NIT is that you will get to interact with the best brains in the country. All the faculties at NIT are well qualified.

I have a few from NIT Jamshedpur so I can give you some ideas about the institute.

Pros of NIT Jamshedpur:

  • Private rooms to almost all students from the first year itself.
  • Active student clubs such as Phoenix and many others. They perform greatly at national and international levels.
  • Almost zero ragging.
  • Very helpful seniors
  • Well qualified professors
  • Excellent placement records for CSE and other branches as well. In 2021 the average and highest CTC offered was 15 and 37 LPA respectively.
  • Huge mess facility. The food is unmatchable and amazing.
  • Huge alumni network.

Lastly, I will advise that don’t choose an institute based on ranking, as ranking tends to change frequently.
